A question for the growers using Jacks 5-12-26

I don't blame you bro. It's taking me a while to line out my Jacks use as well. My circumstances are different but it wasn't as simple as 321 I had other issues going on... salt buildup causing lockout, res temps in the 50s causing lockout, etc...

I might comeback to it again someday as I really wanted it to workout but at this stage I'm wasting time, money and resources. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make because I really felt I was going to figure it out but now that I haven't I need some recovery time before experimenting more.

You may buy a cheap tent and setup a tester to play around with. I don't know what your space concerns or stealth situation is but I've got 3 or 4 ebay 4x4 tents here I setup when I want to fuck around with something.

Yeah good idea. I don't need a tent and I currently have tons of space but short on funds atm. Once I recover for a bit I'll for sure set up a one lighter separate experimental area. Good suggestion, thx.

Update: So just as I finally decide to throw the towel in on Jacks I go out to my shop today to get some work done and prep for the AN switch over and can't help but notice all my plants looking much greener now(about fuckin time lol). I now actually think the additional cal/mag is turning things around. It's enough of a improvement that I think I'm going to try to ride things out with Jacks and cal/mag for a couple more weeks. Think a little tweaking of the cal/mag is actually what I now need.

As always I'll keep you guys updated on the progress.

Are you using RO water?if not what is the ppm of water at the location?you should have enough cal-mag in your city tap water to compliment jacks ,if not then maybe that is your issue.

Yes I am using RO water. I was told that I shouldn't need cal/mag though with Jacks and the cal/nit(even with the R/O water). However that is turning out to not be the case. The cal/mag is definitely looking like the missing key that was needed.

I have this gg4 cut that really likes the added epsom. All of my other cuts (bbxnl, bbxww, MOB, white rhino, Pakistan valley, bbc, etc) all look perfect but these f*cking gg4 monsters are sucking the magnesium up like it's candy and they just can't get enough so I've had to start adding epsom on this first run in the new room.

I didn't notice a difference when I used the epsom. Sure noticing a difference with the cal/mag though. Now I need to figure out how much I should be using(I went full strength last week cause the plants looked like they needed it so badly) and see if I can find a decent company that sells it dry instead of bottles. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I'm looking for something that would be in comparison to the General Hydroponics Cal/Mag, but something I could mix myself type thing.

I run 5ml of calmag and 10ml of jacks and calnit and ph to about 6.7. I mix 880g into each stock solution. Im in promix hp watering to about 15% runoff.

Knew I couldn't be the only one needing cal/mag. What brand of cal/mag do you use?

So you’re adding calmag because you’re using promix? Also why 880 grams of calnit?i’ve been doing 880 of jacks and 580 of calnit 10 ml a gal for a while now in coco, but for my current cycle I inherited some plants in 10 gal pots of promix hp cc and iam noticing some deficiencies using that exact formula.

we have similar ppms but the ratios of calcium and magnesium may be different.

also strains may play a big factor, only started using calmag after I got true og and the rest seemed to like it so I ran with it

Got ya,i’am going to add some calmag and hopefully it works.

Does anyone know of a source of calcium with low nitrogen.
I was using biomin 5% N and 15% CA after stretch. But man that stuff starts to smell horrible after a week because of the soluble organic nitrogen.

It's needs to be easily dissolvable in water like 500 grams to a gallon of water for stock concentrate soultions.

Calcium chloride?

Worked for me. My plants are looking 1000% better now. Just in time too, phew!

Kinda makes me wonder if I even need the cal/nit now. Honestly looked like it was doing nothing. My plants were massively yellow, not just a bit. Gonna try the Jacks and cal/mag in veg soon, now that it seems I got a handle on things finally.

You’re going to need the nitrogen from the calnit in veg for sure. You’re not going to get enough of it in jacks only.

is anyone actually checking their media pH?

and I don't mean adjusting your nutrient solution pH, with pH down

That would explain it! I don't need cal/mag, but I use tap water.

Glad you got it figured out!

I'm talking about using the 5-12-26 and the cal/mag instead of the cal/nit. I now know first hand that I for sure don't get enough nitrogen from the 5-12-26 and Jacks cal/nit(even in flower).
