a week ago it was in the 70s daytime. today i went bowhunting the whitetail rut here, 2 inches of snow on the ground, below freezing. most of the trees still have leaves on them. weather has EVERYTHING fucked up. cut down some high-CBD weed that did not get harvested before the storm hit. pretty tasty...

It’s been in the 70’s here still wearing shorts, but we have been having the single digit humidity, and winds. They keep saying they are going to shut the power down, the winds have died down, but it’s still dry. At least it’s easy on the woodpile...Hippy, your feet let you hike? Part of my neuropathy is my feet are numb and it is easy to lose my balance...

3 degrees f. on the porch. 4" of fresh powder, though more expected, and on the way.

Precipitous later Fall. I'm guessing here we've already had over a foot of snow, and my friend in the mountains to my south has had over 2 feet.. 'Arctic desert,' my ass.

On the bright side, historically, we could be MUCH colder right about now, and by the middle to end of next week, we're supposed to be back up to highs in the 20s.

-12 f on the front porch this A.M. at 6:00. Supposed to be highs in the lower +20s by mid-week, last I heard, and up to near +30 f by Friday, but I haven't called NOAA in a day or so.

in the teens of a night last few days. was shirt-sleeve weather last night. trees STILL have leaves, maples normally bare by October. WTF???

Current (today's NOAA/NWS) forecast has us below zero this morning, mid-teens tomorrow, with notice of freezing rain @ below freezing temps (what we've come to call 'frizzle'; a mysterious phenomenon occurring at below freezing temps, -NOT- related to warmer temps aloft at higher altitude; stuff comes down as rain, and freezes on contact with objects; lovely shit). Modern miracles of the wtf variety.

We're also now in our second or third 'winter weather advisory' this last week or so, with another several inches or more of snow on the way. Snowed last night, supposed to snow more tonight and tomorrow.

I recall the years when there was no 'winter weather advisory' attached to 2-5 inches of snow, unless there were additional risk factors, other than 'it's winter.'

Back then it was somewhat common that folks left their vehicles idling outside stores at -20, -30, -50, but not warmer weather. And we had way fewer of them. Now-days the pussies, where ever they're from, inversion-trapped pm2.5 particulates in the air be damned, leave their vehicles idling outside stores at 10 to 20 above f. !!! I guess (unnecessarily) burning hydro-carbons is a competitive sport now? (smfh)

Still calling for +30 on Friday; should make for LOVELY driving; particulate/granular snow, over glazed/polished ice, with warm temps for that added moisture. Screw winter tires. I need to put ice skates on my truck!!

Down here on the Gulf coast the pecans still have their leaves. They're usually the last to get leaves and the first to lose leaves and we've already been colder than we've been in several years. :dunno:

Not that cold 40’s-50’s, yesterday the sky just opened up and started raining, I was out in the shop that has a metal roof, it was so loud that I had to make a run for it. It must if rained 3” in 15 minutes, its been raining since then much needed rain, let’s hope the red flag warning days are over...

2 nights ago it was +37 f. on the front porch. The next morning it was +34 f. with the outcomes of a subtle but noteworthy Chinook breeze from the S/SW. This A.M. the temps were +22 f. or so.

Later Fall roller-coaster that results in compacted, crusted snow on the vehicles and highways. Metaphorical ice-skating on the roads in town. Good time to stay home, cuss at unworthy drivers from afar, and smoke a doobie while barbecuing some boneless pork country-style ribs with home-made Q-sauce.

Going into town in these conditions, to witness the lack of conscious thought processes among those with 3,000 lb. 'bullets' beneath their posteriors, might one day lead me toward acting like someone I don't want to be... I don't have the jing for THAT sort of legal retainer. Best to stay home.

We got the snow on thanksgiving temps dropped to the 30’s, cold fror Cali. The best part is the sun is out today and the snow will be gone by tomorrow, so I got to see the beauty of nature and don’t have to deal with shoveling...

Some of the wind gusts near the foothills are 75 MPH or greater. I think that is like a hurricane. It is not quite that strong here, but I still can't go outside with the wind and blowing snow.

+13 f. on the front porch about an hour ago, toward the tail-3end of this warm front that had us above freezing to varying degrees in different locations on Thanksgiving.

Continued intermittent snow, and calling for -5 f. as a high, and -10+ for a low by later mid-week.

I've been spoiled by climate change, admittedly, and my current (lacking in acclimation this Fall) blood circulation is not sad to see the warmer temps, though I'd like it to freeze hard enough for there to be no doubt re. ice thickness on the trail I take out to the bush, so I can head that way with my younger son soon enough to see a friend out there.
