Got some room cleared out, some cleaning still to do BUT have two of the 200x3w panels up. I had them hanging horizontally on the "short" walls of the 4x8 but it didn't hang right.

attachment.php

Still ironing out the details as well as if I want to do just two inward panels in the back for each 4x4 section and if it will be enough lighting.

attachment.php

I am thinking of then having one panel on a light mover above going across the 4x8 and helping out both canopies.

attachment.php

As things progress, I will keep everyone posted.

off to smoke some lady berry kush

Some shots from this morning ( around 2am )
these are the lady berry kush, kushy haze and aardvarks mix and I think one jackpot royale that finished. I have plenty more LBK and KH in veg and they will be going into flower a.s.a.p. because this stuff is STONEY ( had to try some tester nugs )

I am not sure what these girls pulled yield wise each but the tops are damn dense and the bottom fluff isn't too bad BUT I should have trimmed that off. I tend to leave a bit too much larf on the bottom for "tester smoke" in case I run low on meds during the middle of cycles... old habits die hard I suppose lol.

Either way, I am focusing on 2 ounces out of 2 gallons of soil mix. Whichever strains can get me there are the ones that will be ran in 2013!

glad to have you and I too hope to destroy my 2012 results and stoked to get my keepers mostly ironed out for 2013

there is plenty of room and happy to have you along for the ride.

are you drying ur buds in ur tent? not a great idea but ok. lol . iunno i like my buds chopped after atleast 24 hours dark.. and i like my plants to not get much if any light during there dry time...

since Thc degrades with light.. ur proly making ur bud less potent.

lol

this has already been hashed and rehashed in my old thread as well as this one.

pretty much,

the led panels were pointing DOWN and not shining UP at the buds, no I do not normally dry in a tent but the 4x8 was perfect for it how I had it setup.

now with the recent vertical updates however the drying will go back to the normal "drying rack tent" of mine.

nothing is getting degraded from the panels :thank you:

now if I was running vertical hps bulbs with 360 degrees of SHINE, it would be a totally different story.

leds are VERY directional and specific at where they shine

on the 24 hours of darkness, I used to worry about that but after testing 24-72 hour darkness bud versus non, there is no difference. I think you should relook into the darkness and the pros and cons because more and more are coming to the same conclusion which is, it does ZERO. All it did was add an additional step to growing based on what I think are assumptions and then it got "telephoned" around the net as facts.

anyone who can show a 24 hour left in dark bud versus a non 24 hour left in dark bud and there being a difference I am all ears and eyes.

attachment.php

Lately I have stopped caring about what I have read and heard and decided to actually TEST things out for myself. Many times, what I have read online doesn't always jive with what I see in front of me and my plants.

I do think people should do what works best in their gardens but just make sure it actually does something and not just continue doing it because of what others wrote or said online.

I have been tempted to do all four corners as well but everytime I add up the wattage being used (300-400w x 4) it just doesn't make sense for the sized area.

It will be a work in progress that will odds are keep changing

I chopped the two OTM's that I had in flower. Unlike the CCxSD, white rhino and cheesedog the old time moonshine was STILL not showing any preflowers or balls.. I can see these are LOOOOOONG flowering phenos and not right for my garden.

attachment.php

I would LOVE to locate a male but I just don't have the room or time to wait around seeing which is going to appear. These two OTM's were the biggest in the led vert section but looked like they wanted to first grow to 7+ feet before it decided what sex they wanted to be.

attachment.php

I will kick myself later for culling them no doubt because I always look for long running sat genetics when doing pollen chuckin projects ( which is right around the corner if all goes well ).

overall I am diggin growing under leds and can't wait to see what keepers from the casey's cousin x sour diesel ibl I can locate

Noooooo, ya killed the OTM's! How long were they veggin from seed before ya flipped them to flower?

I still have "unsexed" ones still in veg but the ones I just culled vegged 3-4 weeks I believe just like the rest they went in with ( I will have to check ) but everything else is "30 + days" into flower and has hairs and forming happy budsites and the OTM's were just happy to see if they could grow through the top of my tent before they decided to show sex. Not a hair or ball on them after 30+ days of flowering.

I don't have 90+ days to flower anything currently but if I had the ability to run these outdoors I would eat that up no doubt. I don't like cutting anything especially when I am loving how it is growing, it just wasn't the type of pheno for my tents.

If only I had those phenos when I had some multi 1k hps stadium runs going.

From what i was told, they need atleast 60 days before they go in to be mature of flowering will initiate slowly an seem late. I was told this by many reputable people on here an a breeder here too. Theres a maturation that happens when growing from seed that you need to hit before throwing into flower. You cant get a good judgment from a plant strain by flippin so early. Good thing ya still got some OTM in the jungle. I had this happen on my Green Dragon and my Strawberry Diesel i popped from seed. They didnt flower right away an looked like they were stalling. Then i put cuts taken from the same mothers and flower clusters set weeks sooner this time. I had no clue to this untill this grow, learned alot this last round since i started researching breeding. Ya learn alot of the inner workings of our beloved plant. Ask some breeders on here, im sure they will say the same. Some things in our indoor enviorments an be pushed to their limits like co2/light intensity an such, but maturation is thing that just is when it comes to growing from seed.

I know that the clone version will set flowers and do everything faster than its seed grown counterpart however unlike every other strain in my garden OTM wasn't showing sex soon enough for me so it got hacked.

Seed grown versus clone grown has always worked that way but long running sativas are a whole different ball of wax indoors.

Whether it was male or female it was already wanting to be an 8 foot plant while living in a 7 foot tent  so either way, not right for my garden.

