Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Greetings All!
It's hard to believe a New Year is upon us, but here we are in 2006 and the Bud Shack is busting at the seams! Today is day 20 of flower mode for Grow 8, and the girls are coming along nicely with well formed buds from top to bottom. While almost all the plants are clones from the previous run, there is one new gal, a cross between BOG's "Super" Sweet Cindy and Sour Bubble 1BX. She's a monster, and is already smelling sweet, and I have no doubt she will be the star of the show. Here's a few shots of the Flower Room on day 20:

In the group shot above, the sc99xsb cross is in the middle directly behind the plant stake. The stake is 4' tall, so you can get a good idea of the scale of the grow. The nice Christmas tree looking bush on the left is a Big Cindy clone, and I am willing to bet I'll get a pound just from her, she is absolutely covered in buds. :D There are a total of 15 gals in flower right now, all on day 20 since the light change. While the Flower Room is quite full, the Veg Area is absolutely busting at the seams! Let's take a quick peek inside:

In the middle are the 22 youngsters that make up Grow 9, and they need a repot. Only problem is they have company on either side made up of moms from Grow 7, and I have no place to put them. Ahhhh, the trials and tribulations of having too many plants! Looks like I will be picking up another T5 light and dedicating it solely to a "mother room", using the other one for the veg plants. One goal for the Bud Shack in 2006 is to setup a new grow area with partitioned veg and bloom areas, and I'm seriously thinking of building an addition to the house just for a new grow and studio area.

It's just a hobby...

Grow 8 Day 25

Grow 8 Day 25

Grow 8 is now in full swing as the plants have slowed their stretching and are now concentrating on bud production. The Flower Room has become another jungle, and the clones seem to be growing faster than the original seed plants. In the picture above the 3 plants visible in the middle are (from left to right): Lifesaver x Sour Bubble, Super Sweet Cindy x Sour Bubble, Big Cindy (c99 F2 x BGxBCBB).

I will not be doing any breeding with this run, which may also account for the apparent faster growth rate of the clones. One issue that I did run into is some bottom leaf drying due to what I believe was poor air circulation at the lower level. The canopy level on this grow is very thick and full of budsites, and the oscillating fan I have is used for air circulation around the lights, very little gets below the mid part of the plant. I have added a box fan and trimmed the plant's bottom area more to try and help increase transpiration in the lower parts of the plant.

At this stage of the grow the buds are starting to form colas and increase their resin production, not bad for 25 days. Here's a few more scenes from the Bud Shack on Day 25:

Grat3fulH3ad - Thanks... your G13xECSD has taken over the Veg area, and I may wind up topping them to slow them down a bit. Right now they are just getting ready to show sex, and I hope to have them repotted and spread out as soon as the new T5 light arrives. I'll post some pics up at that time.

Slickster - Greetings and thanks for stopping by the Bud Shack, so glad you are enjoying the show. We'll be trying some new things here at the Shack, and 2006 promises to be a sweet year chock full of eye candy for everyone!

Ta Ta For Now...

Have You Hugged Your Plant Today?

Have You Hugged Your Plant Today?

Organic Hydro - It's a Jungle alright, full of buds and beasties like the furry critter above! And... you're welcome, always glad to help when I can. :D

Sleepy - Thanks for stopping by... you aren't kidding about the room! Let's all begin the new Bud Shack chant: More Room in '06! More Room in '06!

rTenenbaum420 - Thank you for your kind words, glad you like the plants & pics!

I hope all of you like my pictures, as it appears I will be travelling to Amsterdam this year to help shoot the 420 Cup. Looking forward to meeting some of you in person, I'll be the guy with the camera! :D

But the first trip of 2006 is to Australia/New Zealand as I leave the Bud Shack for the outback and a fantastic adventure with Wally Duck. Words cannot express how excited I am about this upcoming expedition, and you can be sure I'll take lots, and lots, and lots of pictures! February will be Australian Safari month here at the Bud Shack, but right now it's January, and January is Virgin Bud Month at the Shack, as the "Return of the Clones" Grow 8 flowers with a multitude of soft, white, virginal buds like this one:

The Plastic Jug Tree

The Plastic Jug Tree

Howdy Folks!

