Outdoor update - Mini scrogs, training, healthy Malawi

Outdoor update - Mini scrogs, training, healthy Malawi

Winding those chair girls into their cages every day, trained ZAMKC clone 3, opening up her middle. All 3 got almost full strength N yesterday. Malawi continues to get all she needs from the rain and her repot. Putting her in soil corrected her leaf problems and now color, health are good.

One crazy idea I had was to bring the three ZAmKCs inside and their new sisters outdoors to continue flowering with month headstart. But, their deficiencies are looking better, indoor and out, so no radical moves yet. Plus, that would only worsen the size differences in the tent between strains. Very close to supercropping the ZAmPams and wrapping them back toward center.

So I looked back on the thread since the girls went into the 5x5 July 28 and I'm pretty happy with where things're at, indoor and out. Indoor, it's 3 weeks since the girls are in PM light and they are acting correctly and healthily. Still haven't nailed the sweet spot in the feeding regimen, and haven't yet seen the reaction to the top dress as I missed lights on completely yesterday. Have to see tonight. I'll add another couple of spyders, and do some wrapping of tops around the tent. Outdoor girls are getting some nice, sunny days before flower. They're getting ready to pop and are showing small preflowers. Another week and they'll be a-flowering, I think. That's the nudes, dwd

DWD ya know I was gonna say those OD ladies you should stick them somewhere dark at six pm then put them back out after dark get them flowering now . Soon days will be short enough to leave them out. Get a two week headstart :chin: that's what I do with long flowering ones..

Hye, Buddler, your outdoor is looking phenomenal, ridonculous. Excellent idea, but doesn't work for my sched. I go to work either at 2 or 5pm, besides, I took a good look at the OD clones and they're gonna start bloom now:biggrin: Took me by surprise.
If I did end up switching out the big zAMKCs from the tent who are already three weeks in, they'd have an excellent head start and love the sun. But, the clones should go 8 weeks max, I think, and if they start flower now, they're gonna get all they need timewise:peacock:

I just watered the tent girls and they look great. Even better now that I got rid of the pulleys and slung the light support wires directly over the support bars and gained about 7" height on the Amare. That is one big fixture, boy. Anyway, budding is looking very good on everyone, looks like they felt the top dress. Zam x KCs are getting healthier and flowers look good on all of the ZamPams. Beautiful buds, these.
Anyhoo, maybe an additional light in the near future. Photos in a few days if I can hold off.

And lo! Pics you shall have;) OD development

And lo! Pics you shall have;) OD development

Thanks wumpyc, Buddler:tiphat:
Clones all picking up good color with regular feeding. Malawi looking sensational, has got Tiger Bloom to good effect; 2-8-4, so light N. This plant stinks pure skunk to high heaven. I'm thinking in 2 months the ZAmKCs inside'll be done and I can bring her in to finish last couple of months. Be a true Xmas tree by then, both in structure and in timing.

This may seem nuts, but I may kill/gift off clone 3 just to keep numbers way down. ANyhoo, feast yer eyes on my beastly (yet minimalist) babes.

Indoor update - big girls need repot.

Indoor update - big girls need repot.

They got good feeding yesterday and today around EC .9-1.0. The three gal pots are looking very small for these 6 ft girls, lots of yellowing lower leaves on the ZAmPams. I'm thinking I'll do what I did with the healthier girls outside; drop them into 5 gals with Happy Frog soil. It'll reduce watering frequency a bit and green them up without adding a ton more N.

Flowers are healthy looking; I didn't trim off the lowers as they're sucking nutrients from them ATM, but I will at repot.

Edit: Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a used 750w Black Dog, factory refurbished and cheap. Another huge light (24"x24")to put alongside the Amare and that'll do it for light for a while;) I can pull the tops of the ZamPams way down to even the canopy into a bud field as the two lights will cover the hell out of the tent.

Yeah, she's looking, smelling amazing. Really no other word for her stink. And around here, we have a ton of skunks, so I know what I'm talkin about;) I may go nuts and bring her inside as I'll have the light coverage for her. She's ready to pop into flower.

Deepwaterdude, I had the pleasure of washing the thick yellow oily, greasy spray of a skunk off of my dogs face last week. We have a galvanized wash basin on the front deck for washing the dogs off when they play in the mudd after a rain. After my dog got sprayed she walked over to it and climbed in. Looking up at me sneezing and coughing out the spray from her nose and mouth. Dad please help me, this stuff is terrible. My sense of smell is so limited after a head injury. I chuckled, How did that work out for you? Oddly enough the pure skunk fluid doesn't smell the way it does in the air when diluted some. It has a very strong burnt rubber smell. My fore arms and hands had the unappreciated aroma for a day or two afterwards. Furry kids? gotta love 'em. Peace

That poor pup! We washed the dog in tomato sauce/paste whenever that happened, which thankfully was no more than twice. That is definitely one pleasure I can put off until, well, forever;) I had a skunk rear up at my car the other day, was sure it had got sprayed as I went by, but got lucky. Was on my way to work, too.

