I bet an oz (28 grams) will do it and BlueVelvet, we should put you in charge of the culture tours and I will still escort you because I tend to hang with the stoner crowd. There isn't enough time so we really need to plan early outings for the cultural shit. It won't be hard to get enough good pics to satisfy families. We can buy some souveniers and post cards of the place as well. Maybe we will need a week. :) BOG

Since it is Tulip time in Amsterdam at that time of year, Someone should set up a stoner bus ride (pot smokers only) to go to Keukenhof ... They have flowers of all kinds and a fun maze to go through and a tower that overlooks the fields.

A short trip to Haarlem to Willie Wortel(sp?), 15 minutes by train from central I think. Last year there were festivals in each town thay we visited and in 'Dam Square also.

There is also Volendam which is an old fishing village that you can take a boat ride to another island and then a bus back to A'Dam. Tight ass little village that these bus drivers amazed me in their driving abilities

I have been doing some A'Dam culture research and found these to be interesting:

NEMO - Science and Technology Center
Oosterdok 2
The NEMO science and technology center is housed in a striking verdigris building facing the historic port of Amsterdam, and appropriately the building designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano bears resemblance to a 17th century ship. NEMO focuses on the relationship between science, technology and art as manifestations of human creativity. This is done in the form of interactive exhibits, demonstrations and performances. The roof terrace of NEMO is accessible to visitors and non-visitors alike, and has a breathtaking view of Amsterdam city

Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum
Oudezijds Achterburgwal 148
Of course Amsterdam has a museum dedicated to the use of cannabis, be it for pleasure, as a medicine or for making textiles and paper from the hemp plant. It illustrates the role of cannabis in history, there's a garden with hemp plants, the process of making hash and marihuana is explained, and attention is paid to the various rolling and smoking methods. There's a 'head shop' next door which sells various smoking and growing paraphernalia.

Artis Zoologisch Museum
Plantage Kerklaan 40 (523 34 00).
The oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838. Great for kids of course, with a wide variety of animals, and different terraces with adjacent playgrounds. Besides the zoo there's a planetarium, a children's farm and an aquarium.
*I don't know 'bout y'all but a visit to the planetarium stoned sounds mighty fun to me

Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art
Oosterdokskade 3-5
The Stedelijk Musuem in city center closed on Jan 1st 2004, due to expansion and renovation, and has moved to a temporary location: the former building of The Post Group at Oosterdokskade, near Central Station, and opposite the Maritime Museum and the NEMO science museum. The renovation work is expected to be completed during 2006.
The Stedelijk Museum houses one of the major collections of modern art in the Netherlands. The permanent exhibition focuses on De Stijl, Cobra, Nouveau Realisme, Pop Art, Colorfield Painting and Zero and Minimal Art. A few of the more famous exponents of these styles: Picasso, Dutch painters Karel Appel, Willem de Kooning, Piet Mondriaan and French painters Monet, Cezanne, Matisse, Chagall and Renoir. The museum also house a large collection of paintings by Malewich. The temporary exhibitions focus on design and applied art.

Het Kwaad, All about Evil -An Exhibition at the Tropical Museum
(Linnauesstraat 2)

A colourful visual spectacle about the eternal struggle of humanity with Evil, an ever returning theme of all times and cultures. The exhibition leads the visitor from the downfall of the angels to the extraterrestrial monsters of Star Wars and Alien, along witches like Eucalypta and Balinese Rangda, from Kali and Eshu to Bush and Bin Laden.

Not to mention various monuments, churches, etc which can be visited just strolling around, without having to program anything in particular.
I also intend to go SHOPPING :D...souvenirs, T-shirts,worthless shit and all that fun stuff...might even buy something serious if anything catches my eye

I am considering a trip to Spain after Amsterdam but only if Gypsy will let me drive his Jag there. He can come along of course. :D I wanted to meet Jorge Cervantes there but who knows what will happen.

We need to decide when I should arrive so I can buy my plane tickets soon. What are the days of the actual event again? April 18-20? I could easily plan to arrive on the 17th if that's correct. BOG

So my advice for planning.....as long as you are in Amsterdam from Monday-Wednesday you'll not miss a thing! Arriving earlier or staying later is all up to you and highly recommended!

BOG, the quote comes straight from Dutch's post on the first page of the thread...so the actual event should begin Monday the 17th through Wednesday the 20th. I planned on arriving the 18th and leaving the 21st , I'd stay a whole week if I could, but duty calls
