Further ramblings

Further ramblings

I am drifting today...not totally out of it..but somewheres else. rehydrating/refueling...even in the dead of the night did I arise to take hits of EMT #5 (that sample I showed the other day)...amongst other things.

other things. I was hurting so bad yesterday that when I got home I took 3 tablets of Ibuprofen. That stuff...though I shunned it before..is very effective on the overall aches..and specifically...the hip soreness. A soreness so deep that...had I...driven a truck with a clutch to the event..I'd have been unable to drive myself home. My left leg would not have been game enough to operate a manual transmission.

Going to research the pros and cons of Ibuprofen..but I'll say: if I'd have taken it during the race...I'd have gotten in more miles. That is...whereas without the drug I couldn't move normally...with the drug I have back most of my mobility...even be it...that it still aches...I'm able to lift my legs to go up and down steps. Not to express that I feel like running right now...but at least..I'd be able.

So...Ibuprofen. Effective stuff.

Never sit down? I sat down. Some people took naps...some stopped running laps period...some people stopped and ate dinner..and had a beer in the restaurant. It was a fund raiser after all..for the club...for other race events. It had a party atmosphere. Various club members (those who chose not to race) showed up to cheer and help out. Plenty of pub patrons and friends/family filled the parking lot...as well.

Beware of the chair. Well...yeah...but this wasn't an over the mountains trail race. This was a different beast. I did sit down a few times...for about 20 minutes each time..but well after sun down. Think I sat in my chair 3 times...and after the 3rd time...sitting was no longer an option because of the cramping. But the other times I sat down..it was just great...called my wife and took time off my feet...but yeah..also had to convince myself to keep going.

* On my 140 pound frame...I probably lost 7 pounds during the race. I'm looking depleted today. It will take me a few days to get back. I'm pissing orange and my stomach is still a bit raw. My entire body is sore and tired.

^ So as not to be useless today as I recover. This is the revegging Early Mox Trilogy #3. She's putting out normal growth now. Her finished/cured flowers taste like a funky grapefruit....but more like a grapefruit hybrid would taste...as it's not exactly grapefruit...but somewhere in that field of play. Real good...and real funky. She found favor from my peeps who got samples of her. I have a few objective samplers. I don't tell them anything at all...just let them come to their own conclusions about whatever flowers are dropped upon them.

* I've got thrips and leaf hoppers..so pulled everything out of the veg room....sprayed and cleaned. This summer has been tough in the gardens. Inside and out...veggies and cannabis...I've had one threat after another. It gets hot and indoors slows down...nights get cold and veggie gardens slow down...on and on...have not had a real solid stretch of harmony all season. I'm fighting off the ground..

though I must convey that...I think I've mined out more golden Cannabis expressions than I've ever done before...in such a short time..with such a short count of subjects. I'm blown away with what I'm finding.

Early Mox Trilogy #3

Jaundice #2

are gold.

Easy Mox Trilogy #'s 5 and 7...I believe...will also be esteemed...mantled in gold.

beauty in the energy of chaos...dig deep down...it's at the core

i sense the patterns...understand there must be network..but to it all.....I can not say there is an ounce of control. Only favor

Awesome dude, way to gut it out....I'm doing good in my training for my little sprint, got my time under 55 minutes for an 11 mile loop, think maybe I can crack 50 minutes...

* Fucked myself up a couple days ago...doing sets of Marine Corps mountain climbers followed by long chunks of up hill lunges on what I call a "sandbox" section of trail. Deep decomposing granite...like beach sand

anyways...I creamed my hamstrings/lower back/hip flexors...for no apparent reason. I was pretty sore all day yesterday. Not too bright.

way better today. Should not effect my race.

I was forced to change my strategy late in the night. I became very sore in my left hip/ass cheek..cramped up..my hip flexor there..having trouble bringing my knee up.

