.....and

.....and

Haven't even touched this Hell Hound expression yet. She's that squat bush (3.5' tall)...in which..I've mused was dominated by the lingering C99 genetics. Not sure I'd say those musings were in line with what she has become...now...70+ days

No citrus..no pineapple...just a mellow funk. Aroma has that Hell Hound touch...but she's not the most overpowering waft..like...some of her sisters are.

Odessa style stacking pinecone flowers...not super dense (like the OG dominated expressions) nor super airy (like the vine expressions)....this Hell Hound girl has hung back...taken her time....and made lots of flowers.

* Looks similar to the "Tropical" Hell Hound F1 mother I used as one of the bean donors...for this run. Lacks the aroma..but structure and shape are accurate

** Have a feeling...she'll have a long creeper head...I don't know why...but something about her demeanor..the way she hangs back..not craving attention

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? What is this??????????

This is the tied down head of the Red Kali Mist F5 (selection #3)...fighting to get herself free of her rigging...as full stretch...full vigor has gotten ahold of her. This one is a fighter

* I'll most likely be training her (and her sisters) into a piece of trellis in the coming weeks. I'd start now....but I'm planning on pollinating her...so will need to be able to haul her ass..out..to another room...for the pollination

I have some old redwood fencing...that I'll lean on the wall...behind the plants. It will be a simple/efficient way of training them onto the wall...a comfortable distance away...from the bulbs. It'll ensure that the plants can't fall forward.

** These are sativas...no doubt about it. So far...they are still foreign to me. Don't think I've ever grown any other sativa hybrids..that remind me of them.

...don't seem like a Haze hybrids...don't seem like Chimera's thick branched Highland Mex hybrid...that silky expression is different. The closest I could come at this point...would have to be...something Flo related...and I'd only say that...because..Flo had that "foreign" feel (though not silky). Vigor wise...no way like Flo. I'll have a better assessment in a couple weeks...I need to see the flower formations

Fun plants...I'm watching

I had 3 of 4 Panama sprouts do that same cabbage deal a few weeks ago....they grew out of it straightaway and you'd never know it now. Lookin good, P. Pretty seamless transition to vert, it seems...great work dude.

Yeah...I'm making the drama...for the sake of the story. I have no doubt they are growing out of it. Be kind of cool..if they didn't though..as that would be some funky assed expression

Your tip on peeling the smart pots off...for transplant...was totally right on btw. I tried it the other day...on a 3 gal pot..after harvest. Yup...that works. I'm still going with dropping the pots into the new homes...just because it's easier...and I'm lazier.

Vert is much better for me. It appeals more to my sense of how plants can be trained. So much more prefer...filling out walls...rather than creating mushroomed canopies.

* Burned the hell out of my forehead the other day...lucky it was on the 600 and not the 1000. Left a burn mark the size of a quarter. Woke my ass up

lol I think I have bulb burn scars from the 80's still :D
Learned my lesson, but about lit my hair on fire a few times since..

I swear by vert bulbs, whole different ballgame.
Verts grow huge unshaded spears, not 12" of semi-shaded canopy.

Still mesmerized by them hellhounds! ;) awesomeness...

more comings and goings...

more comings and goings...

This morning...way in the predawn...I took down the rest of a very excellent Hell Hound expression. Harvested off her for the last couple weeks...but had left the majority of her flowers until deciding...that at or past 80 days..it was time to take her out. Started taking her in yesterday's garden session..and finished this morning.

She was the most OG Jam influenced plant (flower structure wise)..grew like a bush...yet had strong straight up and down branching. Nothing weak about her. A total pleasure to cultivate...and to smoke...great vert plant

Here's some of her nuggets...from this morning's session...lightly trimmed for the pictures

So far...I've found..but one...seed on her. By god...I'm looking for any and all...as I'd for sure use them. Any replication of this girl...welcome. Still have two boxes to manicure...so hopefully...I can come up with more beans

* So...the 3 gal of coco I grew this plant in..will now become bedding for my upcoming worm farm

** In my next Hell Hound run....I want to rather...mimic some of the expressions found...in this run. My intentions are to grow the run from selfed beans. I saved beans from that killer "Vine" expression (smoke is soooo speedy/fast)...along with that blended expression...and now...any beans I find on this Kush expression...are of high value.

The jury is out on the blended expression...not thinking I want to grow it again...but the "Vine" and the "Kush" expressions are not in question. They also represent the very ends of the expression spectrums. Their highs are different..but both..are very potent and very heady. Flavor package..resin package...all go

...If there are any beans found on the squat expression...and if she smokes out proper...I'd also be interested in running those...as well.

odd, thats the working title for my new book! it never fails to amuse me that instead of having something like a new tv or some typical consumer good i bought a house full of plants instead,as if i dont already spend enough time as slave to my vegetable masters now im going to an outdoor garden as well.....no coincidence that its the females we mostly have to tend to in the pot gardens since they are about the fussiest plants to take care of,and love to find ways to spend your money....

Couple of the most deformed. The real short one...seems to have popped up to look more like cabbage...than cannabis. They are funky looking...but actually moving along...as far as...I can tell

* As Madjag mentioned finding similar looking stuff in some Afghani genetics...maybe..the Deep Chunk is playing out? Not even sure if Deep Chunk is Afghani...but being all indica......I'm speculating.

** I'm watching over them...they don't seem upset..some a little hindered...but all are making leaves and roots

Lol! those 2 look fucking confused. When I grow the Greens, I'll definitely be sure to plant twice as many as I think I'll need.
The Deep Chunk is an old Afghan line. Dcong leaves in veg will show the Deep Chunk influence, but it won't be nearly as extreme. The Chunk grows ridiculously huge fans!

Thanks Pabs, I'm lovin the show!

You're a good pheno man!!!

I hope u get sativa effects from the rkm...I can only say that in my past, she was indeed a pleasing sativa strain and smoke. Here's hoping!!!

Broke out my old vaporizer

Broke out my old vaporizer

Nothing like what's happening in the north east part of the country...but here...we are under snow and cold...for at least the rest of this day..after which..there is better...more favorable weather rolling in.

Got a composting worm bin up and running in my house...bedded them down with recycle coco (from a Hell Hound sister harvest), glacial rock dust, kitchen veggie compost, and blackened leaves off a cottonwood tree

Nursing the indoor studios through some cold day and nights...can always tell..when the are just a wee bit too chilly

Took this lower sample branch off that squat Hell Hound sister this morning...wadded up the manicured sugar leaves...and vaporized them fresh

...vaporizes into a fuel flavor..a tad bit of citrus on the backend. Leaves a wash of funk in the mouth...dreamland kind of high..but that could be only based...on my current condition. I've been vaporizing all kinds of different Hell Hound expression since predawn

Day 2 of a pain in the ass head cold...caught at a super bowl party...when I was wore down after 3+ hours of hard running..Shouldn't shake hands with sick peep

trimming in a 1/2 slumber....on a Twin Peaks marathon (That's the show David Lynch helped write and produce early 90's...if you are into Lynch...you know his style...only made 2 seasons)

Took the rest of this expression..

Took the rest of this expression..

yesterday (I think)...I'd been picking off her for a couple weeks..another Kush expression...past 70 days..not as impressive as her bigger sister (showed her harvest last week)...but still...from the early samples....a really fine smoke

Twin Peaks scared the fuck out of me last time I saw the whole thing....every damn scene is so charged...eerie. Lynch is a bad-ass. Even his version of dune, which is kind of cheesy at times, has it's moment.

Dude...upon closer scrutiny the more vine-like Hounds look a lot like my crazy sativa Accidental. Now that I've dialed it in(heavy de-fol and pruning, increased dark period, periodical flushes, less N) the resemblance is striking. I get it now...it's a hotrodded OG. Typical that she would hold off on showing her true potential until her last run..... But it's good to know that those expressions are in there.

Viral disease is bullshit...It's unfair for something that barely amounts to an organism to be able to fuck a mighty primate up like this. I've been wrangling a cold that began last week...Hitting the neti pot to keep the sinuses open and just trying to power through. No mas....had to take today completely off.
Loading the blender with oranges, blueberries, greek yoghurt, lots of spinach for the body.Mixed bowls of Accidental(GK-ish mutant) +ThaiIce bud and Henry Rollins for the mind. True plant medicine!

Whoa, you're spooking me out! This a.m. I was playing 'The Music of Twin Peaks', all the music from the series & movie, as befit the mysterious snowscape outside.

I don't play it too often.

I got the link from my fav music bloggie, Aqaurium Drunkard several yrs. ago. If you go to Wikpedia w/ Music of TP, I think the link is there now too.

Just got two more worm trays for my bin to max it out @ 7 trays.
I could see getting another bin, 14 trays would be some killer castings! :D

Chillin' by the fire, hazed out. :kos:

do you enjoy those petroleum-ish aromas and flavors? must be a heavy compound as it seems to float near the base end of fuely plants, doesn't seem to be very volatile. what other plants can you think of that have that particular aromatic resonance/terpene expression?

I do enjoy the petroleum aromas and flavors. When I was vaporizing those fresh sugar leaves yesterday...the fuel/funk flavors hit 1st...followed by the citrus (?)

I don't own a top of the line vaporizer...it's easy to overheat and burn the samples...but with practice/patience..I can get it just right...and with eyes closed in concentration..I can pick out the flavors. Vaporizing...I feel...is a pretty accurate way of testing flavor.

I've found fuel flavors in some Casey Jones....Odessa (of course)...Chem/Diesel lines. Pretty much...just in that family tree

* I wish I had a better way of describing what...I call...fuel flavors...because it's really almost a cheap way of trying to describe..deep-back-of-the-throat funk. The kind that hangs afterwards.

Collecting Pollen

Collecting Pollen

I've had a bunch of chaotic occurrences in both the flower and the veg studios the last couple days...a busy week followed up with a head cold...at the same time that environmental conditions change due to outdoor weather...a chain of reactions...nothing is ever just one thing.

A learning curve with the bottom feeding almost cost me some valuable plants. I've decided to keep bottom feeding in the veg studio...but once into 5 gal smart pots and in flower...I'm top feeding. I damn near killed my #1 selection Prune Juice...only a few days...into flower. Took me those few days...to realize..she wasn't getting enough fluid. Roots had not spread enough...in earnest...to supply the necessary amounts. Possibly due to not removing the 1 gal root pouches..my timing was off.

The Dcongs...this morning...had some sprouts starting to show PH issues in their starter peat squares of perlite/worm castings...so I went ahead and transplanted most into beer cups of coco. Staying ahead of the curve..listening to what they were saying. Most of them are growing out of their deformities.

AND....up until yesterday...I was really concerned my Prune Juice males were shocked by the cold weather/not the best access to light (which occurred about the same time as their exile out of the flower studio).....so shocked...that they would shut down pollen production

Thankfully...they started dropping. I'm thinking the tide has turned on this head cold...the weather...and the chaos in the studios

After all this garden time...I still get fucked around sometimes. Months go by...everything running like A Clockwork P...then shit simply...goes awry. Then it's back to basics...check for fuel, spark, and air....mechanics of mechanisms...splitting atoms..flowing particles...drifting currents in the breeze

its easy to get lulled into routine in the garden...formula X works time after time for you until thse sudden shifts occur and yet i still find myself blindly following my set pattern...not to mention by the time lights on happens i have generally been smoking bowls for 12 hours so i may not be at my sharpest....im not sure whats worse, something going wrong and not knowing whats happening or something going wrong and knowing 100% its your fault! and knowing perfectly well how to have avoided the issue in the first place....my new mantra...pick the frickin pot up before you water! dont water blind...

I was so concerned with overwatering...that I misread what some of the plants were saying. I thought I had overwatered...because the pots still held fluid. What it was: not enough roots getting down fast enough at the same time as...night and day temps running on the cold side (so plants uptake slowed)...which also...(pretty sure) changed the PH of the coco. When lights came on...they looked fine...but after a few hours of light...they wilted. The bottom feeding method...came back to haunt me...in this circumstance. I went from the top this morning..and what do you know...they no longer wilted

Fucked with my head...when my head was full of snot...and in no mood to deal with bitching plants

I think I fixed everything this morning...but yeah...routines can be deadly. Remain humble...remain alert...sleeping behind the wheel only works for a short spell...my plants are demanding of me...and it's my obligation to keep them well

transitioning from worm castings and peat starter squares..into beer cups of coco

* At this point there is no longer Greens and Purples..no segregation..no labels...only a population. We get what we get...and we continue on. Many were culled...some for deformities..some for no reason

my question was more in regards to other plant species besides cannabis that exhibit that particular collection of aromatic compounds...geraniums?
