Dam - read through my update and totally missed ya there 2buds! Sorry bro. :bat:
Gotta agree with everything I see on the trainwreck - wicked shit, for sure - have never seen a plant pop out the trichs like this bitch does, all the way down to the base of the stem. Top shelf smoke, too, but may be too intense for casual company unless they're prepared to crash in the guest room. Makes great med for migraines and the back spasms - they may still be there but you don't know it. A very good evening bowl for relaxing with the missus and unwinding enough to get some sleep.

No need for jealousy around here, bro - pack for a roadtrip and meet us at the 2006 Great Lakes Growers' Association Mini-Cup. We'll be finallizing a time and location at the Growers' Cup in the Dam, once a list of participants is finalized we'll party at a stoner-friendly central location for everyone. Check out the 2005 Mini-Cup at Cedar Point thread in the Announcements forum, it was a blast and always great to meet friends you talk to online every day and share our goodies.

See ya in chat! :woohoo:

Beautiful grow 1Toke! I am so impressed with the frostiness of the train wreck. Even on the stems! That is making me jealous. I have looked for TW seeds, but haven't been able to locate any. Any Ideas? Do you think it would fit in my 23x19x40" cab? It seems like it would be a bit lanky for my grow space, ya think?

At any rate, great grow, and I'm happy you didn't let the flamers get the last word!
 Hey SuperSnail, good to see ya bro. Sorry, the Wreck is clone only, no seeds available unless somone makes their own cross with another strain, a few have done it with excellent results.

Being mostly sativa the trainwreck does stretch. And with the Thai it tends to be a creeping vine type of plant. Trick is to clone and grow them small to harvest a nice cola once in a while, I guess. I've got half a dozen clones rooted at different times so the harvests will be staggered, I'm hoping I can harvest a choice nug of all my strains every 2 weeks, one week is my goal. The Trainwreck ain't that big a yeilder, lot of popcorn nugs -so for limited room a currently available Indica would probably be the best bet. I love the sativas and have grown them out mostly, the indicas are new for me and gifted from great friends.

Bottom line I guess would be if you cloned a mom and kept the plants small you could have a nice Wreck harvest often enough. Not a commercially viable plant by any means. A small amount goes a long way, we normally hit 4 tokes on the pipe before bed, any more and you're too far gone. The taste is addicting and the stone is great if you don't have to get out and do anything, I wouldn't even attempt to drive - it's hard enough to walk! :woohoo:

Well, 5 grows of Neville's and haven't had to buy any since 2000, have made many lifetime friends while doing it, and have been able to harvest sample strains like Trainwreck, Sage, Sweet Tooth #3, Sweet Sage, Johnny Blaze, and soon to come PimpSlap, Candy Kush, BluGhani, Schrom, ECSD and Killer Queen from all over the country for my wife and I. Not to mention a strain-rotating perpetual harvest twice a month, and the chance to gift others all those strains in my area. To some that might be so-so, to me it means the world to be able meet so many friends, and learn to grow our small supply of outstanding meds while sharing and enjoying quality genetics and smoke.

If that's your goal, you will no doubt do well, if your goal is to harvest tons and make a fortune you are doomed to fail by your greed. Most don't reach that stage until they've got a hundred or so grows under their belt, or sooner if they can screw their grow partner and everyone they know and run with the money. How well you do depends a lot on where your heart is IMO.

Good luck on your first grow, a lot of friends have had remarkable success their first grow. But not many have grown out Neville's Haze and don't have the patience for Thai. Today's genetics are bred to improve your results in the shortest time, and many are disease tolerant and hardy. Your results should be far better than mine, I've had to grow scraping pennies and building my own equipment to save money, improving as I go. If you have the cash to buy into quality equipment before you start your results should be a lot better, depending on how well you use it. I've seen great grows with 2-10 1000 watters and super vortex fans and filters. And some are lucky to start with a $300 EZ Cloner and all the nutes formulated for mj growing, some of us have to make do with what we have until we can upgrade and hope for the best. But with a little help from friends, it's all good.

Some so-so results:

Did you ever find out what to do with yer bongwater???   :Bolt: :smoweed:

 Heya Mr. GreenJeans - good to see ya. Thanks, still learnin the camera under light conditions I guess. I try not to put repititious or questionable quality pics. Once in a while a new user will question so many that appear close and I have to explain a grow journal should show daily conditions, if someone is wondering how it should look at 3rd week or whatever they can see the pic for that time period. At least in theory! :pointlaug

Yeah, so-so results I guess compared to a huge light setup and all the equipment money can buy. Gotta keep remindin them that this is the DIY Dumpster-Divin Do-hickey grow - 1Tokes' a cheap bastage. :woohoo:

If yer lookin fer donkey colas and 40 pound commercial yeilds yer definitely in the wrong thread. :biglaugh:

Heya HH, good to see ya drop by bro - never a prob with them comin out killer, when friends gift ya with the genetics it's all killer - just some yeilds are better than others. We have to understand that when you get clones and they are already in flower - they are usually tiny. Then it takes time to reveg just to get cuts to pass on and continue the strain, then we get to flower out the original tiny clone to sample the smoke. Hopefully her cuts produce well without the stress she went through - for instance this wreck in flower was a tiny 6-inch top in flower, took almost 2 months to reveg, then once she vegged enough to get cuts she was let into flower again. She may give tiny buds but her cuts should give some nice smoke stash. We've had the pleasure of sampling the sage, sweet tooth #3, trainwreck and Killer Queen through the generosity and kindness of good IC friends.
:friends: :friends: :friends: :respect: :respect:

Heya Jay - thank you , bro for the kind words. I'd like to think that I'm a cool dude but then I'd get reminded I'm just an old fart.

Thanks and much :respect: :respect: :respect: to everyone stoppin by. See ya in chat. :woohoo:

 Evening all.

Got the day off work and had time to tinker in the grow, also got update pics for the Sweet Tooth #3 and Sage at 42 days, and the Mini-cup trainwreck at 32 days. I'll get the camera unloaded and get some of the planted clones, all are doing well - the hold out Killer Queen still hasn't rooted so I recut and scarified, and changed the cloner - stubborn cut but looks like a nub starting at a node. The other one is rooted and planted so not too worried, just have to wait for it to grow a little bigger to get cuts off her. On to the pics, first trich shots of each, then the Sage, starting to frost now and nugs are tightening up and filling in at 42 days:

Notice the leaf serations curling and the dark coloring on the leaves, I had to flush that huge tub, took her out of the closet, drilled holes in the tub and set it in the shower to run PH 7 tapwater through for a couple of hours. Hope I got it rinsed well enough, the flush worked well on the SWT, just have to watch the new growth for signs of trouble.

hey 1toke...im blown away...this is what ive been lookin for..
Im plannin on doin a similar setup usin a glass plate to separate the hps from the plants, thus keepin most of the heat in the upper (exhausted) section. I noticed that u raise the light, but also lowers the shelf with the the plants...im wondering if u have any particular way of moving the shelf downwards without removin all the plants, lower the shelf and then put the plants back in? Id like to mount my light/glass permanently, but i still havent found a clever way to lower my plants as they grow..

Yeah, I pretty much man handle the plants out, lower the shelf, and put the plants back in. I toyed with an idea of a motor and track system, or block & tackle like system, but I still haven't got my two 1000 watters installed much less any additional projects.

The original design evolved into a permanent shelf above the door, cut out to accept plate glass and the light and ballast on the shelf. The corners of the shelf are also cut out on angles to allow for airflow, I had to tinker with sizes until I got it dialed in just right. With the 1000 watter on the shelf and its' ballast in the attic above, that closet stays glued to 74 degrees - lights on or off, so it really helps to have ventilation fans with digital temp controls.

This design worked fine for a plant ot two in the beginning, but eventually had to be dedicated a flower closet and used when the vegged plants reach a certain height to match the shelf height, etc. I built two more cabinets slightly larger (2x4x7) out of warehouse steel shelving, and now use one of those for hdyro in the bottom half, and vegg area in the top half - the cabinet ceiling is solid floros of different spectrums. Another cabinet is another dedicated flower unit for trees that get out of control like Thai or Haze, I have more height when they sit directly on the floor. Then another smaller cabinet got promoted from a computer printer cabinet to Propogation Cabinet. This way I can have any combination of cabinets on different lighting timers and schemes.

Your working design wouldn't have to be that elaborate, I started with the closet outfitted from junk and added on when I could to support the 8 strains I'm now workin with, and 3 tester strains. For one strain or one at a time the original closet would work fine. And, if you work with short indicas height would cease to be a problem.

Question away when ya get them - we're always around to answer if we can, and others willing to take it further if we can't. See ya in chat! :woohoo:

Nice nugs bac! Looks like I'm about 2 weeks behind ya then...think the Sage cabinet is 44 days or so now. :woohoo:

^^^^^Yesterday^^^^^^^

And last week:

Had a nute prob with that big tub and pulled them out of the closet, drilled the tub and flushed for a couple hours in the shower, hope they pick back up - the new growth appears to be returning to normal. Thinkin I'm gonna stick with those pots like yours - about gal pots, 8-10". Easier to move around and take care of when things go wrong.

Anyway, lookin great Bac! BTW, the Killer Queen last week:

Still have the last KQ in the cloner, stubborn bitch, all the rest of the gifteds have rooted and been planted in beer cups and veggin nicely. We'll pull cuts for ya soon Bro! Just give me the word when ya want to add them.

Thanks for the heads-up bro! See ya in chat.
:woohoo:
