I second Budfather. A lot of calyx growth can happen with 2-3 weeks to go. It also could be a genetic runt. A few other possibilities too. How do the leaves look to the eye? If they look healthy you can rule out serious nute def or lockout.

To really know you'd have to grow out another few Passion#1s. Haven't had the pleasure to grow her myself...

Keep on truckin...

Thanks Budfather + Mr GreenJeans, you guys are great. Your opinions and advice are always respected and appreciated.

I was having a hard time deciding on what I was going to do with the "RUNT" :puppydoge . I think you hit the nail on the head Mr GreenJeans. I have a pic on the first post of Page 2 of this thread, this was my last Passion #1 grow. Although the yield wasn't where I wanted it to be last time, the quality, density, and potency was all there. You can see the dif in the buds from last time to this time, both density and trich coverage were much higher. This is an outdoor strain though.

How do the leaves look to the eye? If they look healthy you can rule out serious nute def or lockout.

You can see by the pics (although 8 days old now) the leaves are in good shape. Some of the bottom ones are a little yellowish, but that seems normal at day 58 on a 42 day plant. All the top leaves are great and healthy still. There is a complete seed formed on one of the top buds and the pistils are so shriveled and red, it actually looks kinda funny. Some of the stems of the leaves are reddish too...I read this can also be a sign of some nute lockout, but everything on this plant seems to be a-ok besides weak flower and trich production. She's been on straight water for 3 weeks now, with intentions of flushing her 2 weeks before harvest. Should I reintroduce her to nutes?

hey tml, sorry for the no responses i thinkk you should just let the passion #1 go let her mature and if not the trichs are bound to change color maybe longer she might fatten up a bit too

I'm going to take your guy' advice and let her go untill either her trichs mature the way they are supposed to, or when Hempstar is done...whatever comes first. My hopes are that she'll put on at least something weight wise.

As for the lack of responses, it's not really a big deal and I shouldn't have had the expectations that IC would become the next OG. IC is IC in its own way and I shouldn't want it to change because it's great in it's own way. As much as I've been trying to stay away the last few days, I can't seem to :whip: . I've always stayed away from the "I miss OG threads" because I felt it was only a website. Maybe I finally needed to vent :cuss: . LoL. I think I was just having a bad day. Summers coming anyhow, I'm sure we'll all be a little busier. I'll eventually learn how to make my threads a little more interesting too.

As for all the plants:
Passion #1 - looks like she'll hang around till she's ready or Hempstar is ready.

Hempstar - OMG! :jawdrop: wait till you guys see day 60 pics. Still got 2 days before then.

Tangerine - They are going into LST today, They just starting their fourth node and spacing is medium between nodes. One is a tad more stout than the other, but regardless they both get the LST. I should probably take some pics of them, but I've been lazy. Do you guys wanna see some Tangerine veg pics?
They are to be flowered immediately once Hempstar is done (1-2 weeks) which will make them 4-5 weeks old. I plan on starting an early sexing next week (I have a great feeling and vibe both are ladies) so I can take a cutting or two so I can gaurantee myself some good fems for the next grow. I also have a Passion #1 in the veg box that wants to go outside soon if and when i can find somewhere for her.

Once again thanks to Budfather and Mr Green Jeans for your help.

Day 60

Day 60

High Everybody!

redrose - thanks again, I see you have one helluva garden! nice gallery pics.

Makavellian - thanks for the support, I'm already glad I have made the right decision.

Budfather - Took some Tangerine pics just for you buddy.

:chin:

Now some pics:

Passion#1:
I'm glad I let her stay on board for longer. After a trich check today, I see some clouding up some more. Although I don't see her putting on any beef yet, she seems to be gettin a lttle bit fuzzier. You have a look.

^^This is the very top. If you look close you can see the seed formed.

Heres my pride and joy :woohoo:

Hempstar:
Hempstar is treating me so very well and is the nicest plant I've grown so far in my life. Her frost production is amazing, she smells amazing, and she's gonna have a nice yield. Check these pics:

Finally got lucky with the macro setting

^^ I think this is the best pic I've ever taken.

And now...the much talked about, but never shown...

Tangerine:
I wish I woulda thought about taking some pics before I LST'ed them. They've been in LST for 2 days now and have already shown some horizontal growth. They will be sexed this week, cloned if female, and flowered immediately once Hempstar is done.

I'm hoping they are both ladies, but I'll even settle for one.

