Does anyone recommend airpots & could i use 6lt or go for 10lt airpots. First time grower in canna coco pro plus.I have a lot of reading to do in this thread Thanks Amaalza

It depends on how much light, plants per light, target yield per plant, how often u want to water. To speak generally, use the 10l, unless ur vegging for less than a month n or, doing sog, then use the 6l.

Im feeding at 1.3ec pH5.8 the runoff is reading at like .9ec roughly could this be because only feeding once a day and not multiple feeds atm? I've only just up to two feeds getting a lot more run off now and have turned it down so only trickling down the drippers. Plants look healthy tho just asking as would normally adjust my ec from reading runoff but plants are healthy. Any help be appreciated Bush Dr

Thanks

That's perfect. I'd roll with it. Instead of upping the ec, try n dial back the run off n feed more often, if plants r ready for it, after they r used to twice a day, n asking for more. The runoff ec will eventually raise due to the dry cycles, n that will help inform u that u need to water more frequently.

The ones that I liked the best for multifeed are the red bottom ones. I'm not certain what size they were, but I believe 10ltr. They are perfect for 6x multifeed. I've done straight coco, 70/30 coco/perlite and 50/50 coco/clay pebbles. My favorite set up for multifeed: 10ltr air pot, coco/clay pebbles....veg them to 25-36 inches and by the time they flip they are feeding 6x's/lights on and growing at a rate as fast as dwc or any fast hydro set up. Amazing. The air pots and aeration from the 50/50 chow mix makes it hard to over water, it's also the fastest to take several feeds a day. I use smart pots too bc they are really cheap but they don't perform nearly as well. They last forever and totally worth the cost.

The red are 6 liters.

Excellent info just started coco grow first time have 6 seedlings in 3ins pots all germed
And under 200watts of cfl but there stretching big time light is 5ins from seedlings.
Can I bury stems when I repot onto 6.5lts as suggested

2 of them dead down to 4 seedlings.

The 2 that died the coco was soaking

Regarding doing the bottom feeding, instead of top drip.

When you first plant a new rooted clone in a 7-8" tall smart pot , is the coco able to wick the nutrient solution all the way up to the newly planted clone.

I like the idea of a coco / perlite mix

I've followed this thread front to back. Started top feeding 6.5 litre pots last month finally. Before that top feed 6" rockwool cubes. (I never mastered the cubes. Most of the time they'd get too soggy..)

I didn't use straight coco in my 6.5's...but instead am trying TUPUR mix with a layer of rocks on the bottom. I believe it's mostly coco and for sure it's a pretty light/porous mix. I'm sure if I had vegged more I would be able to multi-feed more. TUPUR must hold a bit more moisture so....

...I'm def' considering adding a % of perlite to the tupur next time to pull off the hyper-feeding frenzy

Also I use straight beds of normal size perlite to get my clones going. If I water just right I get kwazy fast growth and a ton of roots. So much growth I have to hand water twice..thrice a day.. I've often thought about a straight perlite grow BUT I feel like the plant needs more to 'hold on to' if you know what I mean. ie more forgiving like coco

AND HGO thanks for this thread and to your doctor> BUSH DOCTOR for making house calls online

And those last pics you put up are inspiring. Props to Dansbud too. Everything I see you do or say makes sense to me on whichever forum you post. plus your pics are sick too.

Hey guys I would appreciate your advice/opinions on how to multi-feed.

I'm in 3 gallon fabric pots that are stuffed full of roots. I'm giving each pot 1 gallon of nutrient water until run-off at lights on each day. By the next morning they seem pretty dry, maybe not fully dry. Plant's look great. So I was wondering how I should add a 2nd or multiple feeds exactly. I don't feel each pot needs 2 gallons of nutrient water daily. Do I divide the 1 gallon of water that I feed once daily into 3-5 smaller feeds? If so, I don't feel I would get run-off with that method. Should I keep feeding 1 full gallon at lights on and then add a 2nd feed of a half gallon 4 hours before lights out?

Are you hand watering? Based on my very limited experience.....once the pots are fully rooted.....the more waterings (feed) the better. I feed 8x during lights on. Fortunately if you are currently watering once a day and using 1 gallon...you wont need an additional gal for each subsequent watering. The pots won't be quite as dry if they don't go 24 hours between waterings.
If I were hand watering.....and feeding 2x daily......I would feed to runoff one hour after lights on and "almost" runoff 4 hours before lights out. 2x daily is probably all I could manage consistently hand watering. However....if you are automated or able to water more frequently.....the plants will love it. When I go to 3x daily I water once an hour after lights on......once an hour before lights out.....and once halfway in between.
Good Luck!:tiphat:

Just to update: That method is working great. Thanks again.

Good to see so many people growing with this tried, and tested method. I just finished a 50/50 coco/perlite grow and it went exceptionally well. Sorry about the down time, I've been on a slight hiatus. Any questions fire away, and thank you everyone for all the nice comments, I love all of my ICMag family!

Are you still rocking a venturi? My 1000gph pump doesn't have a venturi attachment, so I haven't been using one or an airstone in my res. I'd love to know if you have a DYI solution or off the shelf inline venturi I can purchase. Thanks!

Hi HGO,

Would the 50/50 coco perlite be your preferred way now? I have been coming back to this journal for the last couple years always wanting to try this method of growing but was getting good results from flood & drain but now I'm 4weeks into my coco dtw grow I'm so glad I tried it I don't think il look back,

Everything you said is 100% correct from the thick stem growth plus once I started the multi feeds the growth rate was amazing im now on 5x 2min feeds per day I raised ec to 1.4 but quickly learnt that was not needed now on 1.3 and the return is 1.3 and girls look super healthy :tiphat:

Questions I have are.

How much would your girls drink per day for 6plants as this how many I have going?

With runoff do you aim for 20% per day or feed?

I was doing it per feed but was going through so much water so now I aim for 20% overall.

Thanks for this great journal :tiphat:
