90s (Super) Skunk

I had just 1 seed as freebee from the Tude, I think this cross is pretty old and they had some packs in stock so decided to use them as freebee, they do this to empty their stock of seeds who don't sell very well. But I got lucky and have found an interesting plant with this freebee, honestly I'd buy a pack if I can find some plants like this. I have never bought a pack from Sagarmatha but I know they've worked with Blueberry a lot.
Right on very cool to find a plant like that in a freebie. I've never bought from Sagarmatha either but after seeing your plant I am tempted. I remember seeing their name way back in the day and it's good to see they are still around.

Some dry pics of the Chunky Skunk flowers, not as good looking as the professional ones ;) but it gives an idea what they look like. The smell in the jars is berry(like blackcurrant) , earthy and a touch of lavender, floral scent, I love their smell. In joint the taste is mainly earthy with nuances of the different smells mixed.
1st pic is a bud taken at day 65 and 2nd one was taken day 72, the result is better on the buds taken later. View attachment 19107577 View attachment 19107578
Those are some nice photos, looks like some primo herb! Just by the look alone I like the 72 day finish on that, but the 65 day one reminds me of a lot of the flower we used to get back in the 90s.

I got lucky and the photographer reached out to me and we made a trade for the professional photos. Otherwise it just hasn't been on my radar. It just became legal here a couple of years ago so I'm still stuck in my old stealth ways.

That description sounds tasty and like old school flower. My socials are filled with people who prefer the new hype strains and while they look pretty, they just don't hit like the classics to me. I much prefer the older genetics and glad there's such a huge appreciation for them here. Great job all around.

Have the next class of skunks flowering now. 5 skunk phenos, Sour Diesel & a couple others in aeroponics.

Skunk 1 (RKS). 25 year old seeds. Indica dominant, wide leaf, fast flowering skunk from the east coast. Smells rank like skunk with a metal/rubber cement/burnt rubber type smell. Leaves as big as 5 gal bucket lids.

Glad to share this with everybody. I'm another person who misses that old skunk. After seeing all the posts all over the web about it, some going back to the mid 2000s, I had no clue it was so highly sought after.

I figured I was misremembering the leaves, and the smell could be contributed to all weed smelling like skunk anyways. I remember seeing the plants growing when I was a teenager, and I smoked a lot of it. But that was 30 years ago, so my memory could be slightly off. I was ready to be wrong. After all the reading, I know that I'm not the only one who remembers it the way I do.

Here's my best conclusion. There was never a strain called roadkill skunk. People just use that name to tell it apart from the sweet skunks, or try to sell seeds or clones, or at worst as scam bait. But if you've ever smelled a skunk (my dog just got sprayed by one), that smell is unmistakable. Same as that old school ganja we all remember.

To my knowledge and experience, I'm guessing there are 3 different versions worthy of the name roadkill skunk. They might be related, might be different phenos, or might be completely separate lineage.

1. The first roadkill. Late 70s early 80s. Sativa dominant. Long flowering.

2. Northeast / east coast roadkill. Indica dominant. Short flowering. Late 70s-80s, still around in the 90s (possibly the super skunk indica dominant pheno, or the precursor)

3. 90s roadkill - which I believe to be Super Skunk. Sativa dominant.

I believe I have found 2 of the 3 so far. Won't know until I flower them.
keep cloning!

I've been following along! Saw him post those a little while back. Very cool piece of history and hopefully he pulls something great out of there.