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Nice growing man.

My very first plant was a passion #1, I grew it on my porch in hydroponics, under the sun, they get really big. I used to have photos, but they went *pooof* along with OG. It's not really a plant I'd call adapted to indoor growth, especially that flowering stretch it does.

Day 63

Day 63

I can't believe its been 9 weeks. The last 3 or 4 have went by rather quick. Probably because of the beauty of Hempstar.

ixnay007 - Nice to hear from another Passion #1 grower. I would love to grow this plant outside with lots of room. The first time I grew it indoors it grew to over 6ft on me. Maybe I'll upload some old pics when I get a chance. It did much better than this runt in LST. It still only yielded me about 1oz, but it was chopped somewhat early and I was completely new to growing. The buds however were amazingly potent, trich covered, and very very tasty. I look forward to getting at least 1 Passion #1 outdoors this year and let her grow to the sky! You are right about it not being adapted to indoor growth. Thats where I think I messed up on this one...I denied it that giant stretch it loves so much by keeping it tied in LST during the stretch. If you can find your pics please upload, I would love to see them.

I checked the Trichs yesterday (usually do every second day). Hempstar is maturing quickly and entering the harvest zone. I seen my first amber trichs and are at least 30-40% clouded. This is on the main cola. Some of the lower buds yet to have any amber and are still working on the cloudy. I'm thinking harvest will come day 66 or 67. Passion is still mostly clear, but showing some signs of cloudiness. She still hasn't put on any weight.

The Tangerines are doing great and are growing so fast. They have a potent smell to them which is bumming me out, because with past experience only males have that certain scent while still in veg. Though I know thats no way to early sex. I have taken care of that by flipping to 12/12 yesterday. I want to pre-sex them. If they are ladies they will be cloned, transplanted, and stuck under the HPS for continued flowering. I got my fingers crossed. Should know hopefully when Hempstar is done now. The transition can be immediate.

Thanks for stoppin in guys...

Day 65 - Passion #1 Harvest

Day 65 - Passion #1 Harvest

Ganjajuana - Thanks for your kind words. Hempstar does look awesome doesn't she? Only thing I can take credit for is watering her and giving her a home. She did the rest.

Well...heres my very sad Passion #1 harvest. Even more dissapointing than last time. :badday: I am going to make the best of it though. I have taken what is smokable to dry, and the rest will be made into Cannabutter. If I had to guess on the weight of my smokable dry product (because I don't even own a scale) I'd say its around the 10 gram area. That seems like a big waste of 15 weeks to me. Only way I'll ever grow Passion #1 indoors again is if I have nothing else to flower. It will become my staple for outdoor attempts though, because I know of the potency and most of all taste of its buds are much sought after by this connoisseur.

Here's What I got:

^This is all of it. Like I said, 10 grams or so tops.

^^Sizing them up

^^^ a close up of how light and airy those buds are. Much more so than even the last time I grew Passion. Something went wrong with this plant at week 2 of flower, and she hasn't grown since.

^^^^ Day 35 of my previous Passion #1 grow. Yeah...you can see the difference. Something went wrong this time.

Wheter she was a genetic runt, got rootlocked/nutrient locked, or just didn't plain produce indoors it was still nice to harvest a plant. I'm still a learning grower and I should take what I can get the first couple shots. I know the Passion #1 smokes really well, I'm just thankfull I can taste my favourite taste again. Come fall...I hope to be smoking nothing but Passion #1 grown outdoors.

Hempstar - looks like she's coming down on day 67. I am soooo excited. Her trichs say she's ready...her smell sez she's ready...her leaves say she's ready...I say she's ready. I was just giving her an extra day or 2 on Passion to save me the work of harvesting both on the same day and because she grew a few new pistils that have yet to turn colour and I wanted to see how they were going to develop. I still do have a nice little 5-7 day window if I need to keep her on board. But I doubt she'll make it past Monday. I can't wait to quick dry a bud or 2, the rest won't be touched till properly dried and 3 week cure.

Tangerine - They've been on 12/12 for 4 days now. The suspense is killing me. They probably won't show for at least another 2-5 days. I think I'm going to put them in under the HPS with Hempstar but their timers are off by an hour because of daylight savings time. Would it be stupid to mess with Tangerines 12/12 schedule 4 days in by changing it by 1 hour?

