Super Cheap Mass Cloner

I hate domes. I just put mine in a bucket, clear or whatever. I do spray mine with neem oil though after I've taken my cuts. I leave a couple of inches of water in the bottom. And at 7-10 days this is how it looks.

This is the NEATEST and easiest way I have EVER used!!! I've been doing it "THIS WAY" since shortly after they posted this up. I have strains that people say.. they DO NOT clone well... week/10days and ya gotta PRY em up for the roots!!

simple as pie, 1st time growing and cloning, 8 days later a few are already showing roots, just a few containers from wally, tiki wiks and water, and voila, clonage!

kick ass way to clone... 2 easy.. but have any1 noticed the roots with this system is a different then roots from a ex cloner. The roots seems to be much fatter and shorter compared to long and thin with the ezcloner. not saying that is a bad thing but just a observation that i made. btw got roots under 14 days and i didn't use a heat pad or anything. room was around 60-70 degree at any given time. thanks gratefulhead for sharing this.

Hi H3ad, I just built your wick cloner to try and get some better success with a particularly nasty strain to clone, SugabearII's OB1. This is an awesome Oregon 90 X Burmese that I can't wait to smoke, I've only read the reports. Pineapple yum!

My mom is a clone, so it can be done, but she was 1 of 4 to make it, and it took weeks to start seeing new growth. She was started in a peat pellet, with gel I believe, it wasn't me who cloned her.

I have a kinda large cut (which may not be helping - woody stem) in peat pellet and after 3 weeks I checked and it has a single root bud of about 2mm. I broke it putting the cut back in so that may be it for her. :badday: I had to look for knowledge's sake, I swear! :D I wonder if the acidity of the peat is affecting growth, although ph 8 tap water should balance it out.

Now that I am back here (I checked out your cloner a long time ago and got the idea for the cloner) I see you are using coco to start clones. Interesting, as I gro in cocosoil as well. If this cloner doesn't produce, I will try that method next. I feel this girl is gonna be special and worth mastering. Lee Valley has an excellent self watering small or large seed starting tray that is durable and well designed. Fill the cells with coco, fill the rez and that's it. The bottom stand doubles as a poker to pop all the cells from the bottom, and an indicator for your rez water level. I digress.....

Did you adjust ph of water that filled your wick cloner? Does ph matter in forming roots? I would imagine it does. I have fulvic acid on hand to bring it down from 7.9ish to 6.8, since the perlite is ph neutral.

Thanks for your time.

I'd pull that one that is taking so long out of the peat pellet, and put it in a cup of clean 6.0 water... If a root has already tried to form, and you keep the water fresh, it should make it... if you go to coco, don't let it stay too wet...

So a little update.

Built the cloner, 5 cuts are in, doing well and I will check for roots soon.

My one OB1 clone in the peat pellet rooted finally! 36 days!! It just never looked droopy, so I figured don't touch it, and I checked the peat pellet after awhile and there were 3-4 beautiful white roots sticking out, like stubble. I topped her up with cocosoil and now she is doing great. The top was getting faded yellow from lack of nutes but now the green is coming back and looking good. Now I can finally flower one and enjoy this smoke first hand.

I'll post an update on the wick cloner progress soon.

Ths is the best way to clone.EVER! Thank you H3ad! :joint:
No domes,no misting,95% success,(they pretty much all root, some just get culled out) I have left them in a long time too, like +- 30 days! Low light and a little food towards the last 2/3s of "storage".
Thanks again H3ad!!!

Hey Grat3FulH3ad and others! Wanted to let you know I built one of your perlite cloners yesterday. Looks like I even found the EXACT same bins at my dollar store except for the color which I had to settle for blue but oh well. I was not able to find tiki wicks do to the time of year so I picked up a pack of sponges at the dollar store and cut them into strips. Seems to work well, hopefully whatever fungicide or whatever is on those sponges when you get them doesn't cause any trouble. I rinsed them a bunch to try and remove it all. One question I had is how do you go about checking for roots? I am willing to wait a good couple weeks and I remember reading about the skewer that you used to remove it, is that how you check as well, by removing? I just want to make sure I'm disturbing the developing roots as little as possible. I also am giving JJScorpio's method a go. They were all cut last night and will be rooting next to each other. I'll let everyone know how both methods go. Have a great day!

So 5 cutz didn't make it. This is one damn hard strain to clone. 2 looked like they may have pushed roots, but 24 days now and just a little callous at the end of the stems......

Luckily this is personal stash and 1 rooted clone at a time is all I need to grow a big plant.

I'm gonna stick with the peat pellet method for my OB1 (36 days but the clone is rooted and less disturbed) and try the wick cloner again when my Mountain Jam moms are ready to give some cutz for flowering.

I agree. But I usually cull the weaker ones(3-5%).

Pete? SunnyDog? I know it's easy to overlook since it's in the middle of my paragraph but how do you guys check for roots? Thanks!

I wait roughly 10-14 days and then I tug on mine a little. If I get some resistance, I may use a spoon to get under one and check. The other thing that I like to do is use clear containers in order to see the roots as they pop up. I play with bubble cloning too. Yet, I like the perlite or even a 80 or 90% perlite to 10-20%vermiculite mix. Love this method. Since there isn't an excessive amount of moisture. I can put a ton of clones in a small area. I even clone house plants to give away with this method.

 Hi All ! Nice Info!!! Tried about 6 different cloners with BAD results...
read a thread in here and BAMM!!! 100% success rate so far..... :jump:

Use household items: A cooking metal pot 3 qt
A fish tank airpump dual perferred and 12/18" air
line with an airstone, the large round volcano of
bubbles!!!!
tin foil to cover the pot, fill the pot 2/3 way with RO
water
Ph 5.8 temp 70~80....75 is ok....place airstone in bottom
& run the air line along the bottom and up the side, then
put tin foil over the pot and make a snug seal around the
rim of pot,and over the air line. poke a small hole close
to
the rim, so the pot can breathe....then plug in airpump &
BUBBLES!!!! Take cuttings use Clonex purple and poke
small holes in tin foil with a toothpick place dipped
cuttings in hole into the bubble water in pot and wait
7~10~12~14 days and ROOTS!!! The secret is the Metal
Pot, it keeps the temp steady..........most cloners use
PLASTIC...Crazy temp fluctuations...
