What are you talking about Disco? Not being very nice? Where do you get that from?
Hey look, a yield is going to give up about 17% or so of the initial trimmed weight in final bagged buds. This can be strain dependent, but if buds are taken from the stems, we usually see around 15% of the original trimmed wet weight in bud only material.
Perhaps you have information to the contrary. And what I provided was some reality. Do the math using 91.6 grams and show me the mean.
:dunno:

As far as what I have trouble with, lol.. what ever could you possibly mean by that rude statement? Have I shown that I lack prowess to harvest substantial yields? What evidence could you possibly be basing your statement on?
I suggest you get over your bruised ego.
FYI, I just got through harvesting a half a pound..right at 230 grams, of dried and jarred bud that was grown in a 19" x 23" space. I have no troubles with yields. Never have.
lol...
OK, here let me give you something to throw darts at, since you seem to need it...
I decided to go ahead and harvest the 150 box scrog at 8 wks.
I pulled the screen off and this is what was left.
Sorry, I did not weigh the wet trimmed buds, but I will weigh the buds dry so you can compare to how much more your little scrog produced.

But, I assure you, Jr, that if I am going for yield I will have no problems at all. I never do. I have been growing pot since the 1970's, Jr. and I think I have gained a skill or two.
Or maybe my galleries don't impress someone such as yourself?

Please folks...spare me the PM's about how rude I am. I am merely defending my honor here. I don't take kindly to personal attacks out of the blue. And I have NEVER attacked anyone else's grow without them throwing the first stone. I don't operate like that.

I have approximately 12-13 weeks to complete the grow.

This is just what I would do, let's hear other viewpoints.

Space is limited and so is time? Pop them (all of them) rapid rooters, rockwool starters whatever. Veg for 1 week under Hps (far away) Cfl (close). 2 weeks would be better.
Transplant to 2l pop bottles, give the roots 3 days to get a foothold, then start 12/12. You'll have the males out in 30 days and still have time to gently tie them down. If it wasn't for the time factor I'd say scrog . Are they regular seeds or fem'd?

Thanks for the reply. I have from the start of September to the 1st week of December before I have to chop the buds. I used rapid rooters for my last grow and they dried out way too fast because I didn't use a seed insert tray. As for the seeds, I'll be using CH9 Jack Feminized. As I mentioned before, I am not going to attempt scrog this time around. So if I start lst when I switch to flower, I can come out with 4 or more budsites?

Planned on putting the HPS around 12-15" above to start and the CFL 5-6" above 16oz beer cups which I will use for the first 2-3 weeks. When they have an established root system, I will transplant them to their final home.

Well in HD's defense .. he did use a smiley face at top of his post. I just took it as an honest opinion on what he saw from pics and lighthearted sarcasm with the de-stem weight. I wasn't offended at all. After all this is the interwebz, in real life you'd have to be in my face for me to get offended.

Maybe I should of put in post that the wet weight was DE-STEMMED as I'm drying buds on a old window screen on a rack as I took pics just after trimming leaf. :)

By the way, nice bud pics HD. I like looking at everything and anything.

It's fathers day, happy fathers day to all you dads out there.

Well guys, got the heat problem solved. Turns out I just needed more passive intake...drilled another 4" hole beside the first one and temps dropped down to 80. That is just with the one 105cfm PC fan exhausting. Think I may end up using the other one to point right at the bulb so I can get the plants real close. Props to hoosierdaddy & pipedream, wish I could figure out how to + rep you guys. Will be germinating seeds this week. :smokeit:

On another note, can anyone recommend a decent PH meter that doesnt cost a ton? Maybe somethin from lowes/wal-mart? I guess I'll need one that tests water and soil(right?).

Thanks 150 crew

How come DB's the only one that gets to guess? It's kind a hard to tell, but I'd be suprised to hear that you got more than 3/4 zip dried there. But I agree w/your comment earlier HD, what's weight anyway. Numbers to throw around. Everyone here will agree that when it comes to 150's, it's all about getting as much bud as possible w/in that "golden globe" LOL. Your scrog, like many other grows here show are great examples of that :jump: Looks like some dank smoke too :joint: Enjoy!
I agree w/the rest of that post HD, and I'm sorry you had to go off the handle like that to defend yourself. I try to give a lot of grace around here knowing that at least 1/2 the peeps here are as stoned as I am 1/2 the time LOL, but taking jabs to your person in public does get old.
Everyone would do well to remember what my Daddy tried to pound into my head. "If ya aint got nothin nice to say, keep your damn mouth shut!" Stay safe everyone. Be nice to each other for crying out loud! This is supposed to be a fun place to come. What's fun about listening to total strangers bickering? Stay safe, n :smoweed:

Hey guys, quick question for you's... Im currently building a new, better box. In the process I've picked up so femmed Cheese seeds from GHS, and decided to start them under a 150 hps for veg in my old armoir I used to grow in. Temps and RH are good, I have'nt fed them yet but they are in 1 gal coco/worm castings, seedling mix, perlite, lime... but growth seems to be slower than when I vegged even with 100w cfl. Im thinking this may be then strain and it might just blow up here any minuite but one can never be too sure. Im relatively new to indoor growing, and would like any feed back about vegging hps vs cfl's. I know cfl's in the higher coulor temp range ( 4100k-6500k) promote stocky plants with strong vigorus root systems but I already had the 150 hps set up so I gave it a whirl. No pics yet.

How old is your bulb? Can you get supplemental cfl's up close and rude?

Had I actually planned on doing a scrog, and was looking to get as much as possible, I could have continued veg until the screen was fuller and the buds could have protruded a bit more through the screen before I put them into flower. That would have allowed the buds to fill more space and yield more. But, this plant was actually an extra fem I had no room for in the cab, so it got the 150 box at the last minute and there was no veg time given at all, just placed directly into flower with a screen over top.

Dried, manicured, and in the jar that plant produced 32 grams of bud.
The cultivar is a "Sour Bubblegum" (bogbubbleS1 x sbbx4) from Grapevine. A candy bubblegum-ish aroma, smooth but strong smoke, and a very heavy high.

Heat 2

Heat 2

Since it slow in here, heres my rant....

Well it seems my heat problem isnt completely fixed. Was really hot here today and the best I could keep it was about 96 in there with AC on in the main room and one fan exhausting and one on the bulb. Just put the first seed to pop
in there in the soil too. :wallbash:

Guess I will have to use my other fan for exhaust like you guys said. Have to get a new 4" hole saw though since mine is shot. Hell of a difference between today and the 80 it was holding at the other day.

Damnit.

Stupid question...I am supposed to be measuring the temp right under the light where the plants will be right? Thats where I have my thermometer at when I read 100, above that is like 85.

Dont have a digital camera. Guess I could try to find a usb cord for my phone so I could take some pics with that but the pics it takes arent all that great anyway...

Really weird though man, everything is the same from the other day when I had it at 80 in there with this same setup. Still 75 in the room the closet/cab is in, etc. It shouldnt matter what the temp outside is as long as its 75 in my house. I have learned my lesson though..if I can somehow manage to get a harvest out of this little cabinet I ghetto rigged up, next time I will be getting a big ass inline fan to go along with a 2x2 tent when I get the extra cash. Maybe I'm just trying to use a cab thats too small to even be practical??9 1/2"x22"

Don't worry about the pic(s) if it's a pain. Sometimes there's something in the hardware arrangement that impedes air flow.

The 9.5" dimension is a little small but can probably be done. You'll get best coverage with least hot spot if the bulb element is parallel with the 9.5" walls. I was going to suggest a blower or inline fan but you're wise to consider the tent first. A 2x2 would make a great vertical setup with the 150 alone. 2x2 is a little bigger than a 150 is suited for (in a horizontal setup.) Supplemental lighting or even plant training can take care of that.

Is your lamp a remote-ballast type? Does it have a hood or reflector? Sometimes a bare-bulb setup is easiest to cool.

Hey Disco, yea its a security light I converted to remote ballast. Not the kind you hang on a pole in your yard. It was like this http://www.e-conolight.com/floods/small/small-hid/e-hc2h151z.html before I started. I used the little 8x8" reflector that came with it. I was cosidering taking the reflector off and just hanging the naked bulb/socket. Think that would help?

Hang the bulb vertically you say? Hmm mght have to give that a try. There does seem to be some type if hot spot under the bulb/reflector. The therometer says 100+ right under there but I can hold my hand rght by the top of the pot/soil and cant notce a difference in temps.

About the tent, my plan was to get a digtal 250 for the 2x2(Secret Jardin DR60) but maybe I should stick with the 150 since apparently HPS are such a bitch to cool.

Sorry for the long rambling post guys, I consider myself to be pretty hands on/DIYish and its really starting to piss me off I cant get this figured. Just have to keep workin at it...
