Hello.

I'm curious of how far a 50lb bag of turface will take me? How many 7 gallon feed bowls will one bag fill?

Thanks!

this is a cheap humidifier. 27 gal tote, float valve, nylon line, microfiber towels, trashcan to feed the float.

here i used 24 towels on the lines about an inch apart with their ends hanging in the water. water level set about 3-4".

you can just see the float valve in the middle.

off camera there is a fan blowing across the towels. you can control humidity somewhat by fan speed.

this room is approx 11x11x8 and tightly sealed.

this brought rh up from around 40% to around 70%. good for cloning.

Nice! At some point though its just easier to buy pre made shit. U can get a decent whole house humidifier for $150 or so, and u don't have to assemble anything. I love the float and extra res though since if ur in a low rh situation the tank will have to be refilled daily at least, If not more.

turface has a bulk density of 35 lb per cu ft. a cubic ft is almost 7.5 gals. 35 is .7 of 50 so a bag has 10.7 gals total. with loss from cleaning you should be able to fill two. i like to fill to about 1" from the top which will give a 5" medium depth. this about 5 gals.

horizontal ppk 4 per light

horizontal ppk 4 per light

Here was an attempt to do horizontal with a ppk like system. This was right after planting. I am still having some deficiency issues with purpling and pale yellowing on older leafs but other then that it works great. The muck system wasn't available when I built this, it's superior to this build

Doing hydro gardens 3-2-1 @ 600
the plants seem happy with well water and the base but when I add the calnit they look to head downhill. I am getting decent yields but am not getting the high brix levels I see some of you guys get.

Anyway delta thank you.

Who's up in the triangle? We should start a ppk group or something.

it looks like your missing something...

What are you using for a bottom bucket terminal? Can you post a pick of a side profile view.

At first I didnt see enough depth for a bottom bucket with an airgap in terminalc's pics? Am I the only one? Maybe I do now, just looked strange to me. I could be blind from all the vert bulbs Ive been around.

Looks like its working for ya either way terminalc! Thanks for sharing bud!

The raised platform in the center is the res. I'm using the 3.5 gallon bottoms with the older 3 wick system. 90 minute timing for 30 sec, air gap is about 4.5". I'm thinking my issues are nutrient related not irrigation but I'm just guessing at this point. Roots look better then ever.

The manifold was too expensive to scale up with all the plumbing parts, the 1" outlets are overkill, I'll be using 1/2" next build. Other then cost it works great though.

I'll take a few more pics when I get time, sharing is new and hard for me though. Trying to change my selfish ways as I've gained so much from you all.

:tiphat:sweet! Thanks for clearing that up. I noticed the platform in the middle, but thought it was only a 2x4 high. I need to get a new pair of method sevens, I've bought 3 so far and they all seem to disappear.

Can u see good enough to work in detail with the method 7's on? I feel like Im missing something when wearing sunglasses inside. I just turn off the hid's when doing any real work that puts my eyes in view of the lights. saves my eyeballs, and no burns when the light are off, as long as u wait 5 or 10 minutes.

I was just joking around. I used to wear old man polarized glasses over the operatorplus method sevens. I have asked method seven directly to make a polarized version, but they told me it wouldn't make a difference....my light meter and eyes feel differently.

I like to leave the lights on when I go in there with a light meter so I can see how the plants are doing. Also for checking hot spots.

When you gonna post some pics MM? You been on IC for under half a year and have more posts than me. I wanna see how you do your thing, sharing is caring ya know:biggrin:

terminalc,
Did you build one long rez the length of the room?

I can see how the manifold got costly....those valves!

I find that I like big reserviors, this one is a little shorter then room length because I needed room for the evaporative cooler and ahu.

In all fairness though I have a circulation pump and chilled water so this isn't a passive system.

I guess I don't actually see all of them, i dig around the outside of a bucket, and look at the color of the crown. The way I normally judge root health is to shake the crown of the plants, the good healthy plants won't budge and move the whole bucket. Sick ones you feel like your going to hurt them.
