I have stayed at the damrack hotel it is very nice and has a lift to get you to your room when you are tired. You may be able to find something a little cheaper if you look. Some of there front facing rooms can be a little noisy.

200 a night at the Damrak is a bit pricey for me but its in a good location. I spend little time in my room when in Amsterdam so all I want is my privacy at night. My room is 100 per night and has a view of Grand Central Station, 2 double beds and a large room with a nice private bathroom. The TV is kinda small but wtf? BOG

i booked an appartment at the City Hotel in the Rembrant Plein for 90 Euros a night this room sleeps two people. Theyalso have two more appartments that sleep 4 people for 180 ueros a night. that includes all fees taxes and breakfast every morning. they also have hotle rooms wth out kitchenets but i have never stayed in one of these.
