Great thread Jack,
I'm giving the Aptus line a try on my next run. I would love to see a softball sized wifi nug in person. Will be running a large diy UC system 6 plants 14.5kw. I know you dont run the UC anymore, but do you have any sugestions for Aptus in the UC?
I was thinking 1/2 to 3/4 strength on the first run to get a feel for the line.

Thanks

I wouldn't run the basic stuff in uc mate it shits up the res pretty quick

you may be able to add 2 days before a res change then use system clean

the soluble stuff in the premium collection should be ok it's fully water soluble

love your getto grow btw

peace

Thanks, But im not sure I understand. What causes the res to to go bad? I run ewc tea and wont be using the enzymes. just the boosters and the fasilitor.. Do the airstones cause problems?
I don't see the and basic or premium collection.

I would not run Aptus in Deep water culture.. Drain to waist is where it performs best. And good luck having it stop stretch all together beacuse it wont it will help a little but not like the bad stuff..JACK

Hmm, just found this post. maybe I missed it somewhere. What causes problems in dwc?

In the aptus growing guide, they say not to leave the startboost or the bloom boost in the res longer than 3 days because it causes a biofilm to form, maybe ill rethink my strategy.

Maybe just the fasilitor... IDK

Just talked to the Aptus rep, Says to ad their products last 3 days before a res change for dwc, seems like a pita,, and risky.
Maybe ill leave the aptus to the pro's

I'm European so your bottle names are different

maybe try it in veg on a test system or something after 2 days of start boost in my res it started smelling funny and I got a film

ifyou go to holland site you will see that there divided into two groups the premium collection are fully water soluble and are fine with hydro you can use n boost instead of start boost

much props as always..

Do you ever change out your hoods? sorry if I missed it somewhere. I never have but I noticed a couple people saying they have. been using same ones for 2 years and no real noticeble differance for me. thanks for any comments
I don't change my hoods hard enough making it in this flooded with shitty weed market every one and there brother is growing White Fire people pop a few seeds and get a White pheno and think they have the holy grail then sell it to the clubs. I have seen so much shitty grown cheap meds these days thats just crap! And to top it off selling it for dirt cheap this is exacatly why I keep my shit on lock.. Changing hoods is a waist of time and money ..JACK

I would go with CCH20 nutes if I was running current culter buckets..
hello jack its getting more and more interesting over here i have question regarding the new rock wool room..
when u top feed rock wool u getting algae on the top layer !

* how u goona run it without algae ? r u gonna cover the whole bed with reflective material to avoid light penetration to the medium ?

* r u gonna do eeb and flow or sprinklers ?

thanks.
Alge never hurt anything and in a few days the canopy will protect it im doing 2 gallon pots with rock wool crutons feed drain to waist one row sterile one with Aptus using Heavy 16 as base.

Re: 3 weeks in with Aptus shits blowing up around here..

Jack quick run down without taking to much of your time. Im taking everything you have suggested and changing it a bit to work with my set up.

I just did a quick eye ball but I think Im looking at 24 per table with 5 gallon fabric pots. My plan is to have three 600 over each table. Im going to start here and see how it goes and make adjustments. If I have to Ill get smaller pots and squeeze in more plants. Per ur suggestion.

I have always done perpetual
I will have 12 systems and take plants weekly.

So Im going to continue to do it this way. With using fabric pots I can move my plants around the same way I do now.

And I know by packing them in tight they will root all through each other through the fabric and have close to the same resaults as your tables do Jack.

Ill just dump the pots out rip out the roots and repack the pots and replant and off for the next round.

Hoping it all works and stay on my current schedule.
:fingerscrossed:

Allot of work rebuilding and transitioning over while keeping my schedule. But I know it will worth it by the looks of your results.

And why I have ur attention.

I love hydro. But the with my whole perpetual set up it is a pain. But with the chow mix I get the best of both worlds. So that being said.