So maybe it did affect your race. Sounds brutal. I could never have pushed through the monotony of such a thing myself. Having other racers take time off to eat at a restaurant and enjoy a beer must have been a mind twister... kinda takes away from the competitive atmosphere and its motivation. Quite a story you just related to us.

avoid industrial food products, remember evil.

bursitis is no fun. on teh internet, oh yah ppl say "few weeks, maybe months" it took me about a year to sit in chairs again, 6+ months of leg bending being intolerable. have to stand or lay down. at almost 20 months now, i can sit alright, but not frequently or at length.

that driven kind of deal never works for me. i get to a point, and say, that's enough, and do something different. life would be pointless if we were all the same :)

bud!

im tellin yah,you would be a natural at single speed mountain biking...lots of suffering, lots of pushing it to the edge to preserve momentum...its a grunting good time...and riding a rigid frame single speed keeps you honest...

Yup I'm in unc's camp, as I once shared in Zen maintenance. At 140lbs of thigh muscle, I could see this whip squeezed between jerichos thighs. Further blowing the minds of those he passes along the way, whew! Ooo rah, piece of cake, good for you, good for me, hell yeh, louder now, left foot, left foot...

And a charcoal grill, even our food is smokey whew

The friends I have on here...much appreciated. I listen to your opinions and views..with respect.

1. I did some research on Ibuprofen...and it sounds like something I should not be ingesting...especially after beating on my kidneys for many hours. It does work on eliminating much of my aches...but the downsides are there. It's not natural.

2. My form/body starts breaking down around 11-13 hrs into the distance. I need to keep reaching those hours/miles and learn to adjust to them. I've only been those distances twice. 50 miles and beyond is where I need to work. Up to 50 miles I'm a beautiful runner.

3. Yes..that training day of mountain climbers and lunges..probably did come into play during the 24hrs of running. I kind of figured it would..but didn't want to acknowledge it..as sometimes you can get away with slipping the memory...and forgetting the stupid thing you just did. I'm not wanting to use it as an excuse for anything though...it was going to be a long day anyways.

4. I got a lot of props during the race...on my milage, form, and aspect....though I was having trouble digesting the compliments at the time. The mental games are vast...I'll tell you...the mind projects some crazy shit that seems perfectly normal...but when looked back on...it seems totally fucked...and there could not possibly be any sort of rationalizing going on.

anyways...I'm going to breakfast with the wife. I'll be racing the Noble Canyon 50K in 19 days....got to get myself back together for it.

easy mox trilogy expression #5

^ I smoked down an earlier flower sample (the one I showed before..61 days old) of expression #5...and was happy with the head and flavor. Really nice soaring high comes out of inhaling a resin..that I don't want to commit to a known flavor..though it is good and hits the back of throat..perhaps..as only a kind bud can.

so...I decided to chop down the entire plant on days 65 and 66...and get her trimmed up.

maybe a bit Hazy here. flowers abundant but light...weak support branches forced a creeping down stature in which many wire ties were used to support her into a more vertical...upright..position

* I have a couple clones of her. I really want to see her grown in fall/winter room conditions. All the plants I've been harvesting recently went through some long dark hours (as long as 48hrs) and hot days and nights...so I'm not seeing them at their best..

however...that's not to say they are not coming out nice. I haven't seen any blown out stress or anything like that..and the final product from many expressions has been really quite good. #5...for example...gets me high as hell..and while I had her sample around..my bowl was kept filled with her. I'm looking forward to these flowers drying..so I can put some away for a cure.

** Some bad news. My revegging EMT #3 looks like she's shitting the bed. Not sure what her problem is. I knew I shouldn't have taken her picture the other day. I'll be bummed as hell if she dies on me.

*** EMT #7 is the most sativa dominant plant out of the sisters. She's in flush now..looking to turn over quickly. I was breathing her in this morning and swear I got that Chemmy aroma off her..the same one the Queen Moxie clone has. Developing late into that atmosphere is a very positive sign that #7 is going to work out to my desire. She's a really pretty vine too.

