I have been working on my aunt for years. I think it's just something in her head not a concrete recipie, lol. I have gotten pieces of it here and their. I just need to get in to it and experiment some. Kind of a bad time for the family right now, my uncle ( her ex husband) passed away about a month ago. My cousins are having a really hard time with it. My aunt's current husband just took a job and bought a house in Texas without telling her. She only had 10 days to prepare for it. My cousins are pissed at their step dad. Really shity the kids are all grown but they kinda need their mom, or at least some time .
Good evening Packerfan.

Sorry about your uncle bud, I think I read another thread about saying goodbye and he had been a good influence to you in your younger days. That's a tough thing. I'm sure your cusins could use some time to work through this. 10 days to prepare for a big move is crazy. Really bad timing and not cool.

I know all about relatives who don't write recipes down. My grandfather died when I was in my mid teens but was a great cook. When I was very young we use to make Italian sausage like his parients from Sicily made. A few years ago I decided I was going to make sausage just like I remembered it from back then. My first attempt was horrible so I turned to the Internet and books to learn what others were doing to make good sausage. I learned a lot about it from what cuts of meat, how much fat, salt, ect. Once I figured out the basics I was able to play with the spices and get it dialed in.

A lot of people end up vacationing down here but I've never actually met anyone like from OG or icmag though the years.I've had a few telephone relationships over the years,Nothing would be cooler than to actually meet someone I've had a good online relationship with,Florida really can be pretty cool especially if it's not an everyday situation.Hell I'd love to fish the Yellow river in Wisconsin someday like I did when I was a troubled teenager lol.You never know maybe someday some of us might actually hookup.Stranger things have happened I'm sure lol!
Good evening Floridian.

I've been to Florida a few times but only once in the past 10 years. My grandparents use to have a condo on siesta key (I think it was close to Tampa) in the 80's and we went every year for a few. It's alway nice to get out of Wisconsin for a few days in late winter. About 3 years ago I went on a solo vacation to sanabel island for a few days. That was great. I rented a little cabin on the beach and just chilled. I think that was in late February. Weather was nice and most people were cool. There were a bunch of Rastas working there that were friendly and I spent a good amount of time talking to them about life and learned a lot about their culture. I'd love to see more of the state. I'm defenatly due for another Florida trip in the next couple years so who knows. Maybe someday we'll be out on a boat with a fishing rod in one hand and a joint in the other.

Or a joint in one hand,a beverage in the other, and a pole in the holder where she belongs!Setting the hook is oldschool anymore, although when holding the rod I still find myself doing it automatically. They have these self setting hooks now that are nearly circular with a small opening in the circle, can't think of what they're called right now. When you first see it you can't believe you can hook a fish on it much less letting it self-hook,but it works unbelievably for the most part

do you ever do much crabin floridian?
when i lived down that way, i used to love to catch fresh crabs
we used to also catch these crawdaddies out in the canal by our house
i never got the taste for them, but we had a neighbor who would give my friend and i a nickel a piece for those bugs
this was back when we were small fry, so a pocket full of nickels was like a million bucks!

Hey pr no down here I haven't done any crabbing, lots of people own traps though I love fishing so much hardly enough time for both.I sold my little key west BR 186 fishing boat back in February,it was a 2012 I bought her new.Had a lot of fun on that little boat, for an 18 footer she had a lot of accessories. You have to have a live baitwell down here that's a must.In the future I know exactly what I want,a 22 ft Pathfinder with a Johnson 150 or 175 HP.Pathfinder makes beautiful functional boats.I'll get my friend Mr. Bill to help me find a deal,He sold my key west for me.He's the manager of Tampa Harbor where I kept my boat since I bought it.A little pricey around 3 grand a year but man it's so nice making a phone call and having your boat in the water gassed up with ice in the coolers when you arrive. As soon as you come in they spray her down with fresh water and drydock her in this huge building.Man I've never seen forklifts this big before, they stack the boats 10 high in these dryslips. It really adds on the value always keeping a boat that way. When I sold my trailer that came along with it the boat, it didn't have a spot of rust, not bad for a 2012.Mr.Bill will find me a nice Pathfinder when the time comes I have total faith in him.In the near future I wont be doing much fishingwise, definately not boatwise thats for sure.Everything has its time

Good morning Floridian.

So it's all trolling and down riggers and pole holders that's cool. That's how we do it on the Great Lakes fishing for salmon and lake trout. I've also trolled using plainer boards and lead core line on inland lakes for walleye. I haven't trolled with live bait just plugs and crank baits. It's nice to have that free hand for a beverage.

I haven't done much fishing in a long time so I haven't seen those hooks you speak of. They sound cool I'll have to look them up. Interesting how technology keeps changing everything in the world who thought the fish hook could ever be improved.

