little update from myself,
cracked most of my stuff, church took ages to sprout, had to attack them with razors to get them going, thev made up for it though and are out growing everything else.

i lost a load of purple widow, i left them a bit too close to their heat source me thinks. :bashhead:

got my cold frame up and going and was planning to put out early but iv gotten late frosts the last couple of days so ill wait till june probably.

apart from that the usual back breaking soil lugging:toohot: and nettle collection for tea. i also think iv got my strain wish list ready for next year :wahey:

also rory did you get the greencure in the end?

Lil bit of frost here too tonto, took the ones in pots inside to the conservatory at night.
The 3 girls planted out were fine, growth slowed a little and probably will do utill the winds shift from the north.
Shame about the PW but sure who has'nt fryed a seedling or 2 :)

Looking forward to hearing how the church fares out, a few people i know are trying it outside this year.
Whats on the list for next year Tonto?

Many years back b4 i knew what i was doing with MJ i found a high field next to a lake i used to fish . It was like a tropical jungle with nettles docks & thistles all above 8ft most over 10ft . The field was beautiful soil coz it was the stuff from the seweage filter beds from the sewerage farm that owned the field .
Easy access to water being right next to the lake & under cover of darkness while night fishing ideal . So in i goes with a machete & 30 odd plants bout 2ft high all grown from bagseed !!!
They came to bugger all but probably beat the world reord for height , sadly the sewerage farm & field have gone , missed opportunity .

man after my own heart , thats all i use in the whole garden for growth/veg , trouble is it smells as bad as Cookie Monsters sewerage !!!

i`m still trying to find a decent organic for flower & use an organic tomato feed but wish i could find an alternative from nature . Mollasses helps & Bannana skin is near impractible .

Stay safe all . BGB

Rezin bro it's always great to hear from you :) i must pop by the UK thread and say Hi to a few of you guys, your good self, WAM and a few others.

Plenty of nettles down here in the bog going to waste and it would be a shame for the rest of us not to learn Your n Tontos tea recipes.

Little up date on whats going on here is that I have another male to throw into 12/12, rocket chunk x AH so thats 2 out of 6 I can share next year :jump:

Looking forward to hearing how you all get on and may we all stay safe and happy.

less smelly method

im giving comfrey ago for flowering

you know anything about using foxtail teas?

Good link but a bit impractcal for me . I use 2 large plastic dustbins with lids every year & fill both of them right up . This doe`s all the MJ + or garden plants & veg & the sludge from the bins goes on the compost heap . The missus`s Banana plant loves it to :plant grow:

Know nothing at all about Foxtail teas , be a bastard trapping enough of them :bump:

I also have a 40gal drum i make manure tea in , i saw an old guy on Gardeners World with an award winning garden of Hanging Baskets & containers , & i`m talking a beautiful display & all he used was Manure tea . So easy to make , sackfull of rotted horse manure on a rope dump in water & give it a tug daily for a couple of week or so & it`s ready . I actually wrap a bucket of crap in a piece of scaffold netting which i think works better coz the weave is a touch more open & very small bits pass through into the water . 10/1 dilution again . Weekly .
Fish/blood/bone can also be easily made , just dump 3_4ins of powder in a 4pt poly top up with water & shake daily for 3wk or so . A good glug in a full watering can twice a month .

I have been gardening for over 40yr & MJ seriously for a long time , was on OG & then PG with some beautiful plants all grown organically (see gallery) .
It`s the flower feed that i`m still working on coz i know somewhere in nature is the answer & i hope to get there mostly coz i`m i tight bastard & like stuff that comes free :jump:

I would love to get hold of enough Comfrey both for all my plants & as an addition to the compost bins but i need a friendly farmers field of it to borrow a couple of CWT .

just have to start studing and not sit at back of class

The only reason i sat there was to play with the girls ! ! !
Very good link .
Seaweed is not the best flower fert , at least i don`t think it is . I used to use it years ago in a 60ft G House on 1 of my gardening jobs just as a tonic for the summer growth in all the plants . I`m still looking for an easily found garden grown or wild plant .

Stay safe all . BGB

Hiya Tonto hope all is well,

Any of the strains i've tryed over the years ( it's a long list ) have started mid august.
Age and maturity i think plays a role in flowering as well as the amount of direct light, tho this is from observation so i may be well off the mark.

A good example would be the hollands hope i tryed last year ( pics in to outdoor growing in ireland thread ), the plant i harvested early due to mould was the mother of the clones and she was at least 2 weeks ahead of the clones and recieved more direct sunlight.

Hope Rezin will pop by and help us out :) with this....oh brother where arth thou :)

Things are looking up :), time to fill up the rain barrels and buckets.

Monday May 17 2010

SUMMER is beginning to limp in with temperatures to hit the mid-20s by the end of this week.
But despite the long awaited rise in the mercury, cloudy spells and rain showers will persist, according to forecasters.
Wednesday will see temperatures break the 20C barrier and continue to rise into the weekend.
Next weekend will be even warmer, with temperatures of up to 25C. The midlands will get the best of the warmth, but some western parts may still have to endure spells of rain.
Met Eireann forecaster Gerry Murphy said: "The winds will be travelling south-westerly from Monday night, which will raise temperatures from the cold spell we've had over the last week."
And according to British weather experts who correctly predicted last winter's big freeze, we're set to enjoy the heat well into late August and early September, giving us an extended bout of summer sunshine.
"This will be summer's first salvo, with a decent spell of weather predicted for the next two weeks going into June," Positive Weather Solutions senior forecaster Jonathan Powell said last night.

Small update on the garden, first pollen from one of the xf x ah males is being collected this week, a few days to dry then it's off to the freezer in a container of silica beads.

I've kept 1 pakistan valley females and it appears to be autoing so i may as well give her a dusting and see what happens.

One of the rocket chunk x ah is throwing out male pre-flowers so thats going into the tent for flowering.

Stay safe n happy all.

Thats bullshit!! Rezin was a good guy with a lot to offer, why the hell was he banned?

Hi all , busy thread & things are looking good . I`m always interested in UK & Eire outdoor threads as thats where my heart lays.
Done a few grows over the years looking for the perfect uk outdoor , grown some that are near & others that went in the bubble bin

Years back I was on OG then PG and spent some time away , still trying to find my way around this site what with the threads etc . Do a search & it`s like information overload .

Got a few different strains on the go & to quote your line at the top it was only while reading through the thread i see Rezin/BGB
now there can`t be many growers with his handle , used to see him on all my old sites & pretty sure i have some contact details coz i am growing a couple of his seed strains this year from some he sent me 2 or 3yr back .

Looks like summer may be here , fingers x`d it`s not too wet a one and a decent early autumn .

Stay green & safe .

Here's one of the XF x AH having a growing contest with my sweetcorn, wont be long untill she gets topped n trained.

Ah thats just a wee corner of the veg plot, the flower gardens not gonna be seen until it's reached perfection.

I assumed it was speed queen x white rhino but I'll double check and get back to you on that.
If I were to be honest I'd say that strain names aren't really that important to me, if they finish outdoors over here then a named strain will become important if you follow my gardeners logic :).

Sativa in the sun I'd love to be toking but alas I'm out of home grown and refuse to buy weed, making seed for next year is more important tbh.

Nah it's cool Grim, sure I could go out and pick up some if I wanted to, just not keen on lining the dealers pockets.
I'll be hashing to seed plants in 8-9 weeks and t'was time for a break anyhow.

Not really sure about numbers but at least 1 of each strain will be planted, neighbours are grand, I'm always helping out and drop in plenty of fresh fruit n veg in the growing season.

I've a pain in my ass trying to keep the plants in pots watered in this weather, tap waters ph10 and the rivers around 9 so I'm flying through vinegar and liquid ph test kits like they are going out of fashion.

In 15+yrs of guerilla & garden i have never ever bothered about PH in water . I hav`nt a clue what mine measures . I nearly always have a good crop with some lovely plants despite using the hose most of the time on my pot grown ones when the rain water butts are empty .I have never grown indoor due to lack of room & should imagine that PH would be critical then because of the high nutrients given to those plants .
I think that my organic regime outdoor balances any deficences in feed/PH as the plants final size/crop is generally good .

Have you ever thought of pumping river water into a tank with some charcoal in a bag & leaving it for a few days to sweeten ?

Stay green .
