I can understand that. starting up from scracth would take years without large numbers of plants! ye know about the 5% in humans, but i cant seem to find any info on the ratios in plants, certanly not MJ! well now im off to bed ill lurk back in tommorow to continue!

*edit* have to ask what if you popped a seed from a fresh newly bought bag, and it contained one of these, would it wreck the whole line if you crossed it?

I'm not sure, Probably not. But the odds of finding one in a pack of 10 generally available seeds are 1,000 : 1 against.

Hi Shaun, well I'm an impatient father, can't wait to get some smoke again. It's not looking anywhere near ready though.

Hi Strains, thanks, I can't really get any stem shots yet though, there's just too many leaves in the way. Also that head is surrounded by the buds from the nodes below it, so it would be difficult even after harvest unless I removed the lower buds first and then took another pic. If you really want to see that, then give me a reminder at harvest time and I'll try to sort it out for you.

hi GMT very interesting thread - although i havent read it all yet, so apologies if my thoughts have already been covered.

i wonder if some of the 'quads' that you've shown could actually be twin seedlings that have become fasciated and then one subsequently died off?

im sure you are familiar with fasciation - when two or more stems appear to grow fused together.(although i believe true fasciation is from one growing point)

fascinating journey - i will try and catch up with the whole thread.

one stupid question - do you see an advantage in the trifiliate plants over regular ones or is this a 'because you can' type project>

in the flower pics above, the top two pics of the bud looks kind of fasciated to me too (ive never seen it in cannabis but have seen quite a few different plants do it in my garden.)

and the tri's - am i right in saying that you are having trouble stabilizing it within a line?
would you say that tri is a purely genetic trait or a phenotypic one?

Hi Shaun, that's lousy mate. I've been lucky and never had an order not arrive. If I was you, I'd make that bag last as long as possible, and get another order for something from Mandala or nirvana together, and hope for nice freebies.

Hi Verdant, I must admit I have considered the same, though if that were the case, (quads wise), then the seedlings would (to my guessing) have had 2 tap roots, and they only have 1. Whether the tri's have any advantage over standard plants depends entirely on your growing situation really. And also the particular plant. A heavy tri grown single cola will out perform a heavy bi, but a heavy bi will outperform a not so heavy tri. And once you top a tri, you have 3 growth tips instead fo the 2 from a bi. But if you start multi topping, then any advantage is lost really as you can get as many tops as you like from either. So ultimately, the answer has to be, because I can, or rather to be more precise, because I hoped I could but may not be able to , lol. Yes I am having trouble. When you talk to most breeders, they will say that in order to find a keeper ie. the pheno they bred for, it is best to buy 2 packs and search through them. To my mind that isnt stable. I want every plant to hold the pheno that I am breeding for, and I am no where near that yet, but then it seems most breeders arent either lol. I consider phenotype and genetics to be one and the same thing, with the phenotype being the expression of the genetic code posessed. Of course I could be completely wrong there.

Well just wait untill its harvested and smoked, then pics of the stem should be possible, just wanted to see if it looked like fusing of stems (fasciation i think verdant just called it)

nice one, it actually looked better before the edit, but I had another 1 that worked well with it in 3d, and it was easier to give them both the blue hue rather than trying to get the other back to a more natural colour. no worries on the copyrights, it's not for individuals, just hear so many stories of people getting their pics ripped off from here that I wanted to make em think twice. I've done it small so as not to draw attention to it, but magazines will be looking for it. To be honest it would be hard to make any claims against them, but it would be easy to report them for copyright violations and that would be enough to get them a lot of paperwork at least.

Thats it dont give the big companies any chances of making money off of someones else's hard work
If i published a magazine i would use some of your 3d shots with free glasses, I think it would make a killing
Imagine all the stoners drueling over their magazines, I would try and include a scratch and sniff section lol, think of the money!
