Big Buddha's Blue Cheese from seed to weed...

Mampi

Member
Ok......... so I took the plunge after some deliberating and help from the 'uk420' crew over whether to get....

. White Russain - from Serious Seeds,

. Big Buddha's Cheese,

or........

Blue Cheese (also from the Big Buddha stable).

As the title suggests, I decided to go with the Blue Cheese.

Here's Big Buddha's take on the genetics used-

Blue Cheese
Strain type: Sativa / Indica Hybrid (25% Blueberry 75% Cheese)
Parents: Blueberry x Cheese (male) X original U.K. Cheese (female)
Growing info: Indoors: Flowering time 8-10 weeks
Sensory Experience: Highly euphoric, Very functional,
Smell: A Sweet, Fruity, Tarty, Berry scent, with that recognised musky undertone of the original cheese
Taste: Potent, Blueberry, Fresh taste

Blue Cheese was created, first, by selecting a blueberry male from the entire collection of several different breeder versions of blueberry. The selected male was then crossed with our proud mother, and the backbone of many of our breeding projects; the original U.K. cheese.
From these crosses a male with extremely fruity characteristics was chosen as the father of our Blue Cheese

As promised there were 11 seeds in the pack.... don't know why they dont just say 11 beans instead of ten  but hey!

Anyway I recently bought some Skywalkers from Dutch Passion and managed to kill 9 out of ten after they had germed! managed to kill em by overwatering :badday: :wallbash: so I opted for a growFAQ germ technique this time round...... that way if it all goes tit's up again I can got someone else to blame, teehee :D

These girls will eventually go under either a 400w or 600w lamp depending in how bushy/Tall they get.

Little info on my wee lil cupboard....

2m in Length x 1m wide: of which I use 1.8 (L) x 0.8(W) so I can get around to water etc.... The height is 2.5m.

Extraction is 1 x 8" 1000m3/hr fan on cheap speed controller, with a 6"680m3 intake also on cheap intake..... summers commin!

The females will go into 6.5L pots of coco for bloom.

The one remaining fem'd skywalker will be put in with these seeds and hopefully I should have a nice bit of 2 different Blueberry crosses to toke on
I'll also be on the lookout for a 'cheese' dominant male to dust a the 'cheese' dominant female with :pimp3::joint:

Well on with the show :lurk:

peace!

ooopsss forgot the pics..... what's a thread without pics!!? :D

What's up pontiac :) hope yas got a lot of popcorn bro :D strap in tight myan cause your in for the long haul now bro!

Not much to show right now the beans are still germin, but here's a pick of the beans and the way I germ beans that I knicked of an ex-oger (herbilizor) works a treat and beans usually pop with 36 hours.

Here's a couple pics of the single survivor out of a $120 pack of Dutch Passion Skywalker fem's... my own stoopid fault BTW...

And a lil summin summin to help with the wait of the new crop... a lil LUI mixed with Sour diesel bubble! :bat:

Update:

So far @ 36hrs 5 of the beans haved cracked, just waiting for the other 5 now... hopefully they'll be done by tonight then they'll all go into small rockwool cubes soaked in Canna Rhizotonic which will help em build good roots and I think add some vit. B.

More as it happens

Ok so 9 out of 11 have popped and are in rockwool cloning cubes. The 2 left will surely pop with a lil bit of time, especially considering its pretty hot where I am today which will be sure to help some.

Couple of the tap roots had become real long and I had to split the rockwool cube and the rubber band it back up cause I was not going to get the long roots into the wee hole in the cubes.

Well here's a few pics......

Ok so this is what they looked like 24 hours after placing most of them into rockwool cubes.... 10 of them had popped within 3 days but the last one popped today...

They are growing at a good pace... think this is down to my wee veg space being a lil warmer than usual due to the weather, temps are now 28C lights on & 25C lights off which is near perfect.... humidity is 45% a lil low for this stage but ok all the same....

The first 5 to pop have tap roots showing @ the bottom of the clonin cubes now so I got some 3" ones soaking for them to be transplanted into, then on coco from here...

Anyway, I'll take a few mo pics next week mon, and the would've hopefully grown some by then.

I hear they sell blue cheese in one of the coffeshops in the Dam, anybody know which one it is?

Ciao!

Peace
p.s pass by my current grow....also i'll make sure to post a link to a thread im gonna start to plan my new set up, would be great to get your input.

High

@ Herbie... cheers for checking in dewd, get comfy! Pioneer.... I like the sound of that, as long as i don't have to find any new countries or anything I cabn dig it :D

@ true... High bro I was just wading through the pages of juicy plant porn that you disguise as a thread :D:D nice garden mate! Added a lil something to your new grow plan to hope it helps some.

Plant update

So I got 4 sour diesel 2.5 (rez's) clones to go in with these beans.... the beans are all doing well bar 1 runt who will still come along for the ride. all the rest have rooted through 3" rockwool cubes and are doing fine.... one is starting to show a lil yellow on each leaf tip, what looks like the early sign of a nitrogen dif....

when do you guys start feeding seeds these are like a week from being placed in the paper towels, have 1 set of leaves with the second appearing yesterday morining... and since germination they have had only rhizotonic (which had run out! lol) they also got a bit leggy stretching for the light, should I feed them with ferts yet? Bear in mind there in rockwool....

