12/12 From Seed: A Different Way To Grow

K

KapnobataiZ

kinda feel like a noob asking this, as 12/12 isnt normally my thing. when running heavy sat doms 12/12 from seed, when do you start counting days for the flower cycle? once one of the group shows female pistils, or once the entire group shows its sex? thanks :tiphat:
i never grow somerhing indoors im building my growroom as we speak but i think it a personal thing i will count flowering for each strain pheno individualy as she show sex, makes more sense especialy if you want to run landraces wich may not show sex until u swich to 11/13 togheter with hibryds..

Like Mack said there are some strains where 12/12 produces great yields and others where yield is impacted.
One of the better 12/12 strains I've encountered is 50/50 sat/ind and some of the more disappointing results have come from indicas and indica dom plants.

If you get the right strain and dial it in you'll need to be shopping for those yo-yo hangers as the lack of veg time does not produce strong branching but it can produce big flowers.
Due to me getting sick of having a spidersweb of yo-yo hangers in my tent I've taken a break from 12/12 growing for the time being.

kinda forgot about this thread,
this finished inside of three months.
six feminized seed, shiva, exodus cheese,3 of each, chosen because of near identical flowering time and quality...cant remember the exact day started,i was just waiting for them to finish.
final dry weight was slightly under 13 Oz's not including trim or popcorn.

I noted with non feminized seeds set 12/12 live there is a greater proportion of male.
9 of 10 seeds have become male .
Sorry for my bad English .

That's just bad ratio man. 12/12 doesn't effect the sex of a plant as it was chose when the seed was made. I have started atleast 20 12/12 regs and have around a 50/50% ratio. Genetics also matter because strains such as Peyote Purple from CBG have a 80%+ female ratio so it's good to keep a male if you find a stellar one.

Liking the auto flowers, thanks for sharing man. Good luck everyone!

ah well I is not had any luck then, I also thought that stress was affecting the male female ration .
Thanks for the information.

12/12 should not affect female to male ratios.

if this were the case, it would be a common occurrence in Equatorial growing areas, where photoperiod year round is 12/12.

I've not seen female to male ratio affected by 12/12 indoors from the beginning either.

if you want to avoid males at all costs, find a nice female, mother her and grow from clones. or fem seeds.

peace!

I've never understood why people post that growing conditions affect the gender of the plants. Things like: more red light -> more males, 12/12 from seed -> more males, etc.

AFAIK, and Like Dr. King said, the gender of the plant is predetermined from the moment there is pollination and the seed is created. And it's the pollen that determines the gender of the plants, similar to human sperm (XY sex determination) or with other animals.

Otherwise the methods of creating feminized seeds wouldn't produce 100% female plants from those seeds. They just wouldn't work that consistently if growing conditions were involved in determining sex.

Is this Malawi normal ?

Is this Malawi normal ?

Hi everybody I need some input from you guys who have all grown malawis in the past. I seem to have two phenotypes of Malawi as you can see from the pics, one short and bushy to the left and the other very stretchy with super thin leaves and branches in the background.
Looking at these two you would never guess they are the same strain and they are both 63 days old 12/12 from seed. My question regards the stretchy one in the background, is this normal at 63 days to still have hardly anything at showing on it or have I just lucked out and received a dud seed ?
Any input would be much appreciated.

The one in the back looks like a sativa and its normal to develope buds slowly as it is a 100% sativa the others look like sativa/indica hybrids, are u shure u didnt switch seeds by mistake?

This works with sativas or stretchy hybrids. Otherwise no yields even for personal stash.......it's however a safe way to grow with minimal chance for pests etc. it's a must for hazes though unless outdoors. Peace sdd

exactly!

Did a 12/12 from seed with northern lights x blueberry did not have sufficient ventilation tho was a closet grow with a 250w HPS topped this during flowering bad mistake then mainlined ended up with two nice heads and lots of side nuggets because of insufficient ventilation and clustered buds had some bud rot in some of the middle nuggets forcing the plant into bud from seed causes hemaphrodite tendencys had one poor seed was NOT exposed to any type of pollen! 50%Perlite 50% premium soil mix. Total from Germination to harvest was 89 days.total yield was 215grams dry weight I think topping while flowering did have its problems e.g slower growth and smaller yield than what I could have got but was a good learning curve !

yes, exactly my words, a plant from seeds needs to mature and show sex BEFORE it will be flowered, its most prob going to hermie otherwise!
a good indication they are ready when shoots start alternating!
