Can I get some Clarity here?? I'm not trying to Bust on you OH but I'm confused. If you didn't smoke all (not every little bit in the sample but some of each strain) the samples how could you be a Good Judge of what the best weeds or hash was?

I think you may have misunderstood me. Someone made the suggestion to have a group smokeout to judge the weed and hash.

Really good point CBF. Has this actually happened? When you have a bunch of Weed and Hash to sample in a Blind situation an Entrant smoking out a judge Before the Comp starts should be Verbotten. Judges should be held in seclusion until the sampling is done or be watched by everyone present (like a fish bowl... yeah... I'm serious) to be sure no influence can reach them. Do they let a Jury roam the streets while a Trial is ON? No. They are sequestered for a reason. I figured this would be the case for the IC Cup.

My point is...that would be impossible with all the samples available. I had almost three days to smoke my judges package. Three days and I would have liked one more for my lungs sake.

Anyways....I thought I judged well Most of the weed was sub-par while a few stuck out. OH

judging wasnt the easiest of tasks ,,,i'd planned to share my pack with 3-4 friends but then dg gave them all a judges pack too ,,this meant 5 packs to get through beetween us in under 72 hours ,,,,,at one stage on our table i had a spliff in each hand and there was at least 8-10 half spliffs in the ash tray plus probably the same amount going beetween us ,,,anyone worried bout not having nough weed or getting stoned need not worry at all

Thanks for clearing that up OH. I didn't grasp what you were saying. Yeah I get silly sometimes. Like I said No Bust on you just an Honest Misunderstanding. I still like the Lock Em in a Room Until They Crawl out with the Winners idea. I guess that will have to wait until I set up "The Weedman Cup".

it's possible to test a dozen or more samples per day..but only for looks and taste...

and it would be very difficult to smoke test more than 4 or 5 strains for high and potency each day (except you of course).. although extreme potency always rises to the top, no-one can seriously be expected to offer accurate judgement on a sample entrant after the first half dozen samples, you would blurred and so would your judgement.....

also with testing one strain after another hour after hour the highs would blend into each other....a bud with a slow creeper high or one that hits you in waves would seem to add to the following sample...there's no way to accurately appreciate the duration of the high

the best way would be to reduce the number of judges sample packets down to 15 samples over 3 days for catagory....I think this would be fairer, each judge would not get to smoke all the entries in that section but would be able to offer a better/fairer judgement.

I'd also like to see potency worth 40% of the score, quality of the high another 40% and taste and looks the remaining 20%...I think too much emphasis of the score is given to secondary attributes..the high is where it's at..I dont smoke bud cos it looks good or tastes nice..I smoke it cos it gets me buzzed

ideally though, wouldn't it be good if Gypsy could mail the samples to judges a few weeks prior to the Cup so they could have plenty of time to make careful judgements and comparisons? and pigs might fly

anyway, by hook or by crook, I'm going to the Cup...but I'm undecided whether to judge the sativas (which I grow/smoke all year round anyway..so would appreciate the variances) or the hash (that I don't get enough of and would love to sample hashes made with care and pride)

Yes BOG, I know....I wanted to get a grip on the number of entries for the Growers' category, as that's where there'll be more fluctuation in numbers IMO. Thank you for the good intentions :smile:

3leg, exactly as Smokey said, you can post away your pics, write whatever you want about your intended strain...as long as you don't mention what she's destined for. That's all that's requested, in order to ensure the entries remain secret until the Judges can sample them.

I'm sorry I won't be there myself....believe me! I do hope everyone has a wonderful time, and I'm sorry I'll be missing out on meeting so many fine people, but its just too difficult for me to make things fit into place so I can attend. :
