Name: ’91 Malibu Fire
I also thought this would be the best place to explain the peculiar name of this flower. Green Angel of Malibu has numerous ’91′ strains. The ’91 refers to the mother plant that was used to grow these meds that has supposedly been around since 1991.
Also, the name of the bud is indicative of where it was grown. For example, Green Angel is currently carrying ’91 So Cal, ’91 Bel Air, ’91 Valley, and ’91 Nor Cal. These are all the same buds which came from the original 1991 OG Kush mother plant that have just been grown in different areas.
From: Green Angel of Malibu (Dispensary – Malibu)
Grade: A
Type: Indica (According to the menu board this strain is 100% Indica but I have a strong inkling that it’s more of a 75/25 or 80/20 hybrid)
Price: $60/8th
Looks: The specific 8th sack I bought consisted of some very thick, resinous, dark green buds that were covered in an assortment of light and dark pistils as well as an abundance of sparkling trichomes.
Smell: An earthy yet extremely sweet and pungent smell punches you directly in the face when you pop open a container of some fresh ’91 Malibu Fire.
Taste: The taste of this herb is very similar to it’s smell; sweet and oh-so-good!
During inhaling, its a very heavy yet smooth smoke that tastes slightly sweet and piney. Immediately after exhaling this bud really hits you and it’s difficult to refrain from coughing.
Buzz Type: This bud is quite the creeper. Just 10-15 seconds after inhaling you can feel a weak high melt over your entire body. Roughly 5-10 minutes later, a much heavier body high begins to set in.
Buzz Length: Long. Three fat tokes had me medicated for just over 2 hours.
Overall: I really enjoyed this ’91 Malibu Fire and I have to say, it sparked my interest regarding some of the other ’91 strains. It’d be interesting to find out how some other cuts from this 1991 OG mother came out being grown in different areas by, I’m assuming, different growers. –Azhi
