Just got my soil test back and I think I understand most of it but my ph. was 7.5.... High like yours. Did you ever get a 2nd test or figure out what to do about it?

we added peat moss to lower our ph. we will test again in the next 2 weeks. we are hoping for 6.8ph in the end but we will see

Im looking forward to the show

Thats an amazing setup ,The babies are lookin happy

Ive got a question or two maybe you can shed some light

I was considering trying raised beds just making a frame an letting them grow into the ground. Now ive come to learn this area is known for ground hogs (its not my area lol) .
I was consider using plywood under the frame to create a large box /raised bed an block the possiblity of ground hogs eating roots or the plant

Im honestly not sure if a rasied bed has a bottom or just the frame .

Soo im curious what is the proper wood to use ? Id think mold from wet wood could be a problem an what you think of the idea ?

Forgive my lack of knowledge ,I admire your setup an would appreciate any advice

You can put wire on the bottom of the beds to keep the gophers from coming into the bed.

Probably want to dig the area out a little (4"-1') (depends on what you are dealing with), line it with the wire fence, put wood frame over and then fill with great soil.

You don't want to use treated wood as it will leach into your soil/plants. A 1" thick board @ 8" wide will last 3-5 years outside. a 2" will last significantly longer. Or You can just frame the bed with posts anchored into the ground (4x4"s or 2x4"s) and then use landscape fabric to create the walls. Lots of options out there depends on your area, desired length of use/esthetics and budget.

Or just get some fabric pots/beds.

or check out SG1's Spinners for his outdoor grow (https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=286120)

You want a good root space of about 24"s and more width than depth for cannabis.

I agree with everything hatchbrew said. We put wire mesh on the bottom to prevent gophers and we built our beds using untreated doug fir. if money is no issue i would have preferred using redwood.

Just read through and am pulling up a seat for this one. Beautiful place you have and a seriously impressive setup. The stuff dreams are made of. Best of luck.
