Dubi which pheno produces a wider leaf?
Hey, LT, I had this bookmarked so thought I'd share. Sounds like the Malawi leaning phenos have the largest leaves.
Hi Mr. Roseberry,
It's not difficult to identify the different Zamaldelica phenos in the growing stage if you are familiarized with the landrace genetics involved in the hybrid (Zamal, Malawi and Thai).
Zamal phenos have a super bushy delicate branching (octopus branching) with smaller thinner leaves, a bit like the one posted by yoss in the first post of this page.
Thai phenos tend to grow taller, more columnar, less bushy, with recognizable thai leaf traits like the one posted by orfeas in this page.
Malawi phenos are also quite easy to recognize, it has a stronger more open kind of branching, with usually bigger darker leaves.
Keep in mind Zamaldelica is a polyhybrid not fully stabilized towards one concrete pheno, so there are combinations inbetween, and also it's very important to finally judge and select for flowering traits, terpene profile and effects.
Regarding flowering times, more zamal dominant plants are the fastest, then the Malawi phenos and finally the thais.
Here's one of our favourite Zamaldelica mothers (Zamal dominant) growing outdoors, it was planted from clone in early June and now in late August reaches 2.5 meters of height with a very healthy lateral branching. It has just started to flower.
