: Hydro, if you ever visit, I will pop a few CCFLs around the side to increase the yield a bit :xmasnut:

Good to see people de-lurking for the occasion Trip, and the very warm post Geb, cheers. I have a friend making a similar cab too! It will have some very interesting features such as flip-flopping if it all comes together nice. If you're doing similar to mine, maybe not one plant but even for a sog, the most helpful thing after the lights was definitely the slide out floor. It cost 30 or 40 bucks, was very easy to install, and I couldn't have pulled this off the way I did without it.

Also I did mention this recently, but my hydro nutes dropped out of solution like, last grow. From when I read up on it a while ago, this is a very, very bad thing. Bad enough that you should make a special trip for new nutes asap kinda thing. So I was serious earlier - a fully dialled grow, or a higher performance hydro system would get another 50% on top of this, I reckon.

Peace. :thanks:

Hey cheese thanks :santa1: just over 12 weeks in flower. Fair few ambers probably 50% but I didn't look too close, got a pic but it's not real good. I don't know if you guys have noticed but on this and the only other one I let go longer than usual (that huge skunk#1 I posted) but the seperate buds that make up each huge cola sort of seperate slightly. Like each individual bud's stem becomes weaker, and so the buds have a distinct floppiness. Noticed that?

Excellent, J  And thanks for your help with the bulbs. I'm looking forward to the 2700-3000k mix in the next cab. That tester I cut early shouldn't be too far off from dry now.

Pre-Proper Smoke Report

I smoked some up today, but it's still a little too damp to really savour. It's not couchlocky at this point. I got high, went to the organic shops and hardware and then had a joint at a lookout overlooking the city and it was great. Then I got home and realised I'd forgot to lock the front door. I'm always real careful about that so it was definitely the weed. :) Makes you want to do things, but then you're not really able to do them to the best of your ability but it makes it fun doing them. Giggly, and smiley. Good vibes. This one album came on in the car and I never normally get into it but today I rocked out to it.

Overall, very nice. The flavour though was almost non existant. Sometimes I'll water cure some buds, but then add a tiny portion of unwater-cured to give it a subtle hint of flavour. And that's what this tasted like. Certainly not bad at all, but the lack of flavour surprised me. And I don't just mean like skunk or afghan flavour, I mean like marijuana flavour! There were definite similarities to WC'd weed, despite no cure. It was almost just hot air with thc in it.

It was very very very smooth, especially for that stage of the game. We'll see how it burns up as time progresses. It's gonna be wierd stuff after a water cure. :smokeit:

Edit: I got my soft rock too - only 35kg! And molasses to replace the faulty bottle I had. Oh and the place where I got the rock sells bulk molasses I found out. They sell huge sacks of diatomite for cheap too, damn you ebay.

Thats cool as bro, sounds like a good smoke and a nice place to have a joint ;) :smoker: Here's a couple of harvest shots of my FNQ Indica after 7 days dry, couple of bottom nugs were removed from the mini bat and man they were fruity and smooth, I think the molasses def did help with this harvest, I haven't tried the other plants yet as this one was so tempting to try first. Well done with your plant to bro, great work can't wait to see you crank the PD's and others. Mine is doing great, photos to come soon. Anyways have a gander at these for now:-

Crikey dude. Mad respect! I've seen freezerboy post a thing something like; before I joined IC, I measured my buds against my thumb. After IC, I measure them against my forearm. It springs to mind right now. Rock on, dawg. That is cool as hell. They got lightly pollinated with the dyna's eh? Or am I mixed up :smokeit:

I think I'm gonna switch the PDs over to the PLL cab maybe tomorrow, but it's only gonna be 110w. So if I have bulb sockets 1, 2, 3, 4. The bulbs would be in 1 and 3, and switched occasionally to 2 and 4. Power costs went up by something stupid like 60%. Gonna get hot here too. I created a cool training trick with tent pegs, I'll get a photo when it's all set up. They're just starting to fluff out decent hairs now and they're trained in a way that makes absolute best use of all the vegging f*ck-ups that led up to this point. Basically the stretch was a lot more than most would like but it was *juuust right* and the nodes are all the exact distance away from each other that I want my final buds to be.

I think I discussed this briefly with Pedro the other day on his thread. I thought I thought up the idea myself but I was re-reading Hydro's pl-l thread in my sig and realised knna was onto the idea as well, and that was no doubt how the idea got in my head. It makes a lotta sense to me. In my words: Keep everything low from the word go, so you don't waste time vegging, and keep it stretchy because the buds will be bigger, with the extra spacing. I'm out to disprove the tight internodes myth with this grow :D

It probably doesn't apply to your style much, Boom, but for flat/level grows, I think it's the bomb. Try it out people. :pimp3: Thoughts? Does anyone do that already?

For veg, standard (not full spectrum) 5400-5600K. But if the veg is done for a scrog, you wont want too sort internodes, so i would use directly 3000K both for veg and flowering.

On vegging, adding a incandescent lamp during the last hour of light increase branching and canopy cover (by doing leaves larger and thinner) so plants reach and fill the net faster. This is useful aswell on the flowering induction phase, by shortening it (not much important on scrog).

Of course in my method, I used a low wattage of lighting, and it was so low that the higher kelvins stopped the stretch being *too much*. Basically I blagged my way through it perfectly, lol.

intriguing... but don't tight internodes also come with a fat stem and support system?

