A Taste of Africa from Malawi

Just purchased my seeds waiting on arrival!!!!!!
You are going to love growing Malawi. The genetics from Ace are top notch and this Malawi is no exception. Good luck, looking forward to seeing those babies once they are out of the ground.
It's raining and overcast, so not much light in the greenhouse. I will get more pics when the sun is out in the next day or two. Here is an updated pic from today of M-4, she is the one that will be ready to harvest first. Still around 20% clear and can't find any amber.

Peace, God bless

Solar logos. Hope she cures up nice for some top notch smoke!!
Thank you my friend. The general consensus around here is that at least a 3 month cure to bring out it's best, so I will do my best to keep my hands off of it until it's properly cured. I'm going to make a few cobs to put away as well. If you haven't done so, read Tangwena's posts on making cobs the way they do in Africa. He is very passionate about it in his explanations and very detailed instructions; another excellent read on these threads.
Peace, God bless

I haven't posted M-1 for a while. She is the very narrow leaf Malawi.

She looks like she can be harvested, but I think she will go a little longer, wait for the trichomes to get a little more milky.

Peace, God bless

Hey
Just spreading my love for this amazing plant. Currently growing a number of Ace genetics and couldn’t leave Malawi out of the tent.
Always interested in something strong.
Here’s my girl at around 5 weeks flower. Starting to fill in nicely and noticed the sugar and some fan leaves are getting frosty. Smell is pungent and just smells like fresh weed. Nothing specific yet

Looking very nice for 5 weeks! As you noticed, Malawi's pack on the resin early. Ace's Malawi's are fun to grow, absolutely top notch genetics.
Peace, God bless

Thank you very much
Everything in my tent this round seems to be growing fast. First time trying out coco coir. Veg seemed to go really slow then once rooted they really took off.

I haven't posted M-5 for almost a couple weeks and she is going to start coming down. I think the trichomes are about as milky as they are going to get and the bud swelling has ceased for a while. She has been in flush about a week and I've removed most of the yellow leaves. No chemicals, just liquid organic nutes and soil amendments which I'm sure are exhausted, so it should be a fairly smooth smoke as long as cure goes as expected.

Peace, God bless

Hi SolarLogos,

I think you had doubts whether it is the right time to harvest your Malawis. I think your 3 Malawis (they are all Old Malawi Killer phenos) are all enough ripe, although to wait a few days more like you are doing usually adds that snowy layer of whitish resins and inflates the size of the trichomes in this Malawi strain. Growers looking for the most energetic and cerebral effects would harvest earlier than this stage, growers looking for the most devastating Malawi effects will wait until this point like you did.

Wish you have enjoyed growing our Malawi genetics, hope the females you grew provide the potency and effects you were looking for.

Hi Mountainkush,

Thanks for supporting our work, much appreciated. :)

Glad to hear you are exploring different ACE strains for the first time. Malawi is without any doubt one of our flagship strains and an excellent choice if you want to experience the most powerful african sativa effects.

Your Malawi looks very fatty and well developed after 5 weeks of flowering. Wish you enjoy the rest of the flowering!

Thank you very much for your reply and so much information. I have a much better understanding of growing pure sativa's than I did before this season. Growing the GT, Malawi and Honduran has been the most entertaining, educational and rewarding grow I've ever had. I owe a great gratitude to you Dubi, not just for the amazing genetics, but also the education and everyone else on here that helped look over my shoulder and post their grows for all of our learning.
I'm looking forward to next season's grow, OTH. I really enjoyed having plants in the greenhouse this late in the season. Two and half GT are down and half of one Malawi. It's a lot to trim at one time. I'll post on the GT tomorrow.
Peace, God Bless

Hi New Fish, glad to see you around.
I am not sure about N,but generally Malawis don't need food as usual anyway...
Beware Malawi stretch, at least x 3.

Boom
Consolidated.

Hi Conso glad to hear from you too! Sorry for the delayed response but i am busy with my job and i don't have enough free time. My own malawi seems that is not a typical malawi because she consume a lot of food!

She is in the 5th week of flowering it looks really good and healthy. Currently i feed her with AN nutrients and i have set the ec around 1.8 . I do super cropping to her at least once per week especially on the previous weeks during the stretching period.

She has stop to stretch so much and has the focus to make flowers. She is growing in an dwc system under 3 citizen cobs at 600 watt. I have in my tent two other plants from an other breeder as well but as usually ACE genetics impressed me. The difference between the plants is visibly.

So i post a photo from her!

Nice job NF. The super cropping you did will pay nice dividends. You are right, Malawi can handle higher feeding, at least mind did. Malawi is so good, it gives itself the munchies . I found that Malawi can actually handle 2 ec feeding quite well, however, I dialed mine down to 1.2, then 0.9 in flower and gave them a nice boost a couple of weeks before flush. They looked fine at the higher ec feeding, slight clawing, but they seemed to just look healthier at the lower feeding. Everyone has their own feeding schedule, but I was just looking to keep the leaves green and let the plants grow at a steady, gradual and uninterrupted pace. In other words, I didn't want to see sudden growth or change from feeding; I just wanted steady growth without over-feeding. Mine were in soil, 15 gallon pots, so that can also account for their ability to tolerate higher feedings.

Peace, God bless

Thanks Dubi, I’m enjoying all of them. Picked up 10 different strains and a mix fem pack. Started 8 so far as I love a mixed garden.

Here’s my Malawi fem at 9 1/2 weeks. Has been pretty interesting growing a pck and Malawi x pck along side her.

11 weeks in my flower tent. New pistils are slowing down now. Probably won’t be long for this one. My wife hates the smell of this one and I can’t figure it out. Slightly skunky crossed with rubber maybe. It’s weird. Tried a taster bud at 10 weeks and taste wasn’t bad in my vaporizer. Doesn’t taste like it smells at all but this was also a very immature bud from the bottom of the plant. High was clear and a bit racy. When I would sit still it seemed to hit me way harder. Excited to try the real deal when it’s ready.
