I was talking to a neighbor about the 800 gallon pots today. He said they use fork lifts to move them.
8 pounds per gallon (for water, close enough). Depending on how wet it is, dry soil seems lighter than that. 6 pounds per gallon - 4800 pounds ? Yes, I would need a forklift.
In the 00's, it seemed like a typical outdoor grow got about 2 pounds per plant, with a space about the size of a large garbage can dug out and filled with premium soil. That would be 40 gallons.
So now they're using 20 times more soil. I wouldn't expect to get 20 times more weight from one plant ... but I would expect much more weight !
The folks that use the Humongous Smart-pots don't do it just for fun.
My guess is, they're getting 5 to 10 pounds per plant.
