LEDGirl!!>>no, not yet...i will post a bone dry weight so i don't draw any unneeded bullshit...
intel2000!!>>yeah, that sounds about right...i'll double check my flowering dates later...i did have some issues. there was a steep learning curve for me.:tiphat: thanks for the post!
beats6789!!>.thank you...considering i expected not much, i am impressed...
B. Self Reliant!!>> i will do that. after drying, they will go into jars for a nice long cure.

2 oz and between 7 - 11 grams.

So 2 & quarter OZ's is my guess by the picture and estimating the shrink.

Edit:
Thats if you remove the rest of the leaf.
If you leave the leaf on 2 oz and 3 quarters would be my guess

dried leaves wont weigh shit compared to the stems, and you guys are way off, 1 1/4 oz.Sorry bout the BS posts again sleepy dont know why but had to put in my guess.I should know better..

the final weigh-in...with pictures!

the final weigh-in...with pictures!

this test is finished...

ok...here we go.

i trim nice and tight...

so i got 2.4 ounces of dry buds...or 67 grams...

the object of this test was:

from my opening post in this thread (yes i left the typos):

"this test will be as objective as i can possibly be...a test of the 126 LED light to show wether or not it can produce as mush bud and as dense of buds as my 400 watt HPS does."

so in response to that objective, i would have to say: not quite...

but in the LED light engine's defense, it did grow me some nice buds!

not bad for my first attempt, though...

i think this needs to be stressed...the 126 watt LED light from hydrogrowled.com produces herb!:jump:

now, i'm not going to make excuses, nor will i get into arguing about my trimming style or any BS like that.

here are my results. period.

i did my best to provide raw data and post it here for you to decide if this light would be a good buy for you...if you are setup in a basement like me, in a non-sealed grow...i would say: "you may have some difficulties with just one of these lights...maybe you should try 2 or more...

but if you grow in an enclosed space (cabinet; sealed enclosure; grow tent style)...bust out your wallet and prepare for the next generation in stealth grow lights! this light may be the answer to your prayers! no heat, practically silent, and it really grows nice buds! the buds are quite dense...

it is really that simple.

i accepted this light at no cost to me...thank you, LEDGirl...the only agreement i made was to document a grow with it and post my progress and results here at our fabulous icmag.com...there were/are no strings attached...i did not show any bias one way or another (i think)...i may even upset a few people with my honest approach...i may even convince a few out there that LED's have a place in our hobby...either way the chips fall, so be it. you decide if i gave it a fair shake.

i am happy to do have done the test...my apologies that it took longer than it should have...

the buds will be cured in jars for a nice long time and in a while, i might even post a smoke report...no promises, though.

thanks for all of your encouragement along the way, and thanks to everyone who posted...it just proves that i am still learning and you all are the best for helping me to continue on my quest for knowledge...

i appreciate all of the help i have been given along the way!:thank you::tiphat:

thanks for a solid test sleepy! this thread should be closed and kept as a sticky so haters can't keep bumping it to start arguments. As with any change in growing style, first run is never perfect. I'm confident that if you did another test like this knowing what you do now, you'd pull a lot more herb, much faster. trial and error is the name of the game. thanks for dealing with that for us all!

Hey Sleepy thank you again for doing this test. Regardless of the outcome in grams per watt, this is just one of many independent grows performed with one of our 126W lights. You had some decent sized buds of good quality, and it's fair to say that if you do a second round it will be better next time. ;)

As you learned, growing with LED's is a different game vs growing with HID, especially in open spaces where heat is not confined in the growing area. You definitely provided valuable feedback and visual results showing people the difference that temperature makes with LED, and also how that affects soil feeding rates, etc... Overall very informative and I hope to see another LED mini grow from you in the future :) +Rep

Sleepy, you rocked this grow. And just as you stated above, growing in enclosed spaces is *exactly* why beginners with cabs and closets can use LEDs to get great results first time out :)

I am proud of your clarity of thought and unbiased reporting in this grow! :tiphat::thank you:

+Rep if I could :)

Great job Sleepy. Thanks for taking the time to document so well. I had to get one to try out for myself. Thanks again for your contribution.

Awesome job! I think this unit in a tight cab built for it could produce close to 1/4lb honed tight. Hydro and something like Nirvana's Aurora..

Sleepy Thanks for taking the time from your normal grow cycles to do this test bro!

I found it quite interesting and amazing!

I took the time to re-read this entire thread again today, and have to say, it's extremely sad to see the BS you had to put up with during this test, and i'm sure some of it was deleted to clean this thread up? so im not getting the whole picture, but it's sad anyway you cut it!, seems like that's the prevailing attitude around here these days.

Can't say i miss it.

I was pretty impressed by how this light preformed, for only 126 watts, 2 1/2 zips aint bad for a first go around, and i'm sure that with clones you would have been able to double that, so all in all i gotta say that was a solid grow!

Do you plan on using this LED light again? if not for a whole grow, maybe for additional lighting & spectrum enhancement?

I have to admit, $500 u.s.d, is a little steep for this light IMHO, but if it lets people grow who other wise would not be able to, i guess it could be money well spent, ESP when you consider the price of herb these days.

Well, you know me, i could go on and on, but i wont, not here anyways.

Hope you enjoy your smoke, and my best to you the miss's & kids.

Peace :Bolt:

Thanks again Sleepy for doing the test. That said - I have to agree - the yield was pretty good. What does that work out to 72 grams on 126 watts? Not bad at all. The only thing is the time. Isnt that what so many growers are concerned with these days? I mean, 13.5 weeks on an 8 week strain is just too long.

Really - you could almost have done 2 grows under an HPS and gotten the same yield TWICE- in other words - double the yield. And that would have been under 126 watts of HPS.

I am not a LED hater - but this and other grows shows that LED alone just takes too long - IMO. Not worth the heat trade off - I'd say get a fan and keep it moving.

I dont know exactly why, although I have my thoughts about it, but our grows using LEDs are not having any delay vs same genetics under HID. Same time for both, 3 days up or down (yes, some grows finished earlier with LEDs)

On the other hand, in general we have noticed that although they get same or, usually, less time with LEDs to trics to turn milky white, they take longer to become amber. As amber color is due CBN, the THC degradation cannabinoid, for those liking or seeking the narcotic touch of CBN, HIDs is the way to go, while for those liking or seeking the highest THC content, LEDs seems to work better. Anyway, it varies depending on strain used, there are general trends, but some strains react different to most in this sense.