I just checked out those pathfinder boats I love that style boat. Most of the ones around here like that are the Boston whalers brand and they are known to be allmost unsinkable. I like the open concept and all the room to move around. They really handle the waves.

That harbor sounds like a good deal. I think slips in the Milwaukee harbor of Lake Michigan are at least that much cash or more. I know people who pay over 1k just for 3 months for a mooring on an inland lake that they have to swim out to their boat to get it. That's great that they pull it out and rinse it out after each outing and indoor storage I bet the boats stay like new for a long time. I've heard how hard saltwater can be on anything metallic. Just look at our cars up here after a few winters of driving around on salted streets they all start rusting out. It sounds like they have a good system down. I think I've seen those forklifts you speak of in the harbor in Milwaukee they use them and cranes for the really big boats.

Good morning pop_rocks.

I looked up chicken Charlie's and not sure if it's the same place but I saw breaded and Fried ribs on the menu. I've never heard of breading and deep frying ribs before but I'd give them a try. Their fried chicken looks proper. I really love fried chicken. It's kind of hard to find a good fried chicken around here these days. Getting hungry just thinking about it. How was the food there?

The berry farm sounds cool. What berries are in season? If your lucky they will come home with some great fresh fruit and make something really good with it. Even just fresh berries with yogurt or ice cream can be great.

Yes I'm slammed with work latley and it won't get any easer the next couple months. Thanks for the understanding about my post and reply times I want to stay active on the mag just long days take my energy away sometimes. I'm way overdue on an update and pics of the GB. This time of year I just need to keep my head down and pound out the work, it's job security for the rest of the year for me. It's tough because this is the time of the year I'd like to have more time off to go up north and do other things.

Sounds like the both of us will be doing some outdoor planting this weekend. I hope we get rewarded with a good harvest.

No big plans for me this weekend. Other than some planting I'm planning on taking it easy. The wife and I have Monday off so I'm sure we will do something fun together. I have some things around the house to take care of as well. It's my bros birthday so I'm sure we will be throwing a chunk of some kind of meat on the smoker or grill at some point. Glad to hear you are having nice weather. It's been very nice here since we got through the heat wave last week. It looks like sunny dry days in the mid 70's for the next few days. Gotta love that.

happy birthday to your brother,man!
hope you guys get to enjoy some time together

knotts berry farm is an amusment park, more like magic mountain
it did start out as a roadside diner i think and they are known for their fried chicken
/its very good thin flour dredge kind
the story goes, the husband made some rides to entertain his guests
the place is huge and has some good roller coasters
not like magic mountain, but close
they also have good pies and jam

chicken charlies started out as a place you would find at a country fair
he opened a restaurant here and its not bad
the first time we went was because they had this half rack ribs special
/like $8.99 for a half rack of ribs and a side
so im expecting to see everyone eating ribs, but half the folks there were having the chicken
so i had to go back a second time and try their fried chicken out
its good! and they have sides like fried zucchini and tater tots
/i have some leftover that im going to throw into the toaster oven later today

that is great that you and the mrs have another day off together!
do you guys have any plans?
no worries about the frequency of your postings
just handle your business and hopefully you will get through the summer without too much stress
hopefully you can weather the busy season and take some time off near the end of summer

Hey Fiddynut,

Handmade sausages sound awesome. Unfortunately it's been rough couple years. A few death's on my wife's side, now on my side. I really want to get back to basics. Family first, I have been putting my customers in their place lately. People start to take things for granted. I have an offer to run a commercial garden, but they want to pay in weed. They offered me 35% after expenses, which is pretty good but not stable income. They want me to run the build out, which is a lot of work. If I have to spend a couple months doing a big build, then wait 3 months for a crop to come in. 4to 5 months with no income from that works is hard to pull off. Plus I have to take the risk of moving my portion, no Bueno.

Damn you guys know how to make a fat guy blush, with all this talk of Mexican food, and now pop rocks with his ribs and shit.I in the 3years I worked in San Diego, I never found any good spots to grub.

Hey pop rocks can you recommend any good places to eat close to mission beach? We go their every year for my brother and his wife's birthdays.I don't do LA county beaches, too many sewage spills their.

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

An amusement park, I see. Don't blame you for not tagging along now that I know thet. Those places are fun for kids but less fun for adults. Lots of kids running around and screaming and what not. Not my type of place either. The chicken on the other hand sounds great. Nice and crispy with a thin coating of flower. Now I'm getting hungry again.

