In the group pics the snowryder is 12 inches exactly and to the left, the onyx 1 is touching 13.5 inches and the onyx 2 is 11 inches. Snowryder has passed onyx2. The bud pics are the snowryder as she seems to be slightly further along.
I'm counting about 7 nodes with 2 branches each on all 3, each branch has multiple bud sites all the way up them to the top ending in fluffy bud porn The main colas have not shot upwards yet, so their all still pretty even heights.
doing good mate, i'm back at work full time since my backs eased up so not had much time to play n take photo's.
It's day 42 for them so 6 weeks in, 2-4 to go. Just took some pics the now, i'll upload after this. Its the first i've spaced them out and had a good look in a week or more. I'm more than happy with the development so far and i've only been feeding them plant magic grow at first and PM bloom nutes now. Ordered the PMsilicon with more PM soil. I love this soil. I know yer into hydro but if ye ever go back to a soil system try this plant magic soil. it's just perfect imho
The 3 lassies are all pretty similar in shape and form. dunno if its just me but i am getting a slight smell of aniseed which is quite subliminal and took me ages to work out what the smell reminded me of but its coming from all 3.
The Snowryder is maybe the best developed and stands about 13 inches tall give or take a bawhair or two. The main cola is showing the buds forming in a spaced out spiral shape i am expecting to fill in and thicken https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=21540&pictureid=473847
The two onyx are 15 and 17 inches tall. Slightly more branching than the Snowryder and the main colas aren't as developed yet but still filling out.
I've uploading the pics but i wont embed them all, stuck em in an album, click the pic below and it should take you there(click next on top right of each to move on to next one). Each one is named thanks to batch conversion ifranview. I'll add a couple of the setup as it stands now. Gives the idea of the perpetual in effect.
Not that strong, in the room there is a faint whiff but the filter completely removes all smell, even with the door wide open all air drifts into the room and filtered to get a good whiff ye need to cup the buds in yer hands to sniff to get a decent idea of the aroma.
At this point i would say the overall smell is cross between young tomato plants, a hint of aniseed balls and a pile of washed clothes thats been left sitting wet too long. There is also a slight sweetness to the aftersmell i havent worked out yet, kinda like a milky cinnamon smell, musky but sweet.
btw anyone who tells ye cfl's cant burn leaves is a f'n lier lol. i have been keeping the lights 2-3 inches away and not worrying too much about them getting closer. its not quite a burn as such they just seem to turn the part they are touching a soft dark brown but still moist. after a day or 2 obviously the spots darken and crisp up
I've also got a little nute burn on some leaves but nothing too bad, no pattern to it at all. i can feed them and they wont show a thing, then a couple of days later i water and the burns appear almost instantly. nothing massive but mostly yellow circles or edges about 5-10 mills in size.
I've ordered some more femmed snowryders and femmed diesel ryders. once the little ones in the pics sex (not femmed) i am sure i will get a few male diesel ryders, so looks like i am going for 2 crosses, a branch of dr+onyx. 1 of dr+snowryder and i'll also pollinate 1 full DR.
Almost forgot to mention about the bagseed i had planted that i thought were lowryder 2's, well it turns out that the beans i was given were a mix of 2 vars, g13 and lr2's. the 2 i sprouted turned out both to be g13's so they got the chop the other night, was a pity as they were 4 weeks into veg and already both were 18 inches tall and bushier than the 6 week onyx. so i dunno what to do with the rest, i dont want to do anything other than auto's and i dont wanna have to put my auto's on a 12/12. from all the grows i've read the optimal for auto's is an 24/0 20/4 or an 18/6 with more yield from the 20/4's than the other 2 and anyone doing the 12/12 has suffered bad yields from it. I opted for the 20/4. If anyone knows different please enlighten me
Had to post a wee update on little miss snowryder, at the end of day 44/ start 45 she is starting to show the first signs of being able to get me stoned
A few hairs are turning orange and the if you look closely enough you can see the beginings of snow on her leaves....
Spotted what i think is my first male in the grow from one of the reg DR's so its up in the bathroom window to see if i am right and if so i'll be collecting that pollen for some selective hanky panky on some branches.
Collected the beans i ordered from the post office today, was looking forward to opening the pack as i had asked the seedbank if the could give me something different from the usual free gift seeds. So on opening the package out popped the 5 fem DieselRyders's and 5 fem SnowRyders that i had paid for and also 4 free Blue Himalayan
I'll pop a BH and SR for the next 2 after the last two reg dr's sprout.
i've changed my germination method. I was doing the paper towel way but after reading another thread from an auto breeder i've changed to his method of planting directly into pm soil well mixed perlite/verm and clay pebbles to avoid over watering and keeping at 85 degree F (with radiant heat from the lights) and keeping the top moist with a spray bottle (which keeps the soil sticking to the seed.. So far I've had 4 outa 4 sprout after 3-4 days which is quicker than paper towel and transferring to soil.
I am now germinating them in the pot/soil they will finish in, i only 3/4 fill the pot to begin with to allow a little stretch then once they are good and strong i top it up occasionally with a good mix of PM compost until it gets to the lowest leaves. I've now got some bat guano and worm castings to mix in too/ make tea.
The reasoning behind the germ method is that it is more natural, seeds that can't germ and break ground naturally will have poorer genetics than 1 that can. It gets fresh oxygen/moister directly to the root as soon as it sprouts and since its same pots from start to finish there is zero transplant shock to slow things down.
Ladies are looking great mate, you are doing a hell of a job for the first grow..
I do finish myself 4 Roadrunner from Dinafem, but I overnuted them in early stages and did not grow proper leaves..yours instead are very bushy and healthy..
Thanks man. First grow but I did a lot of research over the years knowing that sooner or later she was gonna agree to a grow due to the price of weed we're both daily tokers and can do 1oz per week when we're both working that week. 2 ounce if we're on hols/working from home. It's fine when ye can buy 50 quid ounces of hash but when theres no hash and ye need to pay £10 a gram for green it gets ridiculous.
A mate of mine has a coupla roadrunners going, he's 9 weeks in and flushing atm. his look like mini christmas trees and he rates it as the most satisfying grow he has had yet!
Since i am using a light soil mix and i had read that auto's dont really require much nutes at the beginning so i laid off feeding any. They get some PM silicon which isnt a nute, more a protection additive, then just 1 half strength feed of veg nutes between 2-3 weeks then just 1 full strength feed of bloom nutes per week 1 plain watering(silicon) per week and 1 bat guano/worm cast tea per week. I need to be watering every 2 days as i mix a lot of perlite n vermi into the compost so i don't over water the seedlings. i get a tiny bit of nute burn but most damage is done by the plants growing into the cfl's, the fans and leaves caught between pots.
I've only got a magnifying glass thats not very strong, i can make the trichs out with it but not good enough to capture on camera
Onyx #1 is 17" tall and #2 is 16" both about 14" wide, both top colas are about 4" long and fattening up. each have between 4 and 8 decent sized branches with nice flowers on top but no real sign of trichs yet. Got some lower fan leaves yellowing and falling off but it looks natural. as in used up leaves not killed off leaves.
They were really dry tonight before i watered them, only 2 days since last one. Might have to bring it down to a day and a half between waters. hate getting up early :s
I'll post some pics after i make Mrs R her dinner.
i dont grow in soil but if she is sucking up water quicker than she was then she is looking to grow and expand, you using any bloom boosts on her to make her expand??
