I would add that in the event one does not get through all of the entries, what scores that person has at the time should be judged accordingly. I was unable to get through all of mine and let someone else finish the judging, or what I had would not have counted. That needs a fix for sure.

I will not be attending this year as a bunch of friends have decided to spend 420 in Hawaii. Much fun to all whom attend.

Who knows ya may even be judging this.

A fix has already been made Elk....there are separate judge categories for next year, so there will be more judge positions open. Folks can choose to only judge sativas, or indicas, or just hash, or a combination...but judges will no longer be getting all samples of all categories automatically.

What worries me most, is how do we get our entries to you? As Bog pointed out that appearence, is one of the high criteria.
So I would not want to squish and squash my 30 grams into the size of a matchbox whereby making it as small as possible.
I missed all the posts on how to send the entries.

Also have you decided how much quantity each entry needs to be. I have put aside 2 strains of 35 grams each. But I would hate to smoke up the remainders. only to hear that you want 40 grams, and I am short of 5 grams. But could have had the require amount but smoked it.

Last year I had the brilliant idea of smoking all the hash entries on the 17th, a joint of all the indica entires on the 18th, and a joint of all the sativa entries on the 19th. LOL.
Splitting up the catagories is a brilliant and necessary thing to do...too much weed in a short time makes for muddled judgement...IMO.
After entry #3 in the Indica catagory, I was done....my ears were ringing and I was totally stoned. I searched high and low for a White Castle or a Taco Bell......but settled for Dutch Pastries.......

ok not trying to sound like a tough guy or anything, but if the size of the sample is that of what baccas posted, and theres only as many as in his last pic, i could easily bang that out in a day or two... dunno about you guys but when i have it, i smoke anywhere from an eighth to a quarter ounce per 48 hour period

how much does each sample weigh and how many samples (estimated) will each entrant have the responsibility of smoking?

I may or may not be there, most likely not, but if you guys are lacking able judges i just may have to make arrangements and put business over personal drama

be well and please , someone, respond with the amounts, it sounds plausable that you could smoke 30 1 gram joints in 24hrs.. i know i could, i'd just not smoke ciggies that day, which i smoke 40+ of per 24hrs yuck.

the other thing i was thinking......

if i was judging, and happened across something i REALLY didnt like, something that just tasted wretched, burnt horribly, or made my throat go on fire, in other words, if it was grown like shit, i'd likely pass the remainder of the sample off to a friend to smoke or something and move on. Wouldn't waste my time with it if i knew the rating i was giving right off the bat.

Goodness though I am still impressed- 2 packs of smokes a day is a lot- I know because I got to 1.5 packs (30 a day) and realized I had to quit.
Well I am impressed over the amount - not the actual smoking- just the amount that anyone can do that.
I quit almost 20 years ago and I still crave.

30 g's would be about the most i guess dunno i never tried, i know i have smoked 12 1-2 gram dutchmaster blunts in a day with a buddy of mine, also countless bowl and bing hits that day but we never kept track. This is the most i've ever smoked in one day. i think.

The samples weren't huge at about a gram each but you got over 44 I think.

Now remember that these entered buds are above the run of the mill buds and sometimes you took one toke of something that just wasted you, expecially some hashes and one sativa and some indicas.

Now about the packaging I have some ideas and so do others for stealth without crushing. You never know what will happen in shipment and hopefully it will sail right through but year before last my sour bubble clone buds were in shipment for 6 weeks and had to be redirected. I vac sealed them and they were so compact people didnt know if it was weed or hash.

Last year I should have done a little more trimming for looks as I never got a chance to do it later and it got a little pressed again despite my efforts to not suck out all the air when vac sealed. Since then a great idea someone had sunk in.

Take a lightweight baggie and seal it with some air in it with the buds and then vac seal it. The inner bag will hold the air and the vac seal will still vac seal it without anything easy to see like a tupperwear container. That might look a bit more suspicious but up to a kilo doesnt get searched going into amsterdam anyways and even stinky packages were delivered last year ok.

One warning. Watch the dryer sheets. Great entries were ruined by dryer sheets in the package to cover smell. It penetrated the inner package causing this entrants fine looking buds to be totally dryer sheet in smell. Sad but true so just use some ground up rolaids or tums in the package if you worry about smell. BOG

Use the mail, not ups or fed ex as they wont deliver to a po box and this is what held up my first entry. If you do use ups or fed ex it has to go to the shop but check with DG about where to mail first.

Great tips BOG sure appreciate you taking the time to go into detail..& sharing the stuff not to do also. I have been a little worried having to mail things & hopefully will have no problems when the time comes. Also i've planned to have a 2nd package ready just incase no confirm on my 1st. Yes mabey a lil overboard, but this is something i have wanted to do for so long i feel the need to cover all bases. Lastly what about glass jars since thats the way i store everything ? A sm. box w/3-4 glass jars is not acceptable ? If anyone has time i appreciate any/all tips advice...also if this info is already posted in a thread just point...no not ..lol. Thanks ia...yf3

Hey Captin J those joints in that pic where for a one afternoon trip to Haarlem I believe there were at least 44 samples to try. I got started late only had two wich meant i was puffing on at least 22 joints a day. It was a task that hard to complete and still keep your witts about you. There is a difference between smoking to "catch a buzz" and smoking to determine the best properties of each sample.

I smoke about an 1/8th a day & my thoughts are that i personally couldn't judge more than 1 catagory in a few day period. I really like the sound of the way it will be broken down this year. 5 mos. till showtime

Talk over your methods as they are many and we wouldnt want to say one good way to go but another great idea is to use a large tube type mailer or several because if plastic seal wrap is used and you have some extra wrap around it all the scanner gets nothing but a blur. Printed color on the outside but inside the tube will often confuse scanners as well. Remember that hash is very dense and can more easily be seen if not obscured. I would mail the cheap way actually so that it stays on the ground until at a huge mail airport where scanning is impossible. In small towns with small local airports locals checking outgoing packages dont have enough to do if you get me.

Use a phony return addy and never show any identification and pay cash for the postage. BOG

What are dryer sheets Bog?

well, i'm not BOG, but dryer sheets are also known as fabric softner, i use bounce theyre those fabric sheets you add to your clothing when you put it in the electric dryer after washing them.

they usually have a fresh floral scent that sticks and doesn't ware off in open air for weeks or months if left out nevermind in a box...

i would avoid all this by vaccume packing and then, as bog states, into a solid crushproof container such as a rubbermaid or tupperware.. after that is using your imagination

A word on vacuuming packing....best to put the buds into a container of some sort
and then vacuum seal the entire container. I have seen absolutely awesome buds ruined
(in appearance) due to vacuum sealing the buds in the plastic bag. The judges
also grade on appearance, so some thought into packing your entry is necessary.

Yup and the inner bag idea will work even without any tupperware. I dont like shipping in what appears obvious to a scanner to be an airtight container but I am a paranoid. I am one of the people DG is talking about ok?

That's why I'm trying to help others avoid our mistakes and to realize how important all catagories are in the judging. Make sure your buds will be properly cured when they arrive and dry enough to withstand air tight packing for certain. We had no moldy buds and that would ruin an entry too. Probably you should be listening to everyones advice and then decide for yourself because its your shit, your game and your gamble. The main thing is to have fun and stay safe which you can do.