I noticed chicken Charlie's had a restaurant menus and a fair menu as well. The chicken sure looks good. Did you see anyone with the deep fried ribs? I wonder how they taste? 9 bucks for a half rack and a side is a great price. All those deep fried sides sound like fair food. All the county and state fairs around here have the little trailers with deep fried anything from cheese to candy bars. You really can't go wrong with fryed food, just not a very healthy option for everyday meals. Damn I'm getting hungry, I might ne d to set up the outdoor fryer this evening and do up some chicken and sides.

Yep we get a couple Monday's a month to hang out. No plans yet but I'm thinking of taking her to the zoo or something like that. Or Maybe some hiking at a park.
Get through the busy season and take time off in September is the plan bud. I'm getting a lot of overtime so I need to stick some cash away so I can make the most of late summer and early fall time off. I want to go to the Dead show next weekend in Chicago but GA tickets are like 450'bucks so I think I'll skip it. Just gotta keep my head down and keep working.

Good afternoon Packerfan.

Sorry about the rough patch the last couple years for you guys. Sometimes bad things seem to happen in bunches and it is a challenge to cope. Just thinking about what next can be exhausting. I guess those things build character and make us stronger people.

Running a big grow sounds cool but must be challenging. Like you said it's far from a steady job and nothing is for sure. I've read a lot of threads on icmag about how many things can go wrong with a partnership. Most seem to think its best to do your own thing and avoid the problems. Sounds like you should keep your eyes open and the right thing will come along, probably when you least expect it.

you bet brother, what would you like to eat?
for straght up burgers, go to hodads
its in ob, kind of funky part of town but their burgers are legit
*posted up a link but it dident work, google hodads san diego and check it out
let me know what you like and how far you want to drive and i can offer more suggestions

while it would be a sweet gig, running a grow show, that sounds like kind of a crap deal
like you said, you are going long months without income and then you have the work of shifting your weight to cash in
sounds like they want you to do all the work, with the build out and grow
/do they at least have their own genetics?
plus i assume they offer no benifits
at that rate, you should be made a partner
otherwise, you might as well find your own backing and grow for yourself

that is awesome that you and the lady have a date day
the zoo sounds rad
always fun to walk around and check out all the animals
i like hiking too
speaking of, gave the lady a fit bit the other day
she is going nuts over this thing
counting steps and logging all the information, it looks like fun
i might get one for myself so i can join in!

i dont think they have the deep fried ribs at the store front
the menu at the fair is more extensive but i think the ribs and chicken are where its at
the mrs and my buddies like the shrimp too
i try to avoid too much fried food but i treat myself every now and then

so are you taking next monday off too, before the 4rth?
i was going to take the 5th off but now they are giving us the 3rd off too, so i think i will save the extra day off
the mrs works on that monday so i will probably take her out for lunch someplace
fourth of july is one of my favorite holidays!

Pop rocks, we are trying to stay close to the 15 or walking distance of mission beach. With the parking being scarce, its essier to walk. Mexican or American food.

Yeah probably going to pass on the big grow. I have always been a solo grower. Had many offers to partner it always wound up in their favor. I would have to source genetics which isn't but a matter of $. They also want me to sell them what I have now for 2 grand a pound . I barely know these people. The wife is an old customer's sister. He's a complete flake, they didn't seem to happy when I told them I wouldn't want him working on the grow. My old customer is trying to be a middle man in the whole deal.

I will be open to producing rosin for them, but not digging the vibe as far as working for them directly. I have a buddy who works for a big commercial garden, he's been hired and let go 5 or 6 timed in s couple years. They tell you what pesticides and provide no protect8ve equipment. All that for mediocre money, no thanks.

how close to grand or garnet are you?
if you give me a general idea of where you are, i can recommend other places in the area that might be in walking distance

Good morning pop_rocks.

I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was busy but productive.

The wife wasn't feeling great over the weekend so I let her sleep late on Monday and we ended up not really going on a date. Instead I put up the ceiling fan she's been wanting me to install in the kitchen we painted a couple months ago. She got to help with that and see my mechanical skills at work first hand. We will do something more fun next weekend for sure. Maybe a brewer game or summerfest.

Monday was a great day to get some girls transplanted. I made some holes in the ground in a nice sunny spot and filled them with ocean forest and some EWC. Out of 6 seeds germinated 1 had shown male and was tossed. 4 out of the remaining 5 are lady's for sure so just waiting on the last one to show. They are on their own now and have to deal with what Mother Nature throws at them.

I also set up three 4 gallon pots with ocean forest at the bottom and happy frog on top and planted 9 seeds, 3 in each pot of A-Rocket X afghan auto for my bro. Going to give them a week or two indoors before putting them out fend for themselves. The best female from each pot will be allowed to grow out.

The Fitbit sounds cool. Does it keep the mileage for bike riding? My phone tells me I do over 10,000 steps a day, and I don't always have it on so I probably do more than that. It's a good feeling to know how active you are. If you get one you guys can have a friendly competition about who is more active.

I have to work next Monday. Not sure why we are even open but we are closing early so it will be a short day. I think the wife works the 3rd and 4th but not sure. Sounds like you have a nice 4 day weekend coming up. That's great you take the Mrs out for lunch, must be a nice break for her. I wish I could do that but my wife works at a hospital and isn't allowed to leave for lunch.

Update and pics

Greetings friends.

My lone GB is doing well. She is needing water every 2 or 2-1/2 days so I'm going feed w/calmag, feed w/calmag, water, repeat. I got her final bamboo supports in last week and tied a couple of the floopier branches up already. I'm hoping for a bunch of beer can sized tops and many more golf ball sized secondaries.

Things are winding down in the jungle. The 5 pots with auto strains I started for a friend are now in the ground and out of the veg tent. I have 3 pots with some more autos in them not sprouted yet but they will be up in a couple days. A week or two and they will be off to new homes as well.

Here are a couple shots of the GB.

Noe for a meat update. My bros birthday was last week and I decided to make some steaks worthy of a celebration. I found a couple of USDA prime tomahawk rib steaks at Costco. The Costco near my house dosent usually have bone in steaks and they looked too good to pass up. They were man sized at about 2-1/2 pounds a piece. As thick as they were I had to cook them in the oven for a bit before going on to the grill to finished and get a nice seer on them. As for sided it was green beans and baked potatoes with some blue cheese and sour cream. Man they were good!

looks like the calyx are already swelling too
how far along is she again?
even tho you are taking a break in the jungle, it sounds like you still have a bunch of irons in the fire!
good move getting the holes prepped and ready to accept plants
keep us posted on how the outdoor autos go

yeah im excited about the fit bit!
got mine today and its charging right now
cant wait to get her set up and start tracking my steps
i started walking at work this year to help with a bad back and it seems to be helping

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

Thanks bud the steaks were great. My local Costco has great beef but they have almost all boneless cuts there. I love a good New York strip or other boneless steak but there is something special about a big bone in rib or a porterhouse. The bone helps keep the steak juicy and adds flavor. Really glad I found them.

Monday was nice and productive and it was good to spend time together getting stuff done around the house. It can't be all fun and games and sometimes we need to work together to get things done. We work well together. Every time we have a big party at the house to get ready for we seem to come together and get things done. Like you said I think that kind of activity is just as important as going out for a fun day. Working together helps us feel closer.

Yep the GB is doing well. I was looking at her this morning and I think her buds are already looking fatter than the wookies, man I wish I'd had a good bulb for the wookies. The GBs frost is looking similar to where the wookies were at too. I found some rust spots on a few leaves today so I'll be keeping an eye on that. I watered this morning after only 2 days and I think I've been letting her get a little too dry the last couple times between waterings. I checked runoff pH and it was right at 6.5 or so so I think I'm ok there. Maybe dry roots were causing the spots. Going to water more often and see how that goes. She is only on about day 35 of flower so plenty of time for the buds to swell up and get fat. I think I'm pushing her pretty hard with all that light just for her.

I'll get some pics of the autos that we planted on Monday as soon as I get back over to see them, probably this weekend. We are getting some rain today so they are getting their first natural watering. Might get some thunderstorms this evening so I hope they will be ok. They seem pretty tough and should be adapting to life in the wild. I'll get pics of the autos in the pots as well once they start growing. These should be exciting projects and I hope the reward us with some good ganja.

That's great you got a Fitbit too. All these gadgets we have today are nice and they help us stay aware of our activity. I'm lucky that I have a job that keeps me on my feet and moving all day long, even if I'm exhausted and sore at the end of it. I do about a half hour dog walk every day as well. I didn't know you had a bad back. That's not cool. I think you are right to walk more and keep it loose. Also working on core strength can help the back. The more muscle you have keeping everything in place the less your back muscles have to work. Glad the walking is helping.
That's great your buddy has one too. A little friendly competition is a good thing. It could help both of you improve your fitness. 10k steps a day isn't helping me loose any weight because I eat and drink too much, but it keeps me from getting fatter. Good luck on getting your steps in and I hope you have a great walk tonight...Fiddy.

Bad backs bites.I can relate all too much. There were times in my twenties where just to get out of bed required a screaming/hollering and it was uncontrollable. It's still bad at times. When your core is at the center of your pain it really blows.Wish I had a bad shoulder or knee sometimes lol but pain wherever it's at sucks ass.I'm in my late 50's now and although it was supposed to be degenerative,it doesn't seem as bad now.Still sucks though.
