A World On A String

T

THE PABLOS

We have a TV...but it's a hand me down...and not even a flat screen. I've never bought a new TV in my life.

I'm going to a super bowl party a couple villes over. I'm planning to run over...using trails, roads, and power lines. Hilly ass run. Probably take me 3 hrs.

Ran with the wife today...took her off the trail..cutting through the timbered woods..then snaking back down onto the trail..ran her for a few miles...then left her to run home. Strong run today.

Yeah worms....there is some dude named Uncle Jim in PA...that has some cool stuff. Apparently has high quality worms for sale. I'm feeling my way around...but going to order some worms. I also like those $99 5 bin worm farms...they have the spout at the bottom to drain the juice and harvesting castings is made easy. Probably worth the money.

Starting with some plastic tubs that I already have. Drill some drain holes in the bottom...some breathing holes in the sides..and some in the lid. Going to elevate it...and let it drain into another tray. Pretty big tub...should give me a cheap start. I was going to use mushroom compost, glacial rock dust, and garden/kitchen compost.

Do you see any problems with bugs following worm bins? I want to start my indoor farm beside my indoor studio gardens. I'm concerned about bringing in bugs though. Not so much in winter...but in summer. I have a really good spot to build my worm farms in there..and it sure would be cool having it all together. My mind is munching the situation.

I have the 5 bin Worm Factory, worth it, it's built w/ purpose.
I may have gotten a 1/2 C of juice outta that spout. :biglaugh:
As it is, I think I run it too wet. I add paper and have a 30 gal. barrel w/ outdoor sifted compost that I layer in to finish off, along w/ kitchen scraps and dryer lint.
In summer, there are bugs in there. Lil white ones live on the inner lid and top layer, along w/ a few various flies & mealy bugs. It's awesome when it's warm out, the worms are all over that top layer, going nuts, along w/ all these other living things.

Cool stuff..insect hotels. Anything micro climate is interesting to me. Creating little worlds.

Yeah that worm factory...I'll be getting me at least one of those. Not right away though. I ordered a 1000 red wigglers off that Uncle Jim's site. Should have something up and going next weekend. Importing worms...to start my population. Once I get a feel for them...I'll start getting the gear.

I'm going to go ahead and create the indoor farm next to the indoor gardens. Think if I keep both sites maintained and clean...there hopefully..will be no issues.

My overall plan though...is keeping large farms going outdoors...believing that I have a great location and plenty of food for them. I'm really thinking...those large smart pots will work out well...for what I want to do.

I picture whenever I need some...I can go over and screen me out some castings. A continuation of the empire of dirt

Dismantling a Hell Hound

This thing has hung around long enough...70+ days? Around there. Been on the tea for around 3wks...lingering...wafting...perfumes. Decided to clear her out

I'll be making some moves this week...getting some Prune Juice transplanted for flower. Things are moving along

beginning of Day 3...and you can see..the Dcong sprouts answering the bell

Unc, I've grown a fair amount of PTK, about 100 plants. Was it on the lower part of the plant the the male flowers kicked from? Happened to me in my first grow of the line. There are some very kushy phenos to be found, but there are also a ton of mixed type phenos that seem to have a touch less indica in them. It was one of those types that hermed on me.

yes, exactly,it appears to be just one open flower on the very lowest part of the plant.the buds are rock hard and smell like vics vapo-rub,it doesnt at first glance appear to be super productive, but it is very frosty...

Pushing with Purpose

Pushing with Purpose

Physically very tired today. I've had...besides the runs...lots of grunt work this past week. In one of those sleepwalking stages...flowing on the influences of juice, herb, and yerba mate tea...with lots to do this coming week.

Spent the morning harvesting...cleaning..composting...and transplanting. Here's the first 2 Prune Juice I've selected for flower

Dropped their 1 gal root pouches into 5 gal smart pots. Two different expressions...with one...for sure...getting bred. Give them a few days to get used to their new housing..root them up a bit...then off they will go

* Not much stretch on those Prune Juice males thus far. Short shrubs of pollen (hopefully)

im psyched cause i may have found someone to ride with, she wants to start training for triathalons and needs someone to train with, perfect for me as im generally too unmotivated to just go ride,i may go out of my way doing errands but thats different than just nose down mindless pedaling...
i messed my wrist up this week building a bed,had zero strength in that hand for a couple of days...not to mention the stabbing pain...better today now that im sitting down for hours of trimming...busy time...flipping 2/3 of the flower space, about time to start seedlings for the garden, still have another bed to build....getting a dump truck load of pea gravel delivered...got a breezeway to tear down and rebuild....gonna be buying more tools to outfit the shop.....just got a bunch of cactus cuttings for the front yard landscaping.....busy times...fun stuff...

T

Pabs, which one are you looking to breed? The one on the right?

Maybe both...but for sure...the more squat/dark girl on the left. She'll most resemble the Urkle like expressions. A priority pollination..as I want to...at least...get this side of expression down into consistent seed. Both the original Querkle mom..and the F1 Prune Juice mom..looked like this in veg...and they were bitchin' plants. They were dominated by the purple urkle in the genetics.

