well i thought i would finally post up and let you all know how my harvest went. well off of 5 plants under a 400watthps i pulled a little more than 9ozs. i got 1.5 from my bagseed and super-g and i got 7.5+oz from my 3 cascadias.

heres a look at 4.5oz of it.

heres a monster nug....25.4grams

heres my next round (from left to right) 2-C-4s 1-GrapeHaze 1-SnowCap

these came from a santabarbara medical dispensery. i am very excited to get these ladies going...they are some of my first club genetics. so over all i was very happy with what i yielded....not to mention very suprised. i believe my gram/watt was 0.65g/watt.. not to shabby.

9 oz is pretty good for a 400w i think! looks really tasty too! I am always kinder envyous when people get the club clones, but i ges i should be glad i can walk into a shop and buy seeds.
Heres a close up of one of my Mod bx plants, shes at 4 weeks only 6 to go hehe.

Day 10 of my first Scrog Attempt

Day 10 of my first Scrog Attempt

Here's the pics guys...how is it lookin? Should I thin out some of the fan leaves? It's LUI by the way for those that aren't keepin an eye on me. Thanks to those that are!!! Should I try to fill in the screen a bit more? I have alot of bud sites as it is and don't want to over-crowd. Should I even thin out some of the bud sites? I see lots of branches that could stand to be cut out of the way.

Help this rookie out as I'm only experienced in sog and this seems very cluttered to me.

I just switched to 12/12 this morning and I expect only a little bit of stretch but if y'all think I should give them a few more days pipe up and holla at me.

edit...actually ...I pulled the pins on the timer before it switched to 12/12 ... still on 24/7 ....and double checking my calendar this is day 14....ha...stoners memory..... Thanks HeadyPete

Peace

Hey brotha, nice looking SCROG. Not that I am the SCROG expert but IMHO I would leave em grow until they are well above the screen before deciding what to cut. Every branch through is a potential cola so you will get a better idea of how it is filling in a little down the road. The idea is to fill every square inch of the screen while still allowing each bud room to grow. You can always chop later....but remember chopping is trauma that will slow growth until the plant recovers so chop sparingly.

It is looking very thick and nice! Awesome job!! Yum yum!

Isnt scrog suposed to just help with LST? I mean dont you just try to use the screen to flaten out the stem and let the side shoots go for the light? Looks good in any case! I wouldent trim it at all till the colas start heading up and blocking out the lower stuff a lot.

I personally don't start training to the screen until after I turn her over to 12/12, but I get uber stretch in hydro. You will want to fill out the far corners. In general you are looking for no more than 8-10 bud sites growing up from the screen per square foot. More will yield more smaller buds. I kinda prefer to wittle it down to 6 or so per square foot - per plant at one plant per square foot. One thing to keep in mind with scrog is that you do want to save some stretch for the end - it's kinda like you have to train and train and then when there is still a bit more stretch you stop training and let it grow up through the screen so you have a bunch of 6 inch or so shoots that each turn into 8 inch colas - like the ones I posted above.

Once I fill up the screen and have selected my branches that will be allowed to grow up through the screen and have them situated I follow the big fat j rule of scrog trimming which is "if it's shading a bud site, it must go", this means all thos fan leaves that one mini cola is shooting out that are shading another bud site must come off to bring light to the lower bud sites.

branches that have not reached the screen by the time flower is in full effect (3 weeks) should be removed and can be can be used for clones. Leaves that are not shading a bud site are allowed to stay.

Also keep in mind the location of your lamp and any sweet spots - these will need to be kept shorter or else buds will light/heat burn. Training your screen such that you achieve a stadium or half-pipe effect centered around your bulb I have found to be the most productive method. This way you have the buds furthest from the lamp on the tallest branches so they still get good light and the buds directly under the bulb on the shortest branches so that they don't get burnt.

hope that helps.

Suga...new I could count on ya man...thanks whole big bunches!!!! 8-10 per square foot and a preferred 6 or so is exactly what I was looking to hear. K .... so I'm on the right track and most likely have about 4- 5 more days to go at the rate they have been growing. So I'm on the right track for nutes then too....perfect...thanks guys.

I'll have some better pics for ya soon...just chargin the batteries

Thanks again for keepin an eye on me guys .... I started my day with a question and by dinner time I have had lots of feedback including PM's ... this site rocks and so do "Most" of the people on it. Peace

ok Guys .... This is how they look this morning...

PH is mostly neutral ... I find that some parts of the box are higher and lower than others while moisture levels are the same through the box...kinda makes me go hmmmm ... and here I'm trying a one box grow so as to keep all the medium the same.... hmmmm...this is a new question to me now

Growth is great under this 430w HPS Hortilux Eye...better than the old 400MH I used to have. ..so hmmm...guess all the hype I read about was correct...now...do I believe the guy at the store when he says he hasn't changed his bulb in 5 years and he still gets the same production?...I dunno ... I figure if I don't have to change it every harvest I'm better than my old 400w kits.

Few more days to go and they should have the screen full.

Here's underneath... Left side...then right ...or the other way around but you get the idea...

And here's my Mom's

These are the 2 I decided to keep from seed now that I've had a chance to grow some clones out and test the smoke ... these 2 didn't stretch an inch from the day they went into flower and the smoke from them is almost exactly what I'm looking for. By the way..the 2 under the screen are the moms that stretched during the last flower and the smoke is a bit harsher ... so they seemed perfect to try as my first scrog while I'm getting my next clones going and vegged ready for flower..bla bla bla...I'm such a stoner

here's Mom 1 and 2

Peace all let me know what you think....when it comes to seeing difficencies early I suck .... keep in mind my experience is from the "set-it and forget-it till harvest" outdoor grow type of guy, and a handful of closet grows under a 400 sog style in 4 inch pots of earth ...

Cheers

Nice work bonsaigrower! What's the distance from the top of the SCROG to the light? I've working with this chart for optimum distance... the tips directly under the bulb in my NGB do get a bit bleached as they are only sometimes two to three inches from the bulb.

This chart can really help! As long as temps are kept under control, you can get a 400W six inches from the tops of the buds!

Sugabear: A stadium shaped screen will definitely optimize the whole thing. Seen any pics of a good one?

I'm working on a new V-Scrog or halfpipe screen, but its tricky to get it into a Micro-grow space and keep enough distance from the bulb and maintain enough space under the screen for trimming, etc.

Merman Thanks man .. Right now the light is about 10 inches away ...I'm lowering it by an inch a day as the screen fills in and then I'll have it about 7 inches for remainder of flower.

I had 6 plants, one was a TW from seed, it was male and got hashed.

Bonsai - I tend to wait about 1-2 weeks into flowering a scrog and cut any branch thinner then x (x being a completely different # based on mine and your tastes.

(the theory is like this.. branches thinner than X cant flow enough water/nutes. Nuke them (or clone em) and let the larger branches maximize buds. ;)
