70w hps club

As i was saying inside my house is 78f. In general 85f is max for cannabis though some say 90f. would a 70W HPS increase my temp above this. my cab is 18"x18"x60"(L x W x H) i have a 122cfm inline bilge blower connected to a 4" Dia 6" long home made carbon filter, which will reduce the flow rate (not sure by how much,maybe by half).

I also have some additional questions :

1. what kind of results have you had with you LED lights?
2. can you supply diagrams for others to build them?
3. what is the make & wattage are your Led's?
4. what is the nm/spectrums are you using?

I hope I haven't asked too many questions, I am very interested to find out more about LED growing.

And Finally, I have bought a remote control unit so i can use an electric lock in my cab, the only problem is they didn't supply a wiring diagram (i do have the circuit board diagram pdf). If any one can help with this please let me know.Peace Lamsbread

Love this thread guys. I was wondering if someone can tell me if I should go with 70w or 150w for my 28"H 17"W 18"D. 3.3 square feet. The 150 puts me near the recommended lumens per sq foot but I was wondering if I can get away with 70 in that space.

In general 85f is max for cannabis though some say 90f. would a 70W HPS increase my temp above this. my cab is 18"x18"x60"(L x W x H) i have a 122cfm inline bilge blower connected to a 4" Dia 6" long home made carbon filter, which will reduce the flow rate (not sure by how much,maybe by half).as long as the fan is emptying out the hot air fast enough and the room its vented into has fresh air, then you actually wouldnt go that far above ambient temps. its worth a shot anyway, even 95F even 100F grows give you some bud and are "ok" as long as you have adequate airflow and enough water for the plants

you can also remoteballast a hps at most 20 meters away. removing the ballast from the grow, lowers heat quite alot.

anyways, summer dont last forever. many people simply dont grow in the summer.

but i see no reason not to, if you need bud, might be a skimpier harvest, but bud is bud if ya need it,

hey, i thought there was already a guy named lambsbread? anyway, for your heat questions i grow in a small box (link in sig) with high heat and my weed grows just fine, i also have a lot of airflow bringing in fresh co2 all the time. might be helping. anyway my temps average about 85-95 all the time in the box except winter, even winter it might be hot, its whatever temp my room is and my room is usually always hot.

i don't know why everyone think theres skimpier harvests with high heat over 75f. where do you guys live where it never gets over 75? weed grows at the equator all day long and last i checked all those places on the equator are hot as fuck. 90f everyday.

this one was so top heavy the branch eventually came over sideways.

thats slightly larger than my box and i have a 70w, i also have a 50 thats out of commission, i think you should go with the 150, heat shouldnt be too much more, plus you get better penetration shouldnt have to worry about pruning as much.

yep all bagseed all day everyday, unless someone gifts me something. i like surprises, knowing whats gonna come out is cool too and in a way a surprise if i've never had the weed before. but bagseed is much cheaper lol.

I got two 70w'ers in my box right now. Does it matter that they are MH? Also they have ignitors so can I get some cmh bulbs for them?

it sorta matters depending on the plant and your prefs i guess. blue lights like mH are the spectrum of the sun in the summer when plants are in veg mode, and hps lights are red like the sun in the fall when plants are in flower. so mH lights produce more leafy buds versus hps, but hps cant produce plants as big as mH bulbs but the buds get tighter. lots of looser buds or a few bigger buds. i dunno if anyones done a comparison on yield, prolly stays the same all things considered. i dunno about the cmh, i was gonna get one myself a 70w. i think the ballasts i need need a cap and ignitor to fire the cmh. im pretty sure it needs to be pulse start. try googling pulse start cmh.

Need advice.

I have a small ngb box im building using this case with INTERIOR dimensions of 19 deep x 29 wide x 28 tall.

My question is how to eliminate total smell and total sound coming from the box.

Improbable and not Impossible.

is that made of metal? someone did one of those before, i can't remember who. i suggest searching for NGB and steel together. might have been back on OG though. still worth a shot. if you cant find it here try google, lots of us got scattered to various sites. im sure you will find the guy or someone else who followed his footsteps.

Thanks stihgnobevoli it's actually particle board with a lamenet on it.

I've looked at many ngb style growscand DIY builds, never however, have I seen a grower discuss the silence and elimination or odor as strictly as my requirements

im pretty sure they have and you just didn't look good enough. in just about any thread on circulation you will find people discussing noise. i doubt your cab is so special that foam insulation and rubber grommets ,etc wont help with the sound.

im 100% certain i've seen someone make a cab with that exact same tool shed.

Hey bud,

We need more info then just the cab, light what lights(how many,position, type, remote or not), type of grow, type of fans being used(computer/etc, how many, filter?, vents?). This all matters. Before you worry to much about stealth you need to make sure that what you have is going to work for you.

Also I know that cab is cool looking but walmart sells the same type of cab with same dimensions for $29. So if you haven't bought that I'd look elsewhere first. Even if it is going in the Garage. They sell a all white and all black one.

Lights - 1 x 70w HPS horizontal along the top middle of the cap.

As you might remember i am using a 70w hps. Havent decided if it was worth my time to make a remote balast. It stays cool enough "i think" without putting in the labor of love in moding it.

Grow Type - Will probably be training and did plan to scrog, however since i dont have fem seeds and no place to keep clones yet, i will just be doing sog.

Fans - My hope is to have 1 small, powerful, quiet fan pulling air out with passive intakes from veg -> flower -> utility rooms. Currently i have 1 10inch OdorSok that came with a kit i bought. I personally dont trust is as much as a carbon filter, though i have never used either.

I am looking to get a small quantity, enough for me and my better half, to perpetually harvest around 1 oz per month, every month.

If you have a link to the cab @ walmart, please share!

i use something like this, but its only about 1 foot deep
but you can find similar larger cabinets by just taking a trip to your local walmart home dePOT or lowes or menards, etc if you have one. or go to closetmaid.com
