Yellowing leaves while flowering? Correct the problem with a high N food.

I’ve always wondered why people “flush”. When plants are actually done, they stop taking in nutes, and barely move any water.

Anyone with a drain to Rez setup and a brain knew this years ago. When the plants are done the Rez ec goes up as the Rez level goes down, as the plants stopped up taking nutes, and are more or less moving the minimum amount of water possible through wicking action.

I think the whole flush thing started with people trying to starve their plants into finishing sooner.

I do it just to save on the nutrients used. At that point, the plants do not need any more food. Its a waste to keep feeding plants that are not gonna use it. Most of what I grow I know how many weeks they flower for. Its easy to figure out when to stop feeding.

I change out the Rez for a few flood table setups every 7 days except the last week, then I just top off with water.

Believe me it’s not saving money or work that I’m against. I guess it just gets mildly irritating to see every guy on his first trip around go on about the horrors of unflushed flower.

Sugar, not npk is what makes a joint burn with a charred black ash instead of a clean light white ash. The only way to get rid of that isn’t flushing, it letting the plant finish.

It becomes and is now an established paradigm. As I'm finishing up a harvested and then re-vegged Lapis Mtn. indica I'm keeping it healthy and producing with a pot drench of 1 tsp. Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro per gallon in rainwater. For a seedling that popped Nov. 12, 2022, it still looks damn good. Not yellowed and scraggly looking like its been run over by a Mack Track.

There are many like me that march to a different drummer. I just let the rule of botanical processes drive my decisions....always have no matter what the plant material is/was. Has kept me out of trouble over the years. :geek:

No such thing as flushed outdoor flower. No one does that outdoor AFAIK.. It's only an indoor thing. I don't call it flushed. That's a different process. It's just a gradual reduction in nutrients used. Outdoor I don't need to use nutrients the same as indoors. Outdoor has a vastly better microbe population. Indoor medium is void of a lot and must be added. Any microbial life is easy to kill off when not using organics. If it's hydro there is no microbial life.