Things have sure been busy here at the Bud Shack as Grow 8's flowering is in full swing, and my second T5 light has arrived allowing me to finally spread out the Veg Area and prepare Grow 9 for flowering. I'll be transplanting all of the 22 Grow 9 kids into bigger pots tomorrow, and setting up an irrigation system for them while I am away. The flowering plants received the first test of their new irrigation system today, and all is working well, just have to fine tune the on/off cycle for the pump and I'll feel confident leaving them for a few weeks. The plan has been to switch them to plain water on the day I leave for OZ, then when I arrive back it will be time to harvest. While I do have a plant sitter, I don't want them to have to do anything more than fill up the 35 gallon garbage can resevoir with water. Several of the plants are now using a gallon of water a day, now if I could only train them to water themselves...

The plants are all starting to show increased trichome production, and the buds have been gaining weight steadily for the past week. As you can see in the picture below, some even have started to show a slight bit of color:

Today is Day 27 of flower mode for the girls of Grow 8, and last night I went through and adjusted position and stake placements on all the plants, at this point they are set until harvest. The addition of a second fan for the bottom air movement has helped tremendously, and the bottom leaves are now looking much healthier and fuller. The tops... well what can I say. Take a look for yourself:

A quck shout out to our visitors:

Pack A Bowl - Thanks for stopping by! What you are looking at is a Jock Horror cola on day of harvest, and there is no problem to fix. You will find that at the uppermost reaches of the cola, the leaves will be much thinner in some strains than in others. This is the case of the Jock Horror you are looking at, but I also have several other strains that have shown the same trait. Leaves that are shriveled and dry due to loss of moisture are a definite problem, but that's not the issue here. Hope that helps! :D

ilcstoning - I like that pic as well, just goes to show what a $15 pack of Nirvana can produce!

Stay tuned for more... same plant time, same plant channel!

Friday the 13th's Bud Shack Budshot Bonanza!

Friday the 13th's Bud Shack Budshot Bonanza!

As night falls on this Friday the 13th, the Bud Shack celebrates it's survival with... what else? A Bud Shack Budshot Bonanza! Lots of pics to show tonight as Grow 8 ends its 29th day of flower mode. As the next few pictures show, buds are everywhere, up, down, and all around... it's a regular Bud Jungle here at Abby's Bud Shack.

The largest plant in this grow is pictured above, the Lifesaver x Sour Bubble is just getting massive, and is slowly taking over the Flower Room. Of course, that's okay by me because, this baby produces some flat-out skunky, grape flavored, kick ass paralyzingly potent buds... so I say you go girl! The more the merrier!!! :D

This grow is made up of the clones from Grow 7, which for those of you new to the Shack, was made up of some personal crosses as well as several done by my friend WeeWeeman. Unfortunately, I did a lousy job of record keeping, and lost track of who was who, but now that they are maturing it makes identification easier... Let's take a closer look at the gals:

Monster Bubble Lime Pheno (Jock Horror x Sour Bubble)

Spice99 (c99 x Ice)

Lifesaver x Sour Bubble

Sour Gum

Super Sweet Cindy x Sour Bubble

As you can see, things are progressing along nicely in the Flower Room. The Veg Area will be worked on this weekend as I create a self watering system and finish a repot for the upcoming Grow 9. Hopefully I will be able to post pics of the kids from Grow 9 tomorrow, I can mention that tonight I checked several of the plants, and it appears that I have all females to this point. I really need to play the lottery tomorrow as Lady Luck continues to smile upon the Bud Shack!

And now to the visitors:

Sleepy - Thanks! You know I will take lots and lots... and lots more pics. It's going to be a great adventure!

2buds - Thanks for the offer of plant sitting... we'll keep you in mind for next time! Still watering on the watering system, it seems the pump allowed water to escape through the lines creating a gravity feed until the water level in the resevoir was at the same level of the containers. That's why I gave myself plenty of time to tweak everything! :chin:

Hasta La Bye Bye!

Hey Abby,
Don't really understand the glitch in the watering system, but a check valve would only allow the water to flow in one direction. I'm also thinking make sure the pump sits below the outlets in the buckets. Probably ain't telling you anything you don't know but it's all about trying to help others solve those headaches.
As always from you Abby Sir, more lucious ladies in front of the camera. It must be the weed that gets you all those beautiful girls
Peace

Late Night Budshots!

Late Night Budshots!

Took a late night expedition into the Bud Jungle, and here's what I found:

Super Sweet Cindy x Sour Bubble

Monster Bubble

Lifesaver x Sour Bubble

Sour Gum

2buds - It's a submersible pump, and so it actually sits at floor level, I'm surprised it doesn't have a built in check valve. Guess I'll have to add one to the line! :D
