My best friends and I rarely agree.

I prefer engaging those with differing views. Quite often I learn something.

You learn nothing in an echo chamber.

We could likely be friends.

That's fairly rare these days...

Disagreements lead to shootings and burnt bridges more than fist fights and mended friendships....

These days, anyway.

that would be scary for someone that thinks they already know. ;)

People are people. The majority of LE are decent people. There are assholes everywhere. You can't expect that none are LE.

Having said that I find it difficult to understand how the culture has gotten to the point where good LE looks the other way or protects the bad LE because of what's called the Blue Wall. The good cops get ostracized for calling out the bad ones. It's an embedded culture that needs to go away. Fortunately in the day and age of body cams it has become easier for those LE that are doing right to not have to "Snitch" and can report accurately on wrongdoing because all they're doing is acknowledging what the bodycam shows.
I expect more from people who place themselves in positions of power, whether political or LE.

And MMPI scores say that not everyone is drawn to positions of power for altruistic reasons... Hardly.

I worked with cops in tandem in MH, both as a military civilian contractor and in the private sector, and had some as clients, too. Some pretty 'interesting' stories about some of those who are licensed to kill with less scrutiny.

The CID boys in the Army often rattled off a ditty that made you think they had rap star potential. It went like this: "If accused of a crime, admit nothing, deny everything and demand an attorney." These were military plain clothes cops in Uncle Sam's Army.

As I wrote before, a former friend in NOLa helped the feds put away 26 NOLa cops for things ranging from murder-for-hire, racketeering, escorting coke shipments, extortion, etc., and a long list of former NOLa cops went down with them./ Gary told the feds that if they'd contginued, instead of shutting it down prematurely due to intercepting officers' cell phone calls that they were going to kill a woman who'd complained against one of the more serious offenders, they'd have easily had 75 corrupt cops in cuffs instead of 26. The cops killed the woman anyway. I posted a link to the entries earlier in one of these threads. Maybe this one.

Look into the rampant perjury I referenced in re. to arrest warrant and search warrant affidavits, incident reports, fabricating probable cause, and bogus court room testimony.

In Alaska fibbing under oath for an LE is a Class B felony.

Few to none are prosecuted for it, and every cop who is aware that another cop is lying under oath is also complicit in a felony.

And it's often worse in frequency in places Outside, than in Alaska.

There's a reason these guys often refuse to, or complain about having to wear body cams, and it's not because of restroom breaks.

Why, then, are we faced with only two parties?
we have more than two, and there are lots of differing points of view in them all... in spite of how at times they seem to be mono blocs, nothing could be further from the truth. there WILL always be a predominant theme expressed however, but it too can be subject to change, which NEVER occurs as fast (or slow) as many might hope for... :smoke:

sounds like good legal advice. LEO unions/attorneys NEVER allow an accused officer to take a lie detector test, you know.
If they weren't entrusted with public safety, endowed with the ability to use lethal force without as much scrutiny, and didn't have the records of suspect performance I know many of them have, it might be fine legal advice. But knowing what I do about cops, it's an additional tacit approval and license to be an immunized gangster.

Aren't these the same guys who complain and sometimes threaten when a suspect invokes their right to an attorney or to remain silent?

Seems a bit cheese-dick to me.

It is.

Be wary of folks trying to pretend that either side of an issue would or should be different in a similar situation.

If we can hide behind appellate judiciation then so can they.

It's strange when folks judge lopsided evaluation arbitrarily, while simultaneously judging those doing the same the same way.

Our Constitution is the best thing going for us...

Trump hasn't read it, would never understand (or agree) with it, and he's currently trying to dismantle it.

If some asshat thinks that this is the year to let him destroy the only hope that stands for our nation, please let them know what they truly are (in)acting towards.

Before it's too late.

Some Heads Are Gonna Roll (Live)

Song by

Judas Priest
You can look to the left and look to the right
But you will live in danger tonite
When the enemy comes he will never be heard
He'll blow your mind and not say a word
Blinding lights-flashing colors
Sleepless nights
If the man with the power
Can't keep it under control
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
The power-mad freaks who are
Ruling the earth
Will show little they think you're worth
With animal lust they'll devour your life
And slice your word to bits like a knife
One last day burning hell fire
You're blown away
If the man with the power
Can't keep it under control
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Know what it's like
When you're taken for granted
there goes your life
It's so underhanded
If the man with the power
Can't keep it under control
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
Oh-no!
Some Heads are gonna roll
Oh-no! (Some heads are gonna roll)

Anyone thinking that if the Dems win, then Gaza policy will change for the better, is investing in dishonest double-speak.

This 18-year State Dept veteran who resigned over Gaza repeats what I have been saying, along with others, for quite some time now.

Partisan Copium or Hopium from people who are willing to continue violating US and international laws while aiding genocide committed by Israel, now branded an illegal state by the ICJ, is not an answer, but rather a sign of partisan gullibility and blinders. Period.

Why would anything change? US policy has been to support Israel for decades. It doesn't matter what party is in power. The policy will stay the same.

As for Gaza Policy, the Dems have the white House right now. Why would anything change after Harris wins?

more progressive than prior presidents, god help me for saying this but it's true
tilted a little further away from the unconditional support of Israel, that is progress, but just a little

Paying lip service to the zeitgeist du jour is hardly progressive.

Because continuing to send munitions and money to Israel at this point is now formally and technically a war crimes violation.

Thus, those who continue to do so will never again have ANY platform whatsoever from which to bitch about 'respect for law and order', as they are willfully violating the laws every day now. They lose all credibility, just as the former State Dept person points out.

The policy regarding the Israel/Palestine issue has been the same regardless of party for decades.

Israel can do whatever it wants. They still get weapons.

It doesn't matter who's President of the United States of America.

Fact.

Time to move on. The policy is not going to change.

Barrack Obama, though technically a war criminal, refused Netanyahu's tantrum-like demand that he kill a resolution at the UN citing and criticizing Israel's 'excesses'. He's the only one since Jimmy Carter to politely tell Bibi to 'fuck off.'