I hope you're right though scrub, and I can take some boxes out of the stacker xL.

Well that's a good point. I hadn't considered that at all. My questions would be: Is that actually true? I mean, I have put it out there it's a good idea, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have thick stems imo, but I can't scientifically say for certain. From reading the Arcata Trainwreck thread I learned TW has weedy stems which can't support the bud weights and topples over, hence the name, sort of. And that has freakin' huge buds! My stems are quite thin. I think the nutrient deficiencies haven't helped with that, so we'll see how it goes.

Mj, do you have any idea how much rock I should top dress in each pot? I mean, I hope I have some microbial action going on there after all this work. The pots are about half a gallon.

Typical Analysis w/w
Total Phosphorus (as calcium phosphates)..10%
Total Potassium (as inorganic P) ........... 0.6%
Silicon ...................................26%
Iron ..................................... 2.0%
Magnesium......................... 6600 ppm
Sulphur ............................ 4500 ppm
Carbon............................. 1590 ppm
Manganese ......................... 1500 ppm
Chloride............................. 260 ppm
Copper .............................. 120 ppm
Zinc................................. 325 ppm
Cadmium.............................<1 ppm
pH...................... 8.4 (1:5 water extract)
Solubility ......................... Not Soluble
Particle Size.......................... <2.0 mm
Appearance: Fine & coarse powder.
Calcium..................................24%

I'll start the bidding with, say, a lightly heaped teaspoon per pot? The plants showed P def as soon as I started flowering and they still are a bit def. I figured I would give them this but keep feeding light guano, but tail it off as the rock hopefully becomes active. Is that in the ballpark? Should I make teas with it instead? :thanks:

Scrub, you should really PM verdant green. He uses rock, and he has the best looking plants on the organic forum IMO. I disagree with him on theory as he is firmly from the traditional English school, but his results are better than mine by far. I use bone meal, but when the bag is done I will switch to rock. So let me know what he says.

Of the two options though, I would do the top dressing, and scratch it in, then cover that with worm castings or compost. But I just made that up, so ask verdant. The best advice in organics is to follow the directions. It's more like baking than like making stir-fry.

I don't know scrub, I think we call it stretching because it looks like a stretch. The stem is thinner, the nodes farther apart, you know, stretch. More nodes means more leaves, more nutes, more sugars, and thus more traffic. More traffic needs bigger roads.

Not bad buddy congrats on the harvest! I'm fully perpertual! My Oregon Grape bagseed plants gave me 8g and 8.3g so lil over a half zip on 2 plants!! I'm back muthafuckas hahaha I love this new bagseed the shit is tasty and stoney as fuck dude! Can you tell I'm excited ? Hahaha yea man I think I'm just gonna run this shit in my perpetual cab cuz that's 24g a week or more cuz that's just letting go 8 weeks they could go 9 for sure so thats what it will be next time... Also doing the Head Formula for my straight coco I'm using now with Cutting Edge Solutions MICRO and BLOOM with the 6/9 ratio 6ml MICRO 9ml BLOOM and the girls LOVE IT!! and seem to be growing faster than before so I'm stoked! My Thunder Goo's I'm using the mix on are in week 6 turning purple and smelling so sweet and they are dense too! So the CES 3part minus the GROW with a lil Superthirive and Heads Formula and you can't go wrong from the looks of it! K I'm done ranting I'm just stoned off the Oregon Grape cut I found and boy is it nice! Can't wait to taste it after it's totally cured I just tested a nug that had been in the jar for a hour or so but it was tasty!!!

Whatup Cheeser, cheers. Lol Thund, that sounds even more complex than what I'm doing :) I'm actually pretty keen on an approach like yours when I have the ability. I'll be growing all styles when I get the right living situation. I miss my ec meter :( Don't lose that perpetual motion :)

Thanks mj I will do that. Molasses story for ya: When I finally opened that new jar, the lid popped off (gas behind it) and a very visible cloud of white smoke/gas drifted out. I was like what the hell? I tried closing it and the seal was fooked, It wouldn't seal down, kept turning. I closed the lid anyway and came back a few minutes later and it had swollen in volume and you could see tiny air bubbles in it.

I took it back and exchanged it with the lady right there. I could see all the ones on the shelf had swelling lids so I was like "I'll just open it here to make sure this one's ok" and it popped off too and she pretended to be surprised. I had told her it's for compost tea so she was like "if you're not eating it, it doesn't matter"...so I was all like "yes it does, there's bad microbes in there, and it's all about the microbes" and she was like "well ok then". And I can guarantee all those bottles will still be there next time. They're such tight asses.

Something like that would be highly risky to ingest, right? I'm sure I read it was bad for teas. I went to the other organic store (these are all hippy-food type stores, not stock feed) and they had the same brand with the swollen lids. Should I report these tossers if I see that they haven't removed the jars or is it no big deal? I tasted a speck and spat it out and it was bitter, not sweet as normal, like the sugar had been consumed already, and a fermented smell.

Scrub, that sounds like wild yeasts or lactic acid bacteria and such, probably a great addition for your purposes - though I could be disatrously wrong ;) . you should PM microbeman or CTguy, they can tell you better than me.