I believe the other plant will become one of your more..healthy/vigorous Blueberry types..but I'm unsure of really what she is. Got to flower her...see what's on my line. Solid grower...solid plant

* The Prune Juice IX1 population is...more or less..split into two different expressions. Thus far...these two examples I'm showing have been the most extreme in their expressions. The dark beauty...I picked out way back...and this other girl stands out..because she is a light blushed...and the most vigorous.

I want this cross to be Blue and Purple...looking for deep down berry resin machines...flowers built like berries...tight and dense..in abundance. Not expecting sativa dominant hybrids...but it's possible

Edit: Remember...I've only ever had 2 Prune Juice F1 plants....the male and the female...so I can't say I have much experience with this creation. They seem easy going though...like no issue plants...get in there and get the funk out types. Can't imagine finding any junk in here. Should be all good.

Ahh, the thrill of the hunt...
I seem to get a hankering for a good Blue expression every now and then. I've got Prune Juice up on deck next, so I'm thrilled to get a peek at them now. Never had urkle before either.

I have nothing but good feelings about Prune Juice. Just looking in my veg studio...I'm sitting good with the upcoming runs. RKM, Prune Juice, Mox Krox, Mox Mox, and Dcong...I wish I could do a lot more. My focus is dialed.

* Looking at plants...and some of the recent outcomes in the Hell Hounds...I'm blown away about how my perceptions change...how expressions change...how things don't change

"..and even though your confidence may be shattered.." : Neil Young sings that in a song...and it came into my head...as I looked at what has been done...over these last bunch of years

The realization that I have no real idea of what I'm doing. That I preach Chaos...yet forget how completely wrapped...I live in it

I've got a hellacious run today...I need a will breaker..got to pay for the sins

Rushing in...Rushing out

Rushing in...Rushing out

The harvesting of Hell Hound expressions continues...and is all awesome.

Have a bunch of deformities in the Dcong sprouts...mostly on the Green side. No issues though...moving along well

Exiled Prune Juice IX1 males...getting close to pollen drop. Very little stretch

Speaking of stretch....here's those Red Kali Mist sisters getting going with their flower stretch. Their tops are still tied down

This week is slamming...I've got all kinds of shit going on

I'm not totally surprised to see those first set of leaves look like that. I've seen it before and the plants grew out of it. I just don't recall where I've seen it before...what line? I need to start documenting my plants in veg more thoroughly. Just built this computer and my pics are on an old drive. Sounds like an excuse to throw it in... got research to do.
What percentage of the greens are like that?

Almost 1/2 of the Greens are deformed...and just a few of the Purples. Strike rate was just under 100%...so the populations of the Greens and the Purples are about even.

Side by side...in the same tray...under same T5s. Maybe a nutrient thing? I've been putting a light tea in the tray..and letting them bottom feed. I mean...I'm fucking around with teas on everything..but even so..it's strange that it would affect one population more than another. This leads me to believe...it's not the nutrients or environmental.

They are growing strange clusters of leaves in some cases...in others...it's just in the 1st set of leaves...with the 2nd set looking like they will be typical. Sprouts appear healthy...some are slower..but others are not.

* I too...have seen this...just not in such #s. Not to be dismayed though...as I think..they'll work out of it.

** I'm going to experiment (due to logistics) keeping them in these 2" peat starter squares...for an extended time (couple weeks?). They are already well rooted...with a couple late pops a few days behind.

*** gave those sprouts straight RO water this morning...watching reactions..at this point...watering every other day

Hey Lean Green,

Look for a USB 3.0 HDD Docking Station (mine is called "Plugable"). They cost $25-40 and you merely slide in your old hard drive, plug it into a USB slot, turn it on, and you'll have access to the drive again.

My previous Maxtor hard drive fit perfectly...thank goodness because once my old computer died I had no way of retrieving 5 years of photos. I always backup my docs on a USB thumb drive so i was cool there, but I have too many photos to do that.

Pablo...last year I had several twisty leaf starts. They were on Seedsman's Afghani #1.

"I'm fucking around with teas on everything..but even so..it's strange that it would affect one population more than another. This leads me to believe...it's not the nutrients or environmental."
Maybe more genetic...vigor in youngsters and such.

....Was expecting my worm delivery today...but nope..so here..look at these

Here's the entire Dcong F4 population. There is an orange zip tie...stuck in the middle..as a divider between...the Greens and the Purples. It'll give you a fair picture..the Greens (with the majority of the deformities) are on the right side of the tie

A good idea of what the Green patch looks like...an overview of sorts. There are a few more typical/not deformed sprouts out of the camera's viewfinder

Couple of the most deformed. The real short one...seems to have popped up to look more like cabbage...than cannabis. They are funky looking...but actually moving along...as far as...I can tell

* As Madjag mentioned finding similar looking stuff in some Afghani genetics...maybe..the Deep Chunk is playing out? Not even sure if Deep Chunk is Afghani...but being all indica......I'm speculating.

** I'm watching over them...they don't seem upset..some a little hindered...but all are making leaves and roots

D

dramamine

I had 3 of 4 Panama sprouts do that same cabbage deal a few weeks ago....they grew out of it straightaway and you'd never know it now. Lookin good, P. Pretty seamless transition to vert, it seems...great work dude.