I'm celebrating the successful end of a longass day with some dispensary Jilly Bean (always love this herb, tastes/smells like sweet tarts) with a bit of what they call "Natural Hash" in it. Basically like a golden/unpressed Morrocan hash. Which is what I was jonesing for. Anyhoo, drove 10 hours round trip and picked me up the big Black Dog light. My girls will be awake in an hour, but I don't see myself struggling over the spindly, beloved necks of me babes to put the thing up tonight. It's a beast. So, mission accomplished and I'm happy about it. But too tired to give a crap;)

dwd your going to have a killer grow room

I hope so, B, definitely primo lights anyway;) The girls are doing really well already, now I have to figure out the hanging/position scheme for the lights. They're getting bigger food in week 4 of 11/13, 1.4-1.6 EC and liking it a lot. They really were lacking N. Haven't repotted yet, seeing first if they can get along with just better feedings.

Outdoor clones are flowering;) Malawi not yet.

Okidoki, hung the massive Black Dog in there alongside the Amare, which, surprise, is actually less deep but bigger dimensionally than the BD. Two bigass lights. I took the very wise suggestion of sir Buddler, above:tiphat:, got the ladies out, turned the light bar (2 5ft bars taped together) sideways with the Amare affixed to it, slid that light to the left, used all my brains and body power to muscle the BD into place with four beefy light hangers to the right of middle, leveled the sucker as high as I could (turns out even with the Amare) and then repositioned the plants in new home.

The two ZAmxKCs are directly under the Amare on far left, pots of the 3 ZAmPams are up against these pots and their necks are stretched across to the right, middle and top of plants under the BD. I trimmed up the bottoms of the girls a tad, gave them their daily feeding keeping to the advised schedule on the Sensi at about 75% w/added Big Bud at same strength. Big rains in evening for the OD girls, big sun in morning. Good lookin. I'm trying to be better about feeding the coco girls outside.

Pics soon, prolly tonight, tomorrow. good day, happy growing, dwd:biggrin:

ju c? when life gets sort of mundane, take a looong ride, spend a buck or two, put your (still) juvenile muscles in gear and voila! a hell of an adventurous day!
yet isn't there an inconsistency in terms of space and wattage? :)

congrats on the illumination!

Si Senor, you gotta be in it to win it;)

There is a challenge to find the best way to distribute light with a 750w and a 400w, but I've figured out in theory how to spread the girls a little better; i.e. put all 5 pots in one line in this order; Zampam, ZamKC, ZamPam, ZamKC, ZamPam. This move to the left of one foot or so will drop the heads of the three ZamPams right under the BD and spread out the two ZAmKC bushes under the Amare. With the Amare I will either-1 throw on the lenses to concentrate more intense light on these two gals as I've got the distance, or 2 lift ZKCs 6-10 inches and keep wider light spread. The second option would also lift these out of the ZamPam bottoms.

I'm gonna rat myself out here and just admit I have a light buying addiction. The moment I got this thing installed, my little mind surfed the unpredictable waves of the internet, finally getting caught in a prefect storm of doubt; how white light is so much better, blahblah, why blurple panels don't compete, make wimpy plants etc... Of course I agree and consequently go nuts.

Digging deeper, I found a perfect panel for an excellent price that would be excellent for my space and situation, of course, and actually have somehow held off buying it. The sick part is not the mental masturbation, it's the putting on craigslist the very light I bought three days earlier with huge effort and glee (eclipse insanity?). I did have a bunch of other lights to put up for sale, but this is some sort of record. Even for me. I'm also waffling on whether to actually sell it. I've got 750w of primo LED over three plants, basically, with fine distribution and serious power compared to the screw ins. It gives off good heat too, which I think my plants have been missing flowering at night. If I've learned one thing watching Texicwaste's Malawis like a fascinated chimp, it's that mighty light makes mighty tight ones. I may have to practice some mental/financial discipline and commit to this light for this grow. That said I could get two of these 260w panels to put on either side of the Amare and then I swear I'm done. *&%$ me, someone's calling...

OD plants are killing it, albeit veeery slowly going to flower. Good color and vigor, gonna be Yuuuge... for small plants.

Indoor update-28 days after flip.

Indoor update-28 days after flip.

dwd sounds like you got your available light distributed well.

Thanks, my bro, the freak is over, plants look to be well situated and the tent is full of buds:biggrin: If I daresay, they look pretty good for four weeks since light change. I've got most buds at @ 18in from the LEDs, save that Alfalfa sprig I took a closeup of. I still have to lift ZamC2 6". These are stinky already, deep fruit and dank smell. They'll do better than my last round.

Here's what they looked like this AM before lights off. OUtdoor pics next post.
