So perhaps I better arrive on the week-end? You mean the first day of the event is the 17th and that's a Sunday? Sometimes it costs more to arrive or depart on the week-end so I wonder if I should show up before the week-end or not. Anyone else gonna be there ahead of the event or after? Tough decisions. BOG

Well i will be there before thats for sure. I like to arrive on Fridays or thursday in Schipol. So will be there before the event kicks off. If BOG ain't there already i will be heading south to a vriends. See you guys there Jubei

My bad BOGgy...I'm terrible with dates unless i have a calendar in front of me....you are right, it starts Monday the 18th and ends Wednesday the 20th.

Over here you pay less for air travel if your trip includes at least a Saturday night, which means maybe you should try doing some sample bookings online including the weekend and without to see what kind of prices they come up with :wink:

I will be ariving on the 14 and staying threw the end of the 420 event. I booked an appartment in the rembrant plein today for 90 Euros. Only draw back is its on the fourth floor with no lift. It will be a sobering experience getting up to my room at the end of the day! Hope to see anyone who shows uo early!

I will be there for the week-end I think so that I can get the jump on the event. To be fair this year I am having others enter my strains as I am a breeder and this is a growers cup. Helping out with the event will be fun and if I don't enter the competition a couple guys will for me.

My plan is to promote my new book while I vacation. Hopefully one of my growers will win for BOG Seeds but it doesn't matter that much. The main thing is being in the contest and this way the glory can be shared when a breeders strain wins. The grower gets some credit as well as the breeder.

We will all check out fares but I plan to arrive on Friday the 15th-22nd. as of now. Schipol is the airport in Amsterdam Jubei mentioned and it costs about 50 euros for a cab from there to Grande Central Station so is there a cheaper bus there? BOG

Forget the cab ride for 50 Euros thats just crazy now with this crappy exchange rate.
Go downstairs and get on the train to Amstredam. Go get a ticket for about 8euros but is probably like 5 euros. Brings you right to Central Station. If you arrive early in the day walk to the VVV tourist info office accross from Central Station Outside. Get a Public transportation pass for 3 days which i used for 10 days last year so should last a week. That way of travel is a pain in the arse if you are carrying abunch of stuff will save you alot of money with the exchange so poor. GOod Luck Jubei

Many hotels have a shuttle service from Schiphol BOG...I know the Singel does, and its a small hotel, so maybe you should inquire where you made your reservations. In alternative Bus N° 370 (interliner) goes to the city center from Schiphol, or you can take the train (station's directly below the airport :wink

What i like to do is go to the VVV in the airport and get my train and tram pass at the same time. There is a VVV in the airport, on the platform in Central Station and in front of cental station big white building just to name a few. They are a great source for late booking on hotelrooms along with booking many other trips.

Hey BOG..forget the taxi...Train is the way to go from the Airport (3 euros)then hop a tram or taxi to yer hotel from central station...tram will cost a couple of bucks a taxi as much as 10 or 15 euro from the station but that beats the 50 euro from the airport....

I think I am getting there on fri before the event....

This Oger is definately headed over for some fun. BOG are you going to be there the weekend before or after, or probably both. I am trying to find a travelling companion, as I too want to take in a lot of the culture.

OK, I knew there were other ways so I guess I will have to find the train if that goes from the airport straight to Grand Central Station. My hotel will be in walking distance from the station. The Singel has pick up and delivery to the airport? That little place? Hmmm.

I think I will be there the weekend before the event and be back home by the following weekend unless a side trip comes up. BOG

the train station is under the airport, just follow the signs. the train is easier to find than the taxis.

using taxis in Amsterdam is a collosal waste of €€€.
taxi drivers and their cars.
