Happy New Year Jack and everyone. Hey Jack quick question. I'm running Heavy with Aptus in a 75/25 hydroton/coco in 20 gl smartpots. I followed Heavy 16 feed chart and ended up giving the girls a bit to much food. When you feed with Aptus do you drop your base a few points? I've noticed when I add all the boosters it raises the ppm 200 to 300 .or .2 to .3 points on the ec at 500 converions scale. So that your total ec including the aptus is at 1.2 or do you got a bit higher when you feed with the aptus? I've lowered my base nutes but still running it a bit higher than you 1.8 to 2.0 800 to 1000 ppm because I figured I'm mostly hydroton. I don't know though that I should. I'll start off the next run with lower feeding and see how it goes. Thanks again for updating this thread and taking the time to do so it's much appreciated.

Thanks Vag, let me know what you find out.

Well Jack, instead of hitting you with 1000 questions all at once figured I hit you with a few right now:biggrin:

I'm currently doing a SCROG in soil, 5x15 with three 1000W Gavita's above.

If I decide to go and try my hand at coco I'd be looking to get the most from my small 3 light setup. I would be able to fit two of the 4x8 flood tables that you use under my 3 lights as that wall is 16.5 feet long.

I have a separate veg room that has T5 lights. Running the coco beds like you do, is it possible to veg in my veg room and then transplant into the coco beds? I'd like to keep the flower room flowering at all time since I would only be able to run 8-9 plants under each light cause of my license so I would need to veg them bigger witch I could veg them for 7-8 weeks in my veg room. Could I veg 24-27 plants in 3 gallon smart pots for 7 weeks and then transplant them into the coco bed for flower?

Given my situation, if this was you what would you do to try and get the most from this setup? How would you veg and flower? Would you run straight coco? Or Chow Mix? What is Chow Mix?? What brand coco would you use? I'm looking for the cleanest best coco possible. I HATE FUNGUS GNATS!! Prefer to get some coco thats doesn't have any Gnats it already.

I read one post you made stating that you don't flush the coco before you use it, only precharge. Then I read another post you made stating that you flush the coco first and then precharge it. Could you please clarify this up for me?

Thanks for your time bud. I'll try and take it easy on you.... But I am fairly anal and like to have all my facts straight before jumping in with both feet:thank you:

Just a few pics of my setup so you have an idea what I'm working with. First couple pics are of my electrical/controller, then a pic of where my 3 lights are hung and scrog tables and last pic is of my veg room.

so thru veg --->til week 6 in bloom Co2 is maintained @1k-1.2
after 6wks...? no more Co2 then..?

with the hi temps 85-90 and 60%Rh
do you only run these temps/Rh because of the aptus regiment
or would you still keep these temps/Rh using a standard fertz program bumped
up for the increase in plant metabolism.

and 1 mo Q, with the sauna conditions in the room do you have any probs with PM or other
fungi related issues
or are you proactively on this potential prob
with things like eagle20ew or fungalor bombs etc etc

great thread and a wealth of knowledge here!
Like Norcal said these temps are for CO2 But plants do way better with higher Humidity and temps in veg and first 3 weeks flower you have to keep the night humidity in check when lights are out nothing a large de humidafier wont handel we run 1 De Humidifier every 20 k room, We burn sulfer in mom rooms and in veg for 20 minutes a day to prevent mold. we rarely have any issues with Pm.
Those temps are optimal for veggin plants when running co2. Has nothing to really do with what nutes your using.

The thing alot of people don't understand about sealed rooms is that because there is no air being exchanged pests and PM are rarely ever an issue. so long as your not bringing in random cuts with pests on them or visiting grow rooms that are infected you can pretty much say goodbye to alot of problems associated with exchanging air pests and PM included.
One of the biggest problems out there is growers going from grow to grow spreading bugs and diseas, Once you get spider Mites they are there to stay it's just a matter of managing them and keeping them at bay.The number 1 spreader of PM is a shop vac its like fogging your room with PM I stay far away from them...JACK

this is by far the best thread on any canna forum ,cheers jack:tiphat:
Thanks there is alot of good info !!
Just like cruisin at 60 is the best fuel efficiency wise

So is 85deg in co2 environment.

