12/12 FROM SEED WORKS!

This plant was grown under 12/12 all time since she was born.
The strain is NLX from alien shop and has more sativa in its genes (important when using this light shedule),
45 cm from beggining of the stem to top,
9,5 liters containers.
I´m IMPRESSED with this method that i learn from atmosphere1 from OG and will try to use it on a sog from seed in the future.
I expect from this bitch 30g dry (imagine a few of this little monsters in a very small space)
So for me its proven that this 12/12 thing actually works.
So see the pic and take your own conclusions.
Hope you guys enjoy it.

NICE you get bud faster but I wouldn't do it with expensive seeds though because the plants cant live to their full potential ,n yield is decreased, quality I don't think its less. Anyway it's still a nice technick to keep taller plants low, nice small plant! Enjoy the buds.. How long has this plant lived (seed ->bud)?

what light did you use?

did you just normally plant the seedling in the soil, start with the light on straight into 12/12? did you do anything else differently than normal?

Unless the pic is decieving I think you are going to do a little better then 30 grams....Looks good.....How old was the plant when it flowered?

Ya looks like alot more than an ounce and 2 grams to me, looks nice and dense. Nice job bro.

interesting. That looks like a really sweet nug.

What type of light did you use? What happened during the normal veg cycle? Did it immediately start flowering?

Is there a period where you could take clones if you wanted? Overall, how many days did it take from seed to finished nug?

I am guessing that it must take at least three weeks to show sex from seed going 12/12. I flowered a batch once at 20 days and they still took 2 weeks to sex....

12/12 from seed works - the sativa seems to do better for some reason. the indica (purple) seemed to be smaller

hello,
i also tryed the 12/12 from seedlings to...worked great, the plants wont flower till there mature regardless if you veg them or not...they will also reach there maturity just like a vegged plant.drawbacks are smaller plants..you can top them to make them bushier but, they wont grow much more than 2-3 feet unless, there a long flowering sativa then you'll most likely get better yields..i got apprx. 1 ounce a plant average from 20 fem seedlings at 12/12 right away...just my personal observations/experiences
and mho...some pros are, youll have buds a month sooner than if vegged for a month..maybe not the yield but, mature buds none the less.

Only used one 400w,
The medium is 2 parts commercial potting soil, 1 part vermiculite and one part perlite, the nutes i used are canna flores, vega and pk 13/14 (you will not need many nutes depending on the size of the container and soil used) I only used it a few times.

I chopped the plant 3 days ago and is now drying. The seed sprouted on 15 january and put directly on the 12/12 chamber, total time i think is 71/72 days or so.
I think this method will spare you more time and money that the clone and mother plant method will.

Why would a sativa dom be preferable for 12/12 from seed method?

There are several reasons for one to grow sat dom plants using 12/12 from seed indoors ( low stature plant, less costs in electricity, you get a single monster cola, more space available for more plants, etc) But as already you should know, in the equatorial line the sun shines 12 hours per day full year. So its a natural shedule for those plants grown in that regions.
A strain like that grown indoors, if vegged 18/6 or so, would become very tall, stretched and the buds very tiny and spaced. It would be wise to give no veg time to sativas if you want to grow them in coffined space.

I heard many people in the past saying it would not work, it would give a joint per plant, etc. Many people like to follow the rules of the books and stick to that like dogmas.

Of course that the buds dont start to grow immediately on day one, the plant will take 2/3 weeks like it were vegging under normal circunstances then first start to appear the males and in a few days to a week later the female pistills show up. After that, the plant will stretcht a bit and is important that you dont change it too soon to the bigger container cause the growth will explode and so the stretch betwin nodes
and you want compact plants after all. Other important factor that will decide the size of the stretch is the lights. USE HID´s from the very beggining of the plant´s life, that will ensure close nodes and a very compact plant.

So if one for example starts with 10 seeds in 10 half liter cups you would discard the males in about 2/3 weeks time without vegging and without wasting to much soil (although you should spare the best male for breeding and that is important with this method). One should be able to get at least 4 females of 10 seeds. 4 females would be able to yield 30g each 120g total and that would not be bad for a 0,3 square meters space with a single 400w hps. Yields tend to become better in the long run. I think you can have 5 harvests per year.

so growing sat dom's equatoraly you get short, one cola bushes that don't yield?

Hey stoney, not exactly like that.
It depends on the space for the roots to grow. For example, if you put the same plant, outside, in a pot, the growth will be limited to the size of the pot, but if planted in no containers just in nature soil, it will grow big anyway.

That´s why it is important, when grown indoors, you dont change from the little container to the bigger one too soon. If so, you will give enough food and space for the undesirable stretch

A guy in OG ( i think ic3t) grew super silver haze indoors under the 12/12 shedule and then switch to 11/13 and the plants still managed to grow to 1,50/1,80 meters.
Of course this all depends very much on the strain you use, for very extreme sativas indoors i would give 11/13 all the way.
Pure indicas are not suitable for this method.

Are you sure the plants are Sativa? I dont see a way possible for a sativa to go from seed to harvest in 70 days if it took 20 days to cull males. I have grown sativas that had to be flowered for over 90 days on mature plants......

JJ, they looked more like indica/sativa mixes, with a sativa dominance...But hey, what do we know, they're not our plants and we didn't grow them. For 12/12 from seed resulting in that, I give him standing applause, and I just might try this method out myself next grow....What the heck, we're all about trying new grow methods, right? I think I could give this method a shot, see how it works for me :D

couldn't you just use female seeds to counter the high male rate?

No man, I would prefer to use more seeds instead. Female seeds are not so good and sooner or later you would run out of them and would have the need to buy more. I really like to breed! I feel its more the natural way and in a few generations you will have a more stable strain because you will have more plants to choose from the best plants.

The higher males to females is something true, but again, use more seeds.
If your place holds to 6 adult females grown in 12/12, use like 15 seeds. From 15 plants you will have more options to choose.
Like it was said earlier, expensive seeds are not a great option, its preferable that one start to experiment with bagseed or other inexpensive strains.
If you would start breeding using allways the best plants with the desirable traits in a few generations/years you would have your own stable strain.
Starting with a skunk#1 would be interesting because is a very stable plant and not so pricy afterall and not so many phenothypes to deal with.

Hey scorpio, the NLX seeds i used are in fact sat/indica with more sativa to it. I didnt say it was finished in 70 days, i said i chopped the plant at 70 days but i know i should had give her more 1 or 2 weeks for perfection ambar of the thrichomes. But what heck, i was in a hurry, hehe, i´m running out of weed.

Check this site in the seedbank section, go to alien seeds and see the nlx plant they grew on 12/12.

hey looking real nice bro. From chillin at the GSA forum Ive found that NLx is supposdly NLxWW. Sounds like a nice cross, but id assume it would be more 50/50 rather then sativa dom. if you get the right pheno Though WW and NL contain quite a bit of a sativa. Either way I got some NLx seeds waiting to planted outdoors this month.

potency is not effected whatsoever Stoney... yeild is ofcourse. but its all how you have it planned out. 15 small plants...yeilding around an oz each , well thats a pretty good harvest id say.

it all just comes down to your growing situation and skill. You do what your comfortable with. If you feel confident you can get a good yeild from starting 12/12 and have the skill whynot?

I think the biggest reason to go this route is lack of room.