This will be the place to be for Hempstar harvest pics in a few short days :smoker:

Hey there Budfather,
The Passion smoke is decent, though not nearly as good as last time. I quick dried the buds on a heater last night and have smoked a couple sample joints already. I decided not to waste my time and cure it and just using it as a money saver. Hopefully it can hold me over the week untill Hempstar can get 6-7 days drying in. Then I can take what I need and cure the rest. Since Tangerine has already been in 12/12 for 4 days looks like I'll only have 8 weeks of flower left with Tangerine (providing they or one are females). Shouldn't be long before they tell me their sex. I'll take more pics of them when I know or not they are fem.

Day 67 Hempstar Harvest!!

Day 67 Hempstar Harvest!!

I got a few extra minutes here so I'm going to post my pre-harvest and harvest pics.

Chopping up Hempstar was a fun time. They are hanging up now. Yield looks good, I'll never have an exact amount cuz I don't own a scale. If I had to guess it would be between the 30-50gram dry window. It's a pretty big window but...I'm just gonna smoke it all anyways. Have a look...

Pre-Harvest:

Bushy little bitch eh

Here's was the harvest netted me:

^Whole Enchilada

^^Size comparison

^^^Up Close

The smell is crazy while hanging. Trying to deal with that. I'll take some pretty nugget pics once she's dried. They will come along with the jar pics.

Passion #1 is nearly gone and I have a couple Hempstar nugs being quick dried. Smoked alot of Passion #1 this week. Been riding the head high. Though I'm still disapointed. I only have a gram or so left.

Tangerines are in the flower room and doing well. At day 6 of 12/12 they still havn't shown me any indication to sex. No pics untill I know. They have beautiful side growth in LST and this is what I'm going to attack when and if they are females and I want some clones. Leaving the main cola intact.

To further elaborate on Budfathers question earlier.
Willy Jacks Tangerine (Chronic X California Orange Bud)
Chronic (NLXSkunkXAK47) I believe.
http://www.willyjack.com/
I've never tried any of Willy Jacks strains yet. Though the price was right for the beans and I bought them locally in person. Sounds like a winner but just in case......
I read a thread that intrigued me here on IC about reveg. Since I never cloned Hempstar I'd like to keep the legacy alive. So when the Tangerines went in the flower room, the Re-vegging Hempstar went back into the veg box. Heres a look:

She's back on 18/6 schedule. Once she grows me some new growth. I'll clone it.
Hope you all enjoy

Thanks for the compliments guys,

MGJ - I hope you're right. It's day 7 and they still havn't shown. I have personally noticed males show sooner than females. So, I am happy they are taking their time, probably increasing my chance they are ladies. Since starting my environmental enhancement for the production of females (as described on Dutch Passions website) I've had 3/5 females. The other 2 are the Tangerines and are still unknown as of yet. If they are both female that will make 5/5 females from seed. 100% is a nice ratio to have.

ogrefugee - I think you are right. Passion #1 is definately an outdoor strain. When I first bought them I was a complete newb and had yet to discover OG or IC. I bought them while on vacation in Vancouver and I only bought them because of the very high thc level, fairness of price, short flowering period, and the fact the guy who sold me the seeds said they were indoor/outdoor. I had come to find out they were strictly outdoors only after purchasing them and researching DP's website.
The First time I grew Passion #1 I was a complete newb and had only read Greg Greens Cannabis Grow Bible. It is a good book, but a little outdated. I was well into flowering when I bumped into OG. I harvested about an ounce of crazy sticky and trich covered buds off a 190cm(6ft) plant. I was a little dissapointed in yield, but very impressed with the quality and myself. I figured if I LST'd Passion and kept her at a certain height she'd get much better penetration and be able to grow bigger buds. Something happened at week 2 of flowering on this grow. Whether it was nute lock, rootlock, or just a genetic runt. I feel I could do better if I gave it another shot, but after seeing what Hempstar is capable of and purchasing a high yielding, potent, indoor strain suited for how I'm growing...I'll stick to the stubby indoor strains for indoors. The spring is just about upon us, Passion #1 will be grown outdoors this year.

Hempstar has been hanging for 4 days and I checked them for the first time today. STINKY! The fresh skunk and candy aroma is overbearing. Need at least 2-3 more days time hanging before they hit the jars.

I'll snap some dry nug and jar pics when they are ready.

Hoping Tangerines show soon and hoping they are ladies...should be a fun grow.