As far as people saying you need seed grown plants to go 60 days in veg before flower, that is news to me and if that were the case my last 5+ years of growing I would HATE growing lol.

The longest any seed grown plant sits in veg is around 30 days at most. All other strains will usually sex within the first 2-3 weeks of flower OR they show preflowers in veg IF left longer.

What I like to do IF I want to speed things up is the following.

1. grow out the seed for 3-4 weeks in veg
2. throw the plants in flower to sex for 1-2 weeks
3. cut clones from the lower growth of the females
4. either toss the "Seed grown" females back in veg to be the moms OR flower them out to see if growing out the clones will be worth my time by seeing how the "seed grown" phenos did.

Sadly I doubt I will even keep the seed grown plants chillin in veg but hey since these ones have been sitting in veg for what could be an assumed 50-60 days and counting ( will have to check but should be right around 60 days ) and when I toss them in flower I hope they will show sooner rather than later.

Now what would be irritating is that if they have in theory been in veg for the 60 or so days and go into flower and still need 30+ days before showing their sex it would really be a for sure "not for my garden" strain.

If I was growing outdoors I wouldn't grow any indica leaning and would be locating as many super long thinned leaved sativas as possible and hope to grow some 10+ foot monsters. A guy can dream can't he lol.

To anyone else in the conversation or interested, what have your thoughts been on needing to let a seed grown plant get a good month or two of veg versus what many have ( like myself ) do which is doing either 12/12 from seed or 1-4 weeks of veg and then into flower to get sexed first then hackin clones to root/flower and stuffing the seed grown girl in veg as a potential mama.

Is it mainly sativa leaning plants that need the extra time or are there indica types? For example, the sour bubble bx3/bx4 needed to veg for a good month or two whether it was from seed or clone for it to produce decent. Now the buds that came from them was amazing BUT they did need MONTHS of veg to be worth growing out. I guess that isn't exactly specific to seed grown needing longer as the sour bubs all needed veg whether seed/clone.

Interesting thoughts Arthritis sucks

keep it green brother!

Alrighty, just got done tending to the girls and had to toss some pics up.

attachment.php

I am diggin the vertical grow so far, it allows me to not keep my canopy under control. Only thing I might do is rotate the girls around a bit so they all get even coverage since they only have two panels pointed at them currently ( 2 x 200x3w panels ) and while I could put four panels facing them I can't justify the wattage usage for the space.

attachment.php

The caseys cousin x sour diesel has some KILLER phenos from what I am seeing. I can't wait to see which ones to keep around in my mama tents to cut clones from.

attachment.php

I also have some lady berry kush from field marshall seeds about to go into flower. These are going into 3 gallon grow bags and will be my biggest vegged girls yet so I can't wait to see how they perform.

attachment.php

all in all these growblu leds fuckin rock

off to smoke a hash bowl and refill my watering jugs so they can off gas for a couple days

If all grows right for me in 2013 I should have a solar powered grow tent in place come 2014 so I am pretty excited. I have been wanting to get my grow off grid ( like most odds are ) and I think with led lights it is more than doable.

th

I am looking at Solar Generators but will odds are just build one up and rig up whatever amount of battery bank I need. It won't be a cheap project but I just see so many benefits to having a grow NOT on any city grid even if the rest of your appliances are.

This could also allow for remote off grid growing while indoors, in an rv, trailer etc. Alot of what ifs running through my head I guess.

Has anyone seen a solar grow before and if so, any links or thoughts? In my head it really will come down to the battery bank and what sort of wattage it can store compared to the wattage of everything needed to run the grow tent itself.

All I need is 12 hours of juice during the night and then they would be charging the batteries during the day ( not sure how many days would be needed for full charge but all of that will come during the actual DESIGN phase and not this "dream" phase that I am currently in.

To get things started I want to keep it simple and only 1 panel and expand from there IF I see benefits that outweigh the investment in going offgrid.

In the end it would have solar/wind to charge the batteries and from the outside of a house it would just look like you are trying to be green, well hell I guess when you think about it you REALLY ARE being green HAHA and in a much better way.

WOW man you are killing it !!!!

LED grow, vert LED grow and now an OFF-GRID grow !!!!

Hell yea !!!

i have a buddy who has a remote cabin with solar power and wind power. runs mostly DC power (CFL's, etc...) but he has an inverter and can run some AC power. and you are correct, it's not cheap to get started, but will definitely pay off in the long run. plus it gets you off the grid with smart meters and all that bullshit !!!

as far as someone else growing this way...

Hi Med, beautiful large flowers, with those led, you must have all right to have this .. how many weeks of flowering are you?

whats up brother

I am running perpetual so they are at different stages but to sum it up

I have some that just went passed 60 days and will soon be finishing ( under the white growblu panel ) and can't wait to see what that panel pulled.

I also have 3 that are right around 60 days that were moved to the "vert" section just due to being to big to deal with canopy training wise.

There are the caseys cousin x sour diesel ibl, cheesedog and white rhino that just went passed 30 days in flower and can't wait to see which are worth running clones of.

I have some OTM, cheesedog and white rhino ( from seed and un sexed ) in veg that need to get ran through the flower box so to speak and see what comes of them.

I have 10-12 girls that are about to go into flower that will be put into 3 gallon grow bags ( normally I run 2 gallons ) and have been vegging for 30 days give or take and can't wait to see what they pull under a single panel OR I might get them vertical as well ( not sure yet ).

Just alot of stuff going on, ironing out details as usual and happy to have everyone along for the ride.
