70w hps club

Check out my grow thread and try to find ScrubNinjas little explanation on his filter.

Its all about surface area! The small 'pencil cup' filters for pc fans are inefficient and can lead to a rise in temps inside of your cab.

I love how people are using the 70w! Its going great guys and cant wait to see some harvests coming to the table!

a little update for myself: I got my carbon filter built(gonna start a thread on its design) just need to wire up one more fan, fully lightproof my door and than its off to the flowering world for me!!!!

I'm SSSSOOOOOOOO EXCITED@@!@@#u@!!!!! This is my third attempt at a grow box but I've never been able to flower any ladies before. So this will be a learning experience for me.

I've made my own pencil-cup kind of filter. It turned out perfectly, but I'm afraid I would need a more powerful fan for it to work. It's a bit too heavy-duty for my needs at the moment. The fan I'm using is a Noctua NF-P12. It's almost completely silent, but doesn't handle pressure well enough to handle a good filter. I may have to upgrade that and do some research on quiet but powerful fans.

I've also made my own square-style filter. I've seen a few similar designs on here, and I've heard reports that they don't work very well. It's basically a square of wood with some fine mesh on each side, and the area inside the netting and wooden frame is filled with carbon granules.

I've read quite a few posts by ScrubNinja and he's definitely the man to help me out with a filter. I'll check out his filter design now. Thanks guys.

Mala Tempora, check out Scythes Ultra Kaze 3000rpm fan. google it.

That's slightly louder than what I was looking for, but with a CFM like that I think I could tolerate it.

Does anybody have this fan running with a filter? How does it perform?

My 70w HPS arrived today too, so I can proudly announce that I am an official member of the 70w HPS club!

Next summer i can start bigger project's, so i tought to use it in veg room.

Yes, drainage holes are ok but if plant's are over watered, it's my bad.

The "freak" has look'd like that from start.

I was thinking it can be stress 'cause of supercrop. Don't know.

if you make the 50 hps club they will come

That makes us with 100w lamps feel mighty left out.

Too bad they wouldn't let you rename the thread. I think we would get more activity in here if the title was not watt specific.

agreed. I'm gonna go and ask a mod if I can change the name again. It just such a small percentage of growers roll with a 'micro' HID system and I think one Micro HID thread would be great!

I'm looking into the name change possibility.

Micro is a hotly debated term. Some say anything under 1K, I say micro has to fit in one hand. There's a pretty wide swath between the two.

We have: 250 Watt Club The 400 Watt Club 600 Watt Club 1000 Watt Club

Looks like I was wrong on a 150 club, I can't find one. My point is, feel it helpful for some criteria that aids noobs to find others approximating what they're trying to do and wattage seems like a good criteria.

Debate this among yourselves. Maybe "150 and smaller club" or maintain this at 70 and start a 150 club. I'm happy to change the title if it's possible but, let's try our best to get the right title.

D'oh! I thought there was one out there. How'd I miss that?

This thread belongs to you guys but, I really would prefer to see "micro" left out of the title as many feel a micro grow uses a 1K lamp and that's NOT what you guys are talking about.

Anyway, holidays and all that, it may be a while before I get an answer as to if it's even possible to change the name.

OK, It seems I can change the title (they hide the button pretty well) I still need to be convinced that I should. The title has already been changed once.

We're already in the Micro section and "Micro" becomes meaningless in a title when there are folks that think a 1K counts. An "Any and Every Lamp Under The Sun Thread" does no service to anyone. 70 watts means something.

This isn't a flat refusal to change the name but, anything "micro" is out. How's about "Sub-150 watt club"?
