I took mine apart and remote ballasted it so I could mount it correctly in my cab. It wouldnt fit as a whole unit so I had to cannabalize and I am glad I did it is much better off this way!

Hiya crew!

I just had to share an image of the last bud I have to my name and to say that hopefully I can fire up the 150w again soon because my mental health is improving.

I wish I could be around more and I miss viewing everyone's beautiful plants. Best wishes to everyone and their gardens.

Hey everyone!! Thanks and once this grow is over, I'll get someone to help me take the HPS apart..I don't want to mess with anything..I can set fire to a rock if I tried hard enough...
what do you mean by rotating the HPS 90 degrees?? I'm a noob...lol...I'm willing to try anything to make this cab as best as it can be..
thanks again

He means instead of the bulb pointing lengthwise in the cab having it centered and perpendicular to the long side of the cab sort of like a T kinda hard to explain but so that the light shines out the side of the bulb towards the furthest sides of the cab because not much light comes out of the tip of base areas of the bulb compared to what comes directly out of the sides of the arc tube. It will help get better light coverage and essentially better yeild. Definitely easy to do and worth the time. I would be willing to help you if you have questions about it at all I will help as best as I can since I have remote ballasted several lights and it is what I consider an easy process plus I have done it on the Sun Systems 150 as well so that is an exact model I have done it on. Its really not too hard to do but you might not want to do it during the middle of your grow if you are not confident enough to get the job done in one day or a couple hours so as to not effect your plants negatively.

Your bulb element is parallel with the cab width. If it were parallel with the depth you'd get better light distribution.

The hood you have is prolly too long for the depth of the dresser.

You could extract the inner workings of the lamp from the hood but that's your call. IMO, your T5s help brighten the periphery better than a single, hps bulb. Quite a few growers face this setup and choose to leave their hood intact.

A bare bulb might run a little cooler than a hood, especially with one fan blowing on the bulb or between the bulb and canopy. But chopping down a hood that nice has it's obvious drawbacks. One could save the hood and use it later...:artist:

i've still got just of 5 weeks to go and if all of the 75 bud sites average a quarter of an ounce in weight i will be looking at around 5 ounces dry. I am using a 150w hps and 2 x 24w flouros now for side lighting and growing in soil.

Well, as it should be, lots of folks here are trying new stuff and getting great results. Pictures are looking excellent and its especially nice to see a whole bunch of newer crew members.

As for me, I guess I'll jump in the fray and try something new. Well new to me that is, lots of folks have been doing it for years with great results. I'm planning a cycle of 12/12 from seed. Should be easy and fun in my existing cabinet with the added advantage of less stress on my tired back and legs. Plants will be smaller, lighter, and much more compact; water changes will be less frequent; and nutes, training, and trimming should be a breeze. Heck, I'm getting excited just talking about it!

I used to produce my own feminized seeds but haven't done so in a good few years. As such, my search for good genetics now begins. I'd like to stick with feminized stock to keep things simple, but if I can't locate something appropriate and reasonably priced I'll just pop a handful of mixed sex and strains and then cull to 6 females once they show.

Once things get going I'll throw up some progress reports. As for now, its time to get one of my sons to give me a hand cutting down my small outdoor September harvest (one plant) and hanging it to dry.

Regards to all and if you're in my latitude enjoy these cooler late summer/early fall days.

Hey pipe dream, I'm sure your new plans will work out great.

I was wondering if you could create a tutorial thread on how to produce feminized seeds?

Thanks.

Short tutorial: you need at least 2 fem plants (from seed or clone your choice). One is grown normally, and another one is forced to become a hermy (by messing up its light cycle for example). Than you use hermy pollen on your female.
There are other ways too, like allways.

looking great gforce!! 5 o's would be a nice haul for sure...getting an ounce in my pc was nice!!
take care

Great pics and conversations guys I've been lurking about and as I've said before I'm not currently growing but I'm planning my next build/setup. Again I still plan on it having 3 150w lamps running; a MH and an HPS running in the flower section and a MH running in the veg/clone/seed section. Each section will have equal dimensions of 16" D x 24" W x 32" H. Both will be housed in one cabinet setup. I have a single 6" 435CFM inline fan in mind for an exhaust that would be connected to both sections. I would appreciate any shared thoughts on this idea, again when I get a chance to post pictures of this cab (from a previous build/setup) I will promptly post them for any aid in well aiding me. My concerns are over heat build-up with 3 lamps running and keeping ventilation smooth and well flowing while light blocking both sections from each other. Together the sections or the entire cab setup would total about 17-18 cubic feet which should be easy altho it needs air vented from two light blocked sections and be carbon filtered for odor. Happy and safe growing all!
