Thanks man. I'd like to see the inside of your controller (like where the floats are and stuff) and then maybe a close up pic of how your lines are attached to the bucket itself (grommets or bulkheads w/ gaskets or what).
I'm gonna be doing a 40 to 65 4 gallon buckets system and was curious as to how much hydroton I would need (only gonna fill it to maybe 3 gal). I'm still trying to figure out how much water / how big of a res I need for 65 buckets. I was freaked at my first calculations but soon realized that those grow rocks will displace alot of water so I won't need nearly as much as I first thought.
Was first gonna go with DWC setup but I don't have the $$$ for chillers, large air pumps and extra R/O system. Saw your setup and totally revamped my plan (AGAIN).

@ Stealthy - there is a how to for the controller bucket over at h g 420 in the DIY section called the Kryptos Controller etc - you got to use the four floats though...

I find that DWC water is around 75% of your total volume of the containers.
The clay is usually about 1/6 less than the container size.

I filled up each bucket and then just ran the shower on the bucket for a few minutes until the bucket didnt have any dirty ass water coming out anymore .. it was a long process ... took a couple hours i think .. im trying to figure out a new way for sure :)

i like to poke holes in the bottom of the bag with a screwdriver, then open the top & rinse with a water hose in the bag until the run-off is clear. then let sit for a couple of minutes to drain fully... while not perfect, it works good enuff for ebb & flow. for 7 bags this method would save some headaches..

it might work, but its really the trickle down effect over a coupe of minutes that really gets deep in the bag... its worth a try tho!

how far from the bucket do you put your trellis? im gonna run some trellis for the first time and im trying to figure out more or less where to set it at.. as they come up you pull them down through the next opening like a regular SCROG correct? any advice or input will be helpful, thanks :joint:

gott it, have you ever pondered using a trellis with smaller openings so that you could control the different branches to an even greater degree and keep them from crowding each other?

I currently grow in a small 3 by 3 hydro hut so it's feasible. I don't know that you could do too much of this on such a large scale grow. Anyhow, ever consider or think of somthing like this?

Also, have you ever considered using light movers to hit the plants from different angles and use less lights? I don't mean to cut down the lights too drastically, maybe one row out of 5.

Anyway, awesome grow.

this is my first time using this system so basically this is like a test run in like sooooooo many different ways .. ive learned alot over the past 6 weeks.. this trellis was basically just used to hold the plants up so the y dont fall over .. cuz without they would definately break and fall over .. ya i thought about light movers just never tried them ..

what are some of the things that you'll try next time? It looks like it was a success! Keep us posted on the yield!
