wtfn's 4000w legal medical soil food web organic grow show

Yeah, besides the IR thermometer I discussed a few posts back, these are literally all the pieces I think I'll need to for a full rig. I tried to make sure I got plug and play stuff where possible. I made sure to keep the urls so I could post them here because a lot of people, myself included, just don't know where to begin with purging. Luckily I have a friend in Colorado who does this professionally and he is guiding me through the initial steps of the process. I'm pretty sure I'm over the hump now and can glide through the rest of this process. There are a million tutorials on how to purge, and I think I've watched them all, but there are practically zero tutorials on how to set up a full rig in order to be able to purge.

After a little more research, it looks like that's the right range to get for my purposes. I ordered everything today, and it should all be here by Wednesday. I'll go get the pump and the butane in the city tomorrow. This time next week, I'm hoping to be high as hell.

On another note, I ran myself out of nighttime smoke, and with the money crunch I'm under I didn't have many prospects for getting any more. The sublime just does NOT cut it for a nighttime smoke, not in the least. So last night I went through the purple platinum trim box I have and sifted all the bottom stuff through my double-screen grinder. It's a little ghetto, but it yielded me about 6.5g of keif that pressed together in a greenish black hash ball, and about 3/4 of a gram of full melt bubble from the bottom layer. It was a shock to me; now I'm a very happy camper!

hell yea wtfn! that's a rad come up.

very interested in your bho trials, something I've been looking to get into. Can't wait too see what you come up with :headbange

Once I run through this first batch of butane and I can get some money back in my hands I'll go down to airgas. My friend in Colorado said that they will let a non-business rent the small, 5lb tanks, with a hefty deposit. It'll cost $75 to refill it, too, so it's a little more expensive than buying vector, but you get pure n-Butane rather than a proprietary mix. For now, though, Vector will work just fine.

Scored the pump and butane today, after an hour drive each way. I went with Newport, the can that says "near zero impurities." The pump seems to work fine, but I won't know for sure until I get the vac chamber and pressure gauge. Everything I bought on ebay has supposedly shipped out already. I should have bought my extraction tube locally. I could have saved 10 bucks will I was at the head shop today. He had some really nice tubes, some with a "cup" for your butane bottle to keep it steady. PM me if you want to know the shop, tho I'm sure there are other shops in the area that have excellent deals as well. That was the first true blue head shop I've been in since I got to Cali, believe it or not, and I was totally blown away. I'm gonna have trouble not buying the whole store once I go in there with some money.

Day 7

Not the best pics in the world, but here goes...

I lollipopped the Blue Bubbas tonight and took some clones. I'll get to the SSHxBD tomorrow. Really aggressive growth on those.

I've noticed my XL hoods really suck. They put a hot spot right in the middle of the grow area. I've had to raise them almost 3ft off the plants to even it out a little. The plants seem to like it.

The plants are loving their canopy at ~ 83*F.

you can get lost in that forest mate lol...I see my plants liking it a t83f too ,, I remember coming up tripping about temps in the 8o's how naïve lol :tiphat:

Update time!!
Day 14

Things are going great over here ever since I got my humidifier working. The plants are growing like they're in hydro for the most part, although the ones under the Massive hood are growing much faster than the rest. In fairness, they were the group with the largest plants and the fullest canopy when I first planted them.

I've been feeding them 3.5gal compost tea every day for a week and a half now. I've been foliar feeding them 1/2gal compost tea every day as well, but I'm going to slack off on that because I noticed a little bit of tip burn. I didn't brew a batch last night, so I won't be giving them any today. I'll go plain water for a day or two and give them a little kelp extract, since that's basically all I've got right now, and the only part of my lineup that is more K than P and N.

I lowered my exposure a little too far for these shots and I never checked them until the lights were off. You can still see a little VPD pain in some of these shots, but all the new growth is really strong. These are from last night at lights on:

This one is for all you guys urging for more lollipopping last round. I still have just a little bit left to do, but I think this just about gets it:

That sshxbd looks like its gonna yield more than your blue bubba...amazing simple and efficient setup.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. If the SSHxBD yields anything like what was described to me, I may keep her in at least half the room for the next year or so. I have some seeds to run soon also. I may not keep the blue bubba longer than another round depending on yield. The SSHxBD also vegged a little faster than the BB, which is why they are bigger now.

I see a root on one of the BB clones now, so the SSHxBD shouldn't be too far behind. It's been 8 days on the BB and 7 on the SSHxBD.

On another note, I really need some new bulbs before next round. Any suggestions? I see a lot of people liking Ushio.

Thought I'd post some pics of the clones, now that they're rooted. I see roots through the peat pellets on most of the SSHxBDs and roughly half of the Blue Bubbas. I took 30 of the blue bubbas the Saturday before last (12 days ago) and 27 of the SSHxBDs the following night. Since they're very similar genetics (lots of SSH in there on both sides via Blue Dream) I have to assume that it's the pre 98 Bubba making the Blue Bubbas take a little longer to root. It's fine, though, since I only want 24 plants max to go into the flowering room anyway, and I'll probably drop that back to 20 or 21 like this round so I can keep one or two moms as a just-in-case. I may have 100% success this round, which would leave me with a bunch of extra clones. I'll either juice them or if I get desperate I'll put them on craiglist like some of the other crazies out here.

Oh, yeah. I took BIG clones! Most of them barely fit in the dome, and some of them really just don't. Never tried it that way, but since I had at least a thousand branches of undergrowth to remove, I figured ... WTFN? I didn't have a dedicated space for them, so they've been hanging out in the living room under the lamp we leave (she leaves) on for the cats. Consistently mid-70's and very, very dry made a good environment for using a humidity dome to slowly taper humidity. The only problem I have with this location is that only one arm of the sofa separates line-of-sight with the front door. Not a permanent rig, by any means.

One more thing before I forget. Bud swelling began the night before last, and there are already lots of visible trichs on the buds and leaves. Literally overnight the budlets doubled in size, and my first indication was when I went in the room a minute or two before lights on and I noticed that the plants were moving differently all of a sudden. They became top-heavy and rigid in one night. That's a new one on me.

Takin bigger cuts from lower branches that have more rooting hormones inherent , has always been 1 of the less known techniques of staying ahead of the ballgame Bro.....and....

Once full swellage is in effect after complete end of stretch , in a dialed environment things happen much more quickly during budset as you`ve witnessed firsthand....It should only get better from here on out till end of cycle.....

Glad good things`re happenin for yas since the move to med-ville WTFN....

Thanks for popping in, Freds. Glad to have you in my corner. Next time I'll be sure to roll out the red carpet for ya. :tiphat:

Day 21
Update time!!

Things are really popping over here. I gave my plants their first batch of fungal-dominant tea today and started another batch brewing. I used Jeff Lowenfels recipe from Teaming with Microbes, so I used 3Tbsp of quaker oats per cup of castings, which worked out to 9Tbsp per roughly 800ml, or almost all of a mason jar. That was split into 2x 400ml batches which made 4gal compost each. I started another larger batch today and I upped the oat content a little bit to 4Tbsp (I used a cup of oats for 48oz of castings), which is the high end of what's recommended in the book. It took a few days longer to see the hyphae than I expected, so I'm tweaking it just a little. I'll get 4 4gal brews from this, each progressively more fungal. It should be ready to start brewing fungal tea in about 5 days.

Aside from that, I've been feeding 4oz kelp per 2gal watering can every 3 or 4 days or while I gave them a break from the tea. Each bed gets 2gal. I water every day at lights on, usually 4gal apiece of plain water, plus whatever else I feed them.

Buds have been practically doubling in size every night for the last 3 or 4 days now. Let's hope this continues for the next 6 weeks :)

I should mention there's a little bit of localized damage directly under some of the hoods, right at the top fan leaves. It's not so much light burn as it is sensitivity to low humidity. For some reason, even with my humidistat set at 90% I'm still getting a little frying. It's consistent under the 3 Cool Sun hoods, regardless of fan position or intensity. I know Blue Dream is sensitive, but this is kind of ridiculous.
