hey guys i have a 400 w mh/hps closet setup with 3 vertical cfl grow lights surrounding the closet. I orignally planned on starting the seedlings just on the cfls but the mh was setup and got turned on as well. I didnt want to interupt it but what should I do now?? Should I keep on just the MH or should I use the cfls?? please help thanks!!

Why not? even i veg under the MH400. If u leave the MH on & the cfls too, u should be able to get some nice plants remember.. more wattage, more growth...

I have no cool tube either, but I did cut a hole in my light case and installed a small pan fan to suck the hot air away from the light area. It brought my canopy temp down at least 10 degrees F. I keep my tops about 8" below the light and I monitor the temp with a inside / outside thermometer, put the outside probe the same height as your tallest top with a stick or something to hold it up there. My temps stay around 80F at the highest growth , (just right) IMHO.

Thanx SG55, they are looking good.

Nice SS gizmo I`ve got 8 of those in the cupboard waiting to be popped along with 11 4way specials courtesy of Tatanka seed bank in the DAM (back next month so more for the collection)

I got a carbon scrubber and promptly blew it up by putting too many volts in it so I had to replace the fan.

Now it works smell is no longer an issue. I also spent a few hours clearing out much junk and tools from the shed to make it ready to be transformed into a 7`by 4` grow room







The shelving was removed in about 10minutes

All the trichromes are now a misty white and I am hoping they will go amber in the next couple of days

I got a enclosed hood with a temp heated glass lense and this allows me too get the plants about 4 inches way from the light, this is only with a mh tho The hps requires a little more distance i'd say anywhere betwee 6" to 8", This is all without an exhaust fan..hope this helps

That all depends on your method of growing, If you use the SOG method you can have 20 or so plants under 1 400, A member that goes by the name Killakron did a huge sog with a 400 somwhere in the 20 or even 30s im not sure. Then on the other hand you can run 1 or 2 plants and then LST'em(LowStressTrainning)to maximize yield out of each plant. Yes Digital Ballasts are the way to go!
I got me a Lumetek--the new purple ones w/better RF sheilding.
It dosen't got hot! the ballast itself just gets kinda warm. warm enough to touch and pick it up if you have to move it.
My old MH Ballast got way ****in' hot, to hot to touch.
And you can run both MH and HPS bulbs!

usually you can flower upto 4 mature plants under a 400w.
But i've seen people flower more.
But the unofficial reccomendation is 4 plants

Yeah 4 sounds like a nice comfortable number for a 400, im running 2 super skunks that have been LST'd and lolipoped. im going to try 4 plants the next round..I think im going to throw them in a 35 gall rubbermaid and just let them go crazy lol.