<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Drove my wife to the Noble Canyon trailhead (bottom trailhead) this morning...and dropped her off there. She ran the 10 miles up to the top (around 1600' elevation gain)...where I met her again with a ride back down. While she ran (2.5 hrs) I hiked around...stretching out my body..getting it used to trail again. I ran a little...but just to see where my recovery was. I'm feeling good...healing up..no issues.

I don't want to run Noble Canyon again until the race. I know it really well..having run it many times..in about every condition..so I'm not going to train on it. I'd rather it be fresh

Absorb...Meditate...Breakthrou gh...Push Beyond

Decided..this morning..that the Chimera 100 Mile race Nov 14-15th is where all the racing during this 2015 rookie season has brought me. That race has drawn me in since the first time I read about it. Like a magnet.

SD 50M to the Oriflamme 50K to the Lost Boys 50M to the PCT 50M to the SD 100M to the Julian 24HR to the Noble Canyon 50K to the Cuyamaca 100K.......symbolically becoming the creature of mythology

The Chimera 100M is intimidating to me at this stage. Two more races before we face each other...

The Motto now:

Absorb the pain

Meditate in the pain

Breakthrough the pain

Push Beyond the pain

The next 3 months are going to be punishing. I'm going full tilt the rest of the way. Committed. I am not at peace.

^ My baby. Been watching Easy Mox Trilogy expression #7 since veg. Easy to see her in veg. She has thinner sativa leaves...skinny fingers....

Here...she's 60some days old...flushing...multiple tops bent and cropped...wired and hung...branches and flowers everywhere

a pretty girl...handles the summer heat well...and now with those chemmy aromas..

* Probably goes without saying...but just to emphasize:

I don't see much commercial value in any of my "keeper" selections. Most of my favorite girls do not put out weight. Their flowers generally weigh up like styrofoam. Most are also...not easy girls to contend with...as far as...structure. Vines. I love my plants...but they are not for the commercial cultivator.

** way back when...I used to say that I was creating my own "landrace" population...kind of a silly way of saying that I was creating a population of killer expressions which would adjust and thrive in my dry hot dry cold no frills indoor environment. Well...upon reflection..that has not changed. It seems that's exactly what I've been doing for these last bunch of years. Sometimes I forget though...and sometimes I have to get back to basics. I'm not a scientist or a genetic engineering genius....no god's great gift to gardening or breeding plants...

but...

I do get visions...and I do work my way through these perceptions. I have never yet stopped questing...even though..I do not believe in the Grail

im feeling pretty good about the next 3 months myself, the race is in a bit over a week, just did my 10th lap on the race loop, even took a header today...put in 3 solid laps on the single speed, pretty consistently around 55 minutes for the 11 mile loop, everyone else i have talked to racing cat3 has been more around an hour to 1:05 range...and those are younger riders than me...and not riding rigid frame single speeds...

but after this i think no more racing...i say that now but really i think i want to start knocking off more bucket list rides...not so much frantic zooming around, and certainly more bowl breaks...plus racing is expensive,67 bux for this one...thats a lot of pb&j sammiches and trail mix that would take me to new places...

I hear you. Some of my races cost me $250...all are over $100...but considering all the needed logistics..and organization that goes into these things...especially when some of the courses take more than a day and a night to complete..I feel my costs are fair. I get a lot of good schwag as well. Shit that I actually use.

I'm volunteering at the Laguna Trail Marathon (ran it last year)... Nov 8th which is another club fund raising event. Ultra races require the need for a lot of volunteers. Most everyone who isn't racing an event will be volunteering at the event. That's how it works....people give back. Otherwise....it would be impossible to staff the races. The marathon is the weekend before the Chimera..and me..wanting to save my body for that race..see a good place and time to volunteer myself for the race and club. Plus...that race hands out a long sleeve Patagonia shirt..which..is one of my favorite shirts to run in...and I know they aren't cheap. I'm still wearing last year's shirt..but it's stained and ripped senseless...time to get me another

Also signed up for doing trail work again..next month...and will be doing that all winter long. The state and federal agencies have a hard time keeping up on all the trail maintenance so there's the Trail Fit organization...mostly made up of ultra runners and hikers..who get trained and carded to work on the trails. I'm already well versed on how to build and maintain trails..and it's something I like to do. It's a mellow work environment and shit gets done....no stress at all. We work for a few hrs then eat lunch...call it a day...put the tools away.

I'm way happy that I finally started getting involved with racing. It's such a gnarly sport....the running...the terrains...the people. I'd have a difficult time trying to reach the distances I want to go without the organization and the people working behind the scenes. Got to pay to play. The training comes free.

Things keep..

Things keep..

or things that keep? Watching myself change. This summer has been all consuming.

Started...a couple weeks ago....to run outside myself. To watch myself from above myself. Like how a helicopter films the Baja races...from angles above and out..so that the body is seen as it reacts to the featured terrain...the trucks floating

imagine if I could run like that for hours. to have that amount of discipline and focus. all consumed by self...what is...what i see..how i see

Never once did I go there in the 24hr run. I never even tried. Why? forgot the skill

^ Strawberries (Alpine possibly or maybe wild.) that I transplanted at the beginning of June..and have since been...dedicated to keeping them progressing on a daily bases. There's a combination of oak logs..rocks..and grow bags retaining this section of hill. It's actually a brilliant combination of retainment...but will be covered by the strawberries...if...all goes as per plan. Edible retaining wall. These berries are everbearing, small, and super sweet. I've been cultivating them for many years now. Lush plants

^ Drying Estaceno peppers for powder and one of my several Jalapeno plants in full fruit. The night temps are already dropping below 50 degrees. As far as I'm concerned summer ended with August. This is a difficult place to garden...say it..every year. I'm a masochist for putting in so much time and effort. Next month I start planting garlic again....so fuck it...I'm ready to move on.

^ Three Jaundice #2 clones. From now on...I'll be referring to her as "J2". This is an excellent expression. I'm looking forward to her run as a clone.

<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Been starting up the motor again. Push ups, pull ups, and dips. Getting ready to start hitting the trails again.

Be training on Guatay mountain for the next couple weeks. There's no marked trail there...but there is an old fuel break/jeep trail that goes up and onto the ridge line. Typical of these sorts of accesses there are no switchbacks. Guatay is a steep climb...and tricky because it has several false tops. It's an ass kicker...with one section that is unrunnable. This is where I'm going to train hills. Short piece..5 mile round trip..but I'll be doing repeats on some sections.

Now that's interesting... I often travel that way through life :)

Guatay Mountain is a great place... walked there, did not run, but remembering the vistas and the trail it seems like a great place for you to stretch your legs and your mind.

Have a happy training time out there in the wilds!

Thanks, man.

It's a great hill. I was up there today. Repeated several sections and smoked a bowl at the summit. Spent a little over 1.5 hr practicing going up and down and over those rolling rocks.

Be running out of there all week long.

Prelude to a Prologue

Prelude to a Prologue

a massive cloudburst yesterday....towering...rising 10's of 1000's of feet until it could hold on..no longer

neighbor measured 1" of precipitation in 20 minutes. amazing walls of water...but alas

coming from such altitudes

it delivered buckshot sized balls of hail. destruction.

^ fall crop of Fava beans...broken and beat

^ Pepper plants, squash, and tomato plants nicely mangled

^ Closer look at a Chinese 5 Color pepper plant..much more devoid of its leaves.

* Expecting more of the same again today...and I think...tomorrow. It's great getting the much needed rain...but I'm hoping it doesn't come with the hail this next round.

