I lived outside this country for many years and my wife comes from a country with 16 political parties, Christian Democrats, Socialist, Green Party etc. It has nothing to do with what goes on here.

Are you kidding? In Massachusetts we are bursting at the seems spending 100s of millions $$ accommodating immigrants and putting them in hotels.

One major thing you misunderstand is that supporting the meager social programs we do have requires a base majority of people paying for it. We can not sustain endless migrants arriving expecting handouts. Europe has it much worse due to the extensive social benefits they provide. Uncontrolled immigration will collapse the system.