And high rh in general too, but we try to minimize the rot/pm

hello jack i"m very excited just got the large adjusto wings and i have a few questions please.

what is the height between the plants and the adjusto wing thru the whole cycle ??? do u change it during the grow ?

what size do u adjust it to 28 x 36,37,38,39 or 40 ???

i have noticed that the bulb is adjustable too so what is the height that u adjust your bulb from the wing ( the gap between the reflector and the bulb ) ?

thanks in advance.
I run the bulb on the half way point on the bulb adjuster, Adjusto wings height depend on strain some plants can take it some cant but we have good luck running them fairly high around 4 plus feet some strains lower just depends. and width depends on the area we are trying to cover..We always start them as high as possible..
to add to dror's Q above, i have the parabolic 4ft hoods, if you kno, how do they compare to the large batwings your using ?
They do not compare there not bad but Adjusto wings just slam the plants with lights the area in between two adjusto wings is where you will see some insane colas ..
Yo happy new year jack!
Happy New Year Bro..
Happy new year mate. Amazing grow.
Sorry if this has been asked before but is it hard to find a nice pheno from WiFi in seedform ?
Your pheno #3 looks amazing wonder how hard it is to find one like that.
No it is not hard to find a nice pheno of Wifi most will be more White then Fire..

Less is always more its hard not to give them more nutes then they need I am guilty of this too but try a run at 800 ppm total with boosters and you will thank me later the days you dont give Aptus 500 to 700 ppm..

Thanks Vag, let me know what you find out.

I would not run beds if I could not veg in them just stick to smart pots with A Chow mix 60 / 40 works good with Cana or Gold label coco 60% with 40 % Hydroton never give Coco just RO or straight water when pre charging 800 ppm with alot of run off for pre charge keep humidity at 60% plus in veg and first 3 weeks flower for the win!!! And brew Capultor tea / OGBIOWAR.COM To keep fungus knats knocked down..JACK

Awesome, great info Jack. What size smart pot would you recommend then since I need to grow larger plants? 3 gallon? 5 gallon? 20 gallon?

Would you just go straight from rockwool cube/clone straight into final size smart pot that way there isn't any transfering from pot to pot?

Using the individual smart pots, how would you go about re using the coco? Pull plants out, pull as many roots out as possible with 3 pronged fork and top up pot with new coco and then hit with cannazym??

Using this "chow mix" would you feed once a day or twice?

Much respect for running a big clean grow and taking the time to share with everyone. I appreciate that you are teaching people preventative maintenance for bugs, pm, etc. The more people are informed the less crap ends up in the meds.:tiphat:keep inspiring us all.

What brand of dehumidifier do you run?

edit: for not fpr......

Thanks Jack. That's what I have dropped to. I feed with Aptus around 800 then 700, 500. Tea hit again with Aptus. Led Im growing 6' trees in 75/25 hydroton/coco 20gl smartpots filled to about 17 gl. Feeding four times a day lights on about 2.5 gl each a day.

Also Jack, if you were growing a single plant in a 5 gallon smart pot. WHat would you use to water that plant? Would you still use those fan sprayers you use in your coco beds or something else? Would you still feed twice a day?

Thanks :thank you:

By bottom feeding, do you mean flood and drain? I am using 8" mesh bottom pots, pure coco in 4x8 tables. maxes out @ 50 plants per table or 72 if you use 6" pots. It works fabulously. We see yields up to 2.1# per light with a real OG and up to 2.5 per light with OG x Jolly Rancher . Like Jack has mentioned, the best yields come from where two lights overlap- even with ducted xxxls vs. adjust-o-wings (which I am going to try on the next build... I'd try them here, but my 5 tons of mini-split A/C is just barely keeping up with ducted hoods).

I'm excited to see what Aptus adds to this paradigm. Dial ever tighter.

The 2 rooms that we used Cana coco as base started out a little slow but ended up on par with the best of them I really like how clean it is and its easy to flush out of the beds adding the sea green really brought out the terpins smell and taste is superb some of the most frosty best tasting meds we have grown to date was with Cana coco A+B as base most of the run 500 ppm after week 4 800 ppm and last 2 weeks 250 ppm and tea only alternate waterings ,Aptus once a week, and sea green once a week, The rest of the waterings just Cana as base nothing else.. Here is a room at week 7 this room is being flushed..There colors are starting to show, This room is FIRE OG, White Fire#3 and MCFLY This will be our last run with the White Fire#3 and MCFLY....JACK
