Actually, I think people in the burbs have fly problems too.
Is it legal to butcher a cow in your driveway in the burbs ? Now THAT makes for some flies.
I had a country fly problem yesterday.
I went to pick up the mail and when I opened the box there must have been 3,000 tiny ants running around covering the inside.
A fly had gotten in and laid lots of eggs (maggots!) and the ants were there taking the eggs back to their nest.
There's something strange about this place - there's been a serious drought for a long, long time but that doesn't seem to stop things from growing,
hugh scary weeds I've never seen before in my life and all kinds of threatening invasive vines that come out of nowhere and grow 8 ft. over night in the shade.

Gotta love them farm fresh butt nuggets, I usually have 8 to 10 dozen on hand. Store eggs are practically flavorless in comparison.
you have Amish buggies with horses parked at the local Walmart.
sounds like Lawrenceburg TN. LOTS of Amish. you gotta be careful driving the back roads. i'd lose my mind if i hit a horse-pulled buggy full of folks. luckily, most of them try HARD to be home by dusk...

I needed to ask one of my neighbors a favor, so I brought him some eggs that I thought were fresh.
I had just dug out some blackberries next to the kitchen, so I could get to about 3 dozen of the most recent eggs laid.
The favor I had to ask was, if I can buy .006 acre feet of water from him for $12.
Some other neighbors were complaining about my water use & I was looking for alternatives.
Turns out, it's "against code" for me to buy 240 cubic feet of water from my neighbor. Had the 300 yards of hose ready to go and a gas powered pump and everything.
Anyway, I went home and had some eggs from that batch. Some of them were borderline rotten - these are fertilized eggs.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more perishable than un-fertilized eggs.
So I drove into town and bought a dozen organic eggs. Then saw that neighbor on the way back. Stopped him in the middle of the road, and told him there's a problem with the eggs I brought him, so here are some fresh eggs.
I went over the next morning to try and recall the bad batch. He wants to keep them. Not sure why. As long as he knows it's a bad batch.
Also turns out, I'm using less water than the neighbors who complained about my water use.
And, I planted corn in the tiny stream that runs from the spring to the creek. Actually, I did it BOG Style
Drilled holes in the bottom of 1 gallon pots and placed them right in the puddle/tiny stream. so the roots can grow through to the ground and they don't need transplanting, that's what I mean by BOG style.

We have gobs of them now. The first known pack was discovered close to where I live. They swam the Snake River and came over from Idaho. I saw the first alpha male in Oregon when he was just a pup. They just shot him - he got old and started eating cows.