Thank you Jack for the inspiration and insight. Has inspired me to revamp. After several years. Feels good to try something new ur a good dude for taking all the time out answer all of us. Im not trying to be some gay fan boy but you have proven time and time again you actually give a shit about us who care to listen. And that alone you have earned my respect. The haters fall by the waist side because you PROVEN time and again how to kill it. And In my book proof is in the budding.

Be all u can be Jack! <done>:tiphat:biggrin:joint:joint:

Read many of your posts and gathered much knowledge imo your one of the best and if people are familiar with your work you started with a 7000w setup long ago and now this. Thanks a bunch for sharing.

Not sure how you will feed Aptus guess you will have to mix everything seperate since the plants will be at different times in flower always seemed like a huge pain in the ass to me we have had best results with 3 gallon smart pots unless we where growing huge plants then 5 gallon works good.So I take it your vegging seperate and then throwing in the flower room thats always in flower at different stages. My system works best when the plants are vegged in the flower room always me to train them but if not I would do bigger plants topped and trained then thrown into flower.. JACK

Yes I will have to mix aptus for each and every system and feed them. Yes a huge pain in the ass.

I started I used up the last of the newtz I was using and started aptus on my current systems that still have soil in them starting last week and it wasnt so bad. Once week is actually better then what I was doing.

And on the base only days and the tea days its easy.

Going to do.

Vegetative

Mon. Aptus
Tues. Wends. Thurs. Base Only
Fri. Tea and SeaGreen
Sat. Sun. Base Only

Flower

Mon. Aptus
Tue. Wends. Thurs. Base Only
Fri. Tea and SeaGreen
Sat. Sun. Base Only.

Foliar Feed Vegetative

Wends. Flora Three Part at 350 ppm

Fri. 1/4 strength tea

Foliar Flower

Wends First 3 weeks Canna Boost

Fri. 1/4 strength tea

What do you think?

As far as the 5 gallon pots I have from doing soil. If you think I can get away with less I will only fill them with 3 gallons or so. That's definitely cool makes sense its more like hydro. I used to grow full sized plants in 6's of rockwool.

Yes I will veg. And top them in veg. Then move to flower room and train them through trellis first couple weeks of flower.

I would love to roll around tables and veg. in each system and roll them into flower but I just can't do it. Don't have the room to move them all around. I would have to make a room for each system there isn't any way.

Thank you.

thanks jack means alot buddy, they say imitation is the biggest form of flattery lol. Still do my own genie tricks but you have helped simplify things more than you know. Keep it dank!!

i like them alot but they monopolized by making their fittings only for the corner pieces is the only complaint. thought home depot had them. So make sure and order those if you want to trellis. i am doing something different but yes a trellis will be in place.

One more thing jack kinda different from your thread. i am a hydro guy learning coco and dirt out of neccesity. Learning it is a lit different ball game in the way you feed for sure, liking coco better than dirt so far. anyways i have to transplant and flip the same day and was wondering if you or anyone on here had any advice to this as far as watering schedule the first couple weeks untill i can feed til run off without drowning them. i have been veggin in dixie cups or like .5 gallons for 3 weeks than going to 1 gallon, maybe i could go to as much as 2 gallons than veg another 4 weeks than transplant and flip in same day into 7, 10s or 15's. trying to find the sweet spot for my particular situation. doing 5 a light in 4 x 8 trays. thinking of trying a bed like you but dont know if that would really work for 5 a light and not being able to veg and flip in them. i have an 84 light setup that i dont have the plant count to do any more. suggestions or advice would be great! thanks

If I may. Coco is the way to go. Ive done soil as well and the health and convenance of soil is great. But coco is the best of both worlds. I just switched no lie and Im very impressed with coco.

Trans/Flip same day.
I think u can do this if ur plants are healthy and I suggest to ease the lights in slowly and foliar feed is a must. Just my 2 cents. GL.
