mossy-Sure, go ahead! I'm sure it would be interesting.
I'd use a bag with a drawstring at one end, make the bag from several layers of heavy black cloth, just my 2c :joint:

Everyone- Long before i actually saw someone force a plant on the net, I heard of people bagging only one branch, I've never seen it done, but I've heard it rumored to work...

And now it is time to complete Mondays update!(NOTE: I mistakenly labeled some HM#3s as #4s and visa/versa as I uploaded pics.....oops! They are organized here though.

HM#3
Like I have said before, this plot is my pride and joy! She continues to thrive, and seems to have few problems I hope to really use this spot well next year.

OR95a-
:headbange

OR95b-

I love this plant! :jump:

OR95x NL-
:muahaha:

C99x OR95-

Like some of the other C99x OR95 plants this year, she is displaying some mutations that are not showing up in the other strains, that being a tendency to continue with slow blooming all through the summer, and a nearly complete stop in upward and outward growth.
In every plot I have seen the OR95s and OR95x NL surpass the C99x OR95 plants in size, this is interesting because the C99x OR95 started as the largest and fastest growing of all the strains. I believe they were more sensitive to the changes in photoperiod that I used to sex my plants this year, partly to the fact that they just got mature earlier than the others when the day length was shorter.
I won't start the C99x OR95 so early next year, and see what they do.

Here are the 7 other smaller plants I put here later in the season-

HM#4
This plots soil seems to hold water better than any of my others, I chalk this up to the fact these plants recieve a bet less Sun than everyone else, and to the fact that this plots soil contains much more Clay than my other plots.
Both of these factors(less sun and heavier soil) are also why I believe these plants are behind the others in size. But I have to say these plants can do without water for quite a bit, growing with a slightly reduced ammount of sunshine, and in Clay soil might not be a bad strategy for dealing with low water situations.....

OR95a-

I am begining to suspect that this plant may be a Male, this plant had strange looking preflowers that looked vaguely female, but the growth structure resembles a male at this point. Guess we will see soon.....

C99x OR95-

This plant displays some of the retardation as I pointed out in plot #3(see discription there).

OR95b-

What can I say about this plant? She is doing great! Cannabis critter relaxes with a well deserved spliff.

I'm already thinking about next years crop.....August and September are great months to hike the hills here and look for "Oasis", places that continue to have shallow ground water even into the absolute driest time of the year. I hope to get out and find several of these, so I can use them for Low maintenece crops next year(grow on their own).
Its great to get out this time of year, because in all the dry areas the green has died back and left browns and yellows, making it easy to pick out the green areas at a distance.

I also want to get out and develope a couple of plots for Auto-irrigation, I want to have resivours in place before the rain starts again, I want to have water stored on site, and holes dug before winter is even over.

Good stuff, BACKCOUNTRY! Your OR95's seem to dominate the crosses, all very columnar. Love your photoshopped companion! A puffing dog puts a new spin on the 'Man's best friend' tag. :D

Thanks guys!

Highlighter- Yeah, I've noticed lots of diamond shaped plants as well. And what can I say about the dog? She is smoking up all the weed!

rockmy79- I have no clue, I'm not really familier with what "uberstealth" is. I don't really order or trade seeds, I have so much stuff I come across locally that I don't really have time to take on more, LOL!
Sorry I'm of no help here.

I do want to stress how important it can be for those of us growing in dry climates to get out this time of year, when the sun is getting to its hottest, and find those green, moist "oasis" spots where watering is not needed.

A few spare weekend days spent looking around now can save you lots of work hauling water or storing and setting up irrigations systems.

I need to get my ass out to the hills alot this August and September, before I know it cool October will be blowing in......

That's invaluable advice for someone looking on the lookout for new spots (and what real outdoor grower isn't?)

Thanks guys!

pakalolo420- I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for those perfect spots, those places that will allow a minimum of work, and a maximum of bud.....

I took a quick trip yesterday to HM#1, the plant that was having the wilting problems, I wish I had taken a camera cuz she was looking great! She had no wilting or other stress problems at all, a matter of fact she looks like she is growing again! Yay!
Adding the 2 gallon bucket that allows slow feeding of 2 more gallons of water(on top of the 2 gallons I directly give it during the each visit) seems to have helped alot.

Nice update BC, It's good to see you utilizing the terrain so well.

I don't hang around much at this site but thought i would drop in and check your grow.

It looks like you have everything dialed in and working for you.

I left you a response to your PM at the "other site"

after reading the last twenty pages, I was wondering why you didn't use some form of water retention mixed into your soil. It seems to me it would be to your advantage between waterings.

Anyway your grows look great as always, I'm sure you'll pull enough stash to keep you smiking free until next harvest season.

good luck and stay safe

I wonder if your watering system didn't drain due to lack of pressure?

was there visible build up on your sponge?

It seems like once the water drains a bit, there would be less weight to force the remaining water. Just a thought.

Hey there Captain skunk! I don't see you sailing these waters much anymore, I miss you and Stoner over here.

I actually used alot of moisture retaining gimmicks this year, I've quoted my 2nd post of the thread where I use my first planting as a example of how most of plots are prepared this year. I've highlighted the specific moisture retaining features in red.

I decided to try something different this season, I lined the holes with plastic sheeting, cutting a hole in the bottom for drainage. The idea is to try and reduce loss of moisture and nutrition to the surrounding native soils. I tossed 4 Table spoons of Water holding crystals in the bottom of the hole, to help catch moisture leaving the hole.

OK, here is whats going in the hole:

3 gallons of llama manure, NPK 1-1-1(also to help raise organic content for moisture retention)
2 gallons of Peat moss(to help moisture retention)
2 cups(1TBS per gallon) of Kelp meal for Potassium and trace minerals
2 cups of Azomite(similar to Dolomite, interchangable) for Cal,Mag and PH buffer
2 TBS 12-8-4 Seabird guano
8 TBS of water holding crystals total

First I filled the hole 1/2 way with native soil, then I dumped the llama manure and Peat moss on it, and then mixed it well-

Next I added 4 more TBS of Water holding crystals(front white pile), my Azomite(on left), and my Kelp meal(on right)-

I continued to mix these amendments and fertilizers together, mixing in more native soil to raise the holes surface to natural ground level-

I transplanted the plant to the plot, she is a OR95x C99-