Cleaned out the gutters this morning...swept off the roof...ready for the next cloud

** I did get in a punishing run after the cloud had dissipated (yesterday)....watched a helicopter and spotter plane circle a lightning start...a bunch of ridges over. Not that any start was going anywhere

ran hill repeats...went to a sandbox section and did lots of uphill lunges

the humidity made me into a sponge...the hill work from the last couple days gassing my legs out. tired today

The Land of Plenty

The Land of Plenty

This summer's explorations into Early Mox Trilogy has produced two trophy expressions. I've explained #3...the expression I never cloned..but attempting to reveg. That was going so well...and now..after bud death took even the new fresh growth..it is not going so well. I have a 2' stalk with only a tiny green leaf hanging..less than defiant...off its side. For now...we'll forget that...forget #3 and move on. what is...is.

Easy Mox Trilogy = Mox Mox X Blended Pollens

Mox Mox = Chem DD X TFlux

TFlux = Original Flo X Chem DD

Blended Pollens = Casey Jones f2, Triesel, Purple Bastard Haze f2

^ This is some amazing stuff. My gods bless thy vines...let them go forth and reign

Easy Mox Trilogy expression #7 is a gift. #7......she be Plenty. The Land of Plenty. A Queen. "Queen Plenty"...no questions..no need to wait on the clone run...she's made a Queen from seed.

everything I like in my flowers. She's dominated by a Chem Wreck funk in her flavor..hydraulic metallic citrus juice..gooey/oily...(I tried early samples at 61 days...and harvested 67 day old samples...no cure...still moist)...grows in a creeper thin leafed sativa crawl...super flimsy skinny branches...green on green coloring...lime to aqua colored buds that are light styrofoam but plentiful. Messes scissors up fast...rotated 2 pair..soaking them in rubbing alcohol.

you'll remember I documented her in veg....said how because of heavy sativa aspects..she caught my eye and was easy to pick out of the population...so true...I've been watching her like a hawk. The most sativa dominant plant in my population.

* Which pops made Plenty? That's tough to say...but I'll eliminate the Triesel (I could go into detail about #4 and #6 which were..I'm sure..Triesel fathered expressions..but in short...they are not desirable) so that leaves The Casey Jones f2 and the Purple Bastard Haze f2. Coin toss....as both Casey and Bastard Haze throw heavy sativa dominants...I can't really say. Doesn't matter in the scheme of things but ok...the creep makes me feel like there is Trainwreck genetics showing (from the Casey)...but to be clear..that's just my feeling...I really have no idea

** I'm going to hand some flowers out to a couple testers. I've found the best...objective..people to use as testers are professional beer brewers...though I'm sure that makers of wine would be prime testers as well. Moonshiners...probably not so much. But yeah...a lot of brewers (I've found anyway) are also herb connoisseurs..and are used to describing flavors and the like...so to make sure I'm not out of my mind...I like to have my favorite expressions objectively sampled...see what's what

sometimes the love of cultivating a certain expression may blind the cultivator from his true north. then the deceptions start in...rip currents into mediocrity. this will not do.

hence objectivity outsourcing.....mad attempts in pulling awesomeness out of the genetic mire

** I already know something. I know that Queen Plenty will way surpass the acid test. I have zero doubt. My testers are going to be stoked. Flavor and high are desirable.

But the fuck. It's just another spin of repeated genetics thrown together in a different way. I'd complain..but why?....it still works for me. I get different looking plant expressions..that still share...similar flavor and high traits. And I mean...I'm mixing and mashing here.

Vines are where it's at. That's my conclusion. I believe vine expressions...originally came out of a SE Asian gene pool. I believe they are from a lowland jungle. I find them elevating yet heavily narcotic. I can't ask for much more. They please me to no end.

<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Have I been training?

I'm getting to know the rugged mountain that is Guatay. It's an abusive set of hills...the ridge line not peaceful...the approach to the ridge line not peaceful....up or down..it kicks me in the ass. It's a slippery and steep exposure...of rolling rocks and their washes. Still have my ankles...still have my teeth..

I'm racing next weekend...so I'll be winding down the training in a few days. Get a good rest and recovery in..before running Noble
