Looking good everyone. New Killer Malawi S1 in the sun.

She should be getting into her stretch soon. Of course you can tell the significant difference between the bottlenecked genetics vs. Hybrid vigor.

Purple Haze x Malawi

But I’m hoping the bottlenecking will fix some serious power into the flowers on this one.

I’m curious dubi with the S1...seems it is not such a vigorous grower from bottleneck. I mean it grows well. Nice and green and abundant, but the P Haze x Malawi is easily 2+ times as tall. How does this S1 look compared to the New Killer Malawi? Do we need to wait until flower to really judge?

Hi Ur Humbl Nr8tor,

You are right, you can not compare the vigor of an Oldtimer's Haze x sativa F1 hybrid vs an inbred S1 parent plant, S1 offspring is well known to have lesser vigor compared with the same line not selfed. Doesn't mean much about the final quality, i consider S1 lines more suitable for breeding than anything else. Glad to see her already showing signs of flowering, hopefully it means an early harvest too.

I have a male OTH I’ll possibly dust this with. Also some F13 pollen I’m unsure about viability. If the flowers are nice, I’ll save a clone for future breeding efforts. Very early flowering signs...so I think November is still likely but we will see how she grows together. Here’s a few in the sun today.

Hi Ur Humbl Nr8tor,

Since we at ACE have already explored a lot the Oldtimer's Haze x Malawi hybrids (in Purple Haze x Malawi you are already growing and also in the Green Haze x Malawi limited edition) it would be more interesting to use the F13 pollen on your Malawi, this is something we have not tried yet.

I think that makes most sense, dubi. I have the F-13 pollen in the fridge. It looks as if that F-13 did pollinate a very diesel leaning Super Sour Diesel Haze when it was still alive, so I’m hopeful the pollen is sufficiently viable to make some crosses this year.

Just chopped a monster Malawi.
This is great smoke for the advanced user.
Took two more Malawi cuttings off the mother plant.

Looking forward to seeing whether this S1 of the new Killer Malawi is worth keeping for long term breeding. It’s squat and bushy and oh so beautiful.

Still just putzing around with the flowering.

No, it's just a single fem seed. The new malawi killer I think

If it’s the normal Ace feminizes Malawi, it should be the clone Old Malawi Killer crosses to some reversed females from generation 3, I think. Should be a bit more robust than my New Malawi Killer S1. Looking forward to seeing her grow!