So I just been checkin on mi beans before I clock off and I realised that yellowing had started to spread futher inward and was now effecting a couple more seedlings.....

Actually looks a bit worse in the pics & has effected 3 of them...

I have hit them with 1/3 strength nutes, I pretty sure this will take care of things as they're in rockwool and were only feed with rhizotonic up until this point.

Anyways if ya see something I aint tell me, but I think all should be well with a lil bit of nutes :)

hi mampi

did you soak the rockwool in pH-adjusted H20 before planting?

what pH you feeding them with?

if no pH probs i'm sure the nutes will sort them out. i'm subscribed bud.

High ya herb  Yeah, I soaked the rockwool in pH adjusted water with a 3ml (i think) per L of rhizotonic. Cheers for the input.....

As ya predicted they seem fine now I gave them some food, the yellowing hasnet spread any further and actually looks darker, more green today... but that might just be wishfull thinking :D lol...

So the seedling were begging me to pot them up today..... So I potted the biggest 7 up in 1L pots of coco mixed with hydroton to make sure there's good drainage and lots of O2 for the small root systems.

I put 2 of the seelings in pure coco to see if there is any difference in growth rate or speed the roots fill the 1L pots...

When transplanted they were feed with 100ml of nutrient mix containing Advanced nutrients of Holland's 1-2-3 mix @ 1/3 strength and 4ml per L of Rhizotonic to help with the x-plant shock, which is minimal in coco anyways.

The AN of Holland is basically the same as General Hydroponics Grow, Micro & Bloom series. I run out of coco nutes and these said they can be used in coco so they'll have to do till monday!

The remaining 4 seedlings - (the slower ones) were put into dixie cups as I also run out of coco :D so I had to improvise.... They were feed 50ml of the same mix as the others.

So far there's only 1 runt in the batch. It's actually strating to grow a lil better now as the root system develops. They all seem to be taking off at the moment and it's been precisely 11 days since I put them into the paper towels to germ.

(just for mi own reference)

7th june - beans placed into paper towels.

10th june - 10 germinated & planted into rockwool cutting cubes.

11th june - last bean germed and put into rw cube.

14th june - most seedling transplanted into 3" rw cubes.

17th june first feed...

This is what these blue cheese seedlings are looking like today :_

What do ya think of em? :chin: I think they're doing ok :joint:

As ya can see they got a bit leggy so I had to prop em up. My wee oscilating fan took a turn for the worst and I'm broke so  they'll have to do with the prop for now.

I done about 4 grows from seeds and never really noticed pheno differences this early, but I can clearly see 2 different ones emerging so far....

Pheno1: has sharp leaves with fine points @ the tip end. The leaves also appear to be a lil slimmer and longer than the other.

Pheno2: has a more rounded leaf, tips are blunt @ the ends with slighty shorter 'wing span' than pheno1 and wider looking leaves...

There are 6 of pheno2 and 5 pheno1.

looking very nice mampi. glad to see they're all healthy green now. amazing how fast they used the nutrients stored in the seed. how often are you watering them? i ask cos i'm about to transplant some seedlings into 4-inch rockwool and i see you're doing something similar here.

i think this is gonna be a great grow. pioneering my brother, pioneering!

Hey herb :_ I was feeding the 3" rockwool 1x a day before roots had popped through the bottom, then I placed hydroton under them and they got 2x feedings per day, prolly 2x50ml plus I sprayed the hydroton beneath to keep the roots from dryin out. When there were 3-4 good looking roots popped out they were put into those 1L pots and I feed them 100ml 2 nights back and they're still fine. I guess they won't get another feed till they dry up or they show any yellowing.... I also sprayed em every morning with 2mlper L of rhizotonic which helped them get a nice root structure going. 1st try with the misting but it seemed to work well....

sup calico  good of you to join the show.... I see yas have your popcorn :D

Hey there Mampi my good mate. nice to see you checking out the blue cheese. i very much look forward to one of your super grow shows. are you planning to grow 'em straight out? or will you make mommas and clones to flower? great job on that germination rate old mate.

look forward to following along.

peace out

No probs herb, hope it works well for you... just a lil more info for yas just in caseyour environment is much different than mine you can make your own adjustments as necessary:

Light: 110w floro
Temp: 29C
RH: 38% (too low!)
Extraction/Intake: None :D

Cor blimey look who's decided to drop by.... :D

What's up ol friend... good of you to check me out!

i very much look forward to one of your super grow shows.

Lol! :D I dunno about super but I'll do me best with what I have... always hoping to learn something new along the way! I think I'll flower out these lot unless they get to big then I'll taje clones and do a mixed run with some sourD and a lil nlxskunk... smoke the clones and see which momma to keep....

I done a big momma clear out a while back, flowering-

LUI (2 x pheno's)
Shiva Skunk (nlxskunk) - 5 pheno's
NYCD (grapefruit pheno & diesel pheno)
NLxBB (2x pheno')

Keeping back my sourD 2.5 momma as that is some class herb IMO, the rest just didn't compare... although I did keep 1 NLxSkunk pheno to re-test.

Shit... why did I start this rant again :D:chin::bat::confused: o' yea! So I am looking for something new to replace the old momma's, lol....

Anyways cheers for stoppin in mate, not much to see for now but it'll warm up soon enough :joint:
