Im from the omega-seven insulary capsule station. (OS-1223-7/CS)
I never mind that self-imposed hardship... in fact, I would live in my truck again if I didn't have to settle down for awhile.NOKUY said:

Pull the shades down in the back so no one could see in and I was never harassed.

vans are better then tints i guess...
After living in a van for over a year I have to tell you it was COLD and damp. You would never guess unless you lived in one how much water we breath and perspire. Next time I would definitely have a furnace.
The windows were light proof and with a table and halogen light I would read and write and had some really interesting insights in there. There were very few things to worry about so I could do basically what ever I wanted. Go hang out in a beautiful mountain park or down at the beach, pool, where ever. No prob. My worst living in a van experience was when I followed my friends punk band around with them. 8 guys living out of one van for a month and a half gets very hectic. I did not finish the tour with them, I ditched in Nashville, Tn and hitched back to the Carolina's where I reside.
Lets just say I get tired of people very easily...

That WanderLodge looks nice, but for the 20k asking price, I would only assume that I could engineer much better(at least for me and my needs).
THCBound, only a week??? Try a winter in the coldest trailer, eating Top Ramen with cold snow water warmed by our oil heater lol. I would do it again though, only i would go into the single wide by myself (especially considering it was only a room containing a 2 person couch for the 2 of us)
I cant see how living in a car was so bad, unless it was a gutted Metro. or a moped... lol
I think the WanderLodge is a great place to start. Genuine bus
quality construction, tough drivetrain but needs to be finished by
the owner to tailor their needs of course. Bigger coaches of the
same vintage can be had for $5K or even less & provide you with
more options with the extra space but a well maintained Wander

have done, will do again....Ive lived in an old amulance-they make excellent campers and the little glass space on the front where it says ambulance is perfect for writing such witty jokey words such as ambience or Unbalanced, I lived on a couple of buses-the best was the double decker with half the top secton off and replaced with glass to make a sun room-
All the buses, ambos and ice cream vans ((theyre good too!!)) all of em had wood burning stoves.... Shit one bus that belonged to my friend had an old army field cooker... ive lived in tipi's, and benders.....lol i even lived in a pyramid made from shipping pallettes which we wrapped in a big roll of shrink wrap we found to cover it.....Im gonna learn to drive so i can go on the road a again and be driving myself this time hell i even owned one bus but was always at the mercy of haveing someone to drive it so i sold it,,,,... Id love an old US School bus ...Ive seen a few of them kitted out awsome. i knew someone who tows an airstream with an old london black cab... I know someone who bought an old police mobile command centre-those bug trucks they use when theres a major event..... that was a corker coz it still had its genny in a soundproofed compartment ... If i had somewhere for my mothers and knew theyd be looked after id wait till the convoy rolls into hebden bridge this summer and head out then....

I spent a summer in a pop up RV pulled by an old beat up bronco just bouncing from place to place around the Missouri River Valley, Northern KY, and Southern IL. Probably the best summer of my life; I met some incredible people. I think when I'm done with grad school I'm going to head to either the southwest (NM) or Alaska for a year or so.

they auction off the old city buses here for a song and a dance, that could easily be decked out fairly cheap with room to spare
those ups vans are excellebnt for conversion to a rolling home.....like really really excellent...and because of the mount of miles they have done when they sell em-you get em cheap...obviously they need work but youd be modding anyway
ideal for me would be as someone mentioned a short bus...32 foot is nice but pain findsing a good place to park so those shorter buses are great...my ideal on of those,with 1/5 at the back a storage space, with a 250 motorbike stashed inside to travel around the locality when my bus is parked up
A lot of(crusty) travellers i know like dodge vans...in fact dodge vans if you roll onto a site with one you can be certain youll have several cash offers for it in a few

here in the uk we try to buy old vehicles-ie more than 25 years old because they are exempt from roadtax then as they are considered vintage-tax exemot, gives the fucking pigs one less reason to sieze ur home
